  • La Femme Qui Se Poudre (1972) Also known as "The Woman Who Powders Herself". Something of a hybrid between Jean Cocteau and Jan Svankmajer in its gothic expressionism and artful grotesquerie crossed with the metric precision of Kurt Kren's more clinical materialaktion films that experiment with the plasticity of surfaces (most notably, in the deformed figures that recall the disfiguration and self-mutilation of Kren's short film, 10/65: Selbstverstümmelung), Bokanowski's earliest film, La Femme qui se poudre (The Woman Who Powders Herself) is, as the title implies, an evocation of concealment and unmasking, where the mundane act of a Victorian-era woman's ritualistic application of cosmetic powder seemingly opens the window - or perhaps, Pandora's Box - into underlying human anxieties of physical beauty, youth, desirability, and objectification. Reflecting the superficiality of societal notions of beauty through the alienness of landscape and the ephemeral riddle of true identity through epic, soul-searching journeys and faceless phantoms that emerge from thin air before vanishing from view, the terrifying images break apart and eventually disintegrate into irresolvable fragments of haunted memory within the course of the increasingly abstract film, as the waking dream descends ever further into the realm of nightmare and the deepest recesses of the subconscious, unraveling the veil of human vanity to reveal amorphous shadows cast by empty souls. Directed by Patrick Bokanowski. Credited cast: Jean ...
  • AJC #9: The Jung-White Letters In 1945, shaken by the terrible revelations of the war that was ending, two men became caught up in a shared mission to transform the spiritual and psychological life of the western world. Driven by this enormous vision, CG Jung and Victor White, each a master in his field, agreed to work together on the borderlands of psychology and religion. They risked much on the venture. White, especially, risked his career as a Dominican theologian and arguably his life. In time it became clear that, in their irresolvable debate about the problem of evil, they faced a major stumbling block. This argument revealed the true depth of the chasm between their thought-worlds. Their friendship survived many bruises but, with Jung's Answer to Job and White's published response to it, the relationship broke almost beyond repair. Taken as a whole, their story is a tragedy. But like all classical tragedies, it has vital interludes of laughter and healthy glimpses of eros - both profane and sacred. This 2 DVD set includes the 90 minute performance based on a careful selection of letters exchanged between Professor Carl Jung and Father Victor White. It is an unforgettable experience of drama and intellectual stimulation as the story of this rich and multifaceted relationship unfolds. The second DVD contains a lively 2 hour teaching seminar from Dr. Murray Stein, one of Zurich's foremost Jungian ***ysts. It also contains over an hour of in depth interviews with the primary actors and actresses ...
  • Blood and Tears (2006) Image / Thinkfilms This important documentary film is published here in accordance with the Fair Use doctrine of US Copyright law. While most of the film is captioned, I am working on a complete searchable (html) copy of the script. The title is derived from Rabin speaking at the ceremony of the Olso Accords signing at the Whitehouse. Like an open wound that will not heal, the Arab-Israeli conflict refuses to be resolved. Acclaimed documentary producer and director, Isidore Rosmarin, and co-producer, Jeff Helmreich, have made BLOOD AND TEARS- the definitive film on this seemingly irresolvable conflict. Rosmarin uncovers the truth beneath the hype and the headlines. Rosmarin and his team of Middle East experts have gone right to the source: the ministers and mullahs, the fanatics and peaceniks, the soldiers and terrorists, and the ordinary families battling extraordinary forces as they try to live a normal life. They have interviewed top officials from both sides, from former Israeli Prime Ministers to senior Palestinian officials to the leaders of the militant extremist group Hamas, Sheikh Bitawi and the late Dr. Abdel aziz Rantisi. They have also interviewed renowned Mideast scholars Bernard Lewis & Fouad Ajami and the foremost Palestinian scholar, Rashid Khalidi. BLOOD AND TEARS explores the origin of the confrontation itself, and challenges many of the deep-rooted myths we all hold about this epicenter of human conflict.

