  • Japanese Crystal Ball Performer (Contact Juggling) This guy was hanging out in Yoyogi park in Harajuku, Tokyo, on a Sunday afternoon. He has clearly practiced a lot! I loved the music he played during his performance. My friends and I were completely mesmerized. He has a very expressive face too, with a charming smile... it really sells the show in the end. Made me feel like a little kid. UPDATE: This video has been up for nearly a year now and I have some information that some of my viewers will appreciate. First, the juggler's name is Okotanpe - and yes he's amazing - one of my favorite memories of Japan! Second, the song that he uses in his final act is called ソレイユ (soreiyu, spelled using katakana, meaning sun, is the Japanese pronunciation of the French word "soleil", also meaning sun). It is sung by Yoshie Nakano 中納良恵. Here's a link to the video: The beginning of the song is by UA (ううあ) and it comes from an old Japanese folk song: Here are the traditional lyrics: I don't know exactly what size ball Okotanpe uses in this video (other users have suggested that it is 95mm - 100mm), but you're welcome to ask him. Here's his youtube page: Also, here's his official webpage: Here's where you can buy a crystal ball pouch like Pakkun If you're interested in contact juggling, check out this online community: Hope this info helps! • Journey to Japan Konnichiwa guys ^_^ As promised- I filmed lots of footage from my trip to Japan for you guys. So come with me and follow me on my journey to Japan ^_^. On 4th December; I woke up to see a post-it note on my mirror. It was a treasure trail prepared by Tim. I followed all of the clues and the last clue was an itinerary & Yen note. I'M GOING TO JAPAN FOR MY BIRTHDAY!! Although I only got to spend 4 full days in Japan- we managed to do/see countless beautiful sightings. Japan is breathtaking. We didn't go to Tokyo because I wanted to experience the authentic and peaceful side of Japan (like how i imagine it in my head). I will definitely visit Tokyo in the future but I wanted to see Osaka/Kyoto first. I wanted to see Zen gardens, temples and geishas. Everything was even more beautiful than I imagined. It was a wonderful journey and we managed to visit some of the greatest temples on earth and eat delicious japanese food. People were very warm and welcoming. I will definitely visit Japan again and I would recommend anybody to visit the country once in their life time. They have a beautiful culture. Big thank you to my lovely boyfriend Tim for being so sweet and romantic. It was a wonderful surprise and I'll never forget our amazing trip together in Japan. I hope you guys enjoy this video. I had 1.5 hrs of footage condensed in 8 minutes =D. PS. NO I did not die in Japan. What a sick (and funny) person for making the channel 'Bubzbeautymemorial' n telling people I passed on. I ...

  • An Age Old Problem - Japan December 2010 At the time of year when our concern for the elderly is particularly strong. We travel to Japan, the world's oldest nation, to discover the secret to dealing with advancing age. But have they got the answers? With 30 million people over 65, Japan's life expectancy is the highest in the world. In the countryside it seems that keeping active and sociable is the secret; "a positive mental attitude is what counts". Yet in Tokyo the story is not quite the same - in the city the elderly aren't active through choice. Meagre pensions mean they often work up to their deaths. More and more old people line the streets, "living one day to the next". With a huge burden falling on the younger generation, the technophile Japanese see robots as a solution, most recently developing a 'robot suit' walking aid, designed to increase independence. It's a step in the right direction, but is it too little too late? Produced By ORF Distributed By Journeyman Pictures