Now I would like to stress the main idea of the Oath and say: the Presidents obligations to look after the state and faithfully serve the people will henceforward be sacred for me and will be above all else as before. As before, I consider that the help and backing of the citizens of Russia constitute the primary and most reliable support for the Presidents work.Today I would like to thank all those who placed such great trust in me by electing me to the post of head of Russian state and all those who, through their work, made their contribution to the results our country has achieved over these last four years. As during the previous years, I will work actively, openly and honestly and will do all I can, all that is within my power to justify the hopes that millions of people have placed in me.The last four years were not easy years for us all. To be frank, they were years of serious trials. Back then, in 2000, it seemed that we were facing a great number of simply irresolvable problems. Situated firmly in the border between sculpture and painting, illusion and reality, masculine and feminine, representation, abstraction and decoration, Rachel Beach's wooden portals and towers are crafted around cultural and biological limits. By playing painted illusion against sculptural reality each sculpture/painting creates a crisis of perception, an irresolvable tension between what you see and what is possible.

Москва,Кремль There are a number of important and interesting ideas to be discussed both at the governmental level and at the level of companies involved in this, including the technology issues. In both senses I hope that these talks will enable us to achieve good results. QUESTION: Will you allow me two questions? DMITRY MEDVEDEV: One or two? How about one and a half? And, second, what price concessions is Russia prepared to make for Ukraine? Thank you. DMITRY MEDVEDEV: Okay, thanks. With regard to the transfer of technical gas and furnace gas and all the rest of the gases, I would like colleagues who are present in this room and those who are listening to us today to be aware that any gas, whatever name we give it, is still gas in the end, not some special gas, but its role is to make the system function properly. • Authors@Google: Rebecca Goldstein Rebecca Newberger Goldstein is the author of the novel, Mind Body Problem. Goldsteins 36 ARGUMENTS FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD: A Work of Fiction is a hilarious, heartbreaking, and intellectually captivating novel exploring the rapture and torments of religious experience in all its variety. After Cass Seltzers book becomes a surprise best seller, hes dubbed, the atheist with a soul, and becomes a celebrity. He wins over the stunning Lucinda Mandelbaum, the goddess of game theory, and loses himself in a spirtually expansive infatuation. A former girlfriend appears: an anthropologist who invites him to join her in her quest for immortality through biochemistry. And he is haunted by reminders of the two people who ignited his passion to understand religion: his mentor and professor, a renowned literary scholar with a suspicious obsession with messianism, and an angelic six-year-old mathematical genius, heir to the leadership of a Hasidic sect. Each encounter reinforces Casss theory that the religious impulse spills over into life at large. 36 ARGUMENTS FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD plunges into the great debate of our day: the clash between faith and reason. Not since the Enlightenment has this collision been so much on peoples minds. World events are being shaped by fervent believers at home and abroad, while a new, aggressive atheism is asserting itself in the public sphere. On purely intellectual grounds the skeptics would seem to have everything on their side. Yet people refuse ...

A force which contains the enormous power of T-Energy carries great dangers. The children of Ancaria were not taught how to deal with this. Soon there was a heated dispute among the High Elves as to how and to what purpose the T-Energy was to be used. Every party wanted to use the power. The dispute changed to irresolvable conflict, causing a rift between the High Elves. A terrible Civil War raged among the High Elves, resulting in all participants becoming losers. Their realm collapsed and with it the entire power structure. • By Fire, By Water by Mitchell James Kaplan Luis de Santángel, chancellor to the court and longtime friend of the lusty King Ferdinand, has had enough of the Spanish Inquisition. As the power of Inquisitor General Tomás de Torquemada grows, so does the brutality of the Spanish church and the suspicion and paranoia it inspires. When a dear friends demise brings the violence close to home, Santángel is enraged and takes retribution into his own hands. But he is from a family of conversos, and his Jewish heritage makes him an easy target. As Santángel witnesses the horrific persecution of his loved ones, he begins slowly to reconnect with the Jewish faith his family left behind. Feeding his curiosity about his past is his growing love for Judith Migdal, a clever and beautiful Jewish woman navigating the mounting tensions in Granada. While he struggles to decide what his reputation is worth and what he can sacrifice, one man offers him a chance he thought hed lostthe chance to hope for a better world. Christopher Columbus has plans to discover a route to paradise, and only Luis de Santángel can help him. Within the dramatic story lies a subtle, insightful examination of the crisis of faith at the heart of the Spanish Inquisition. Irresolvable conflict rages within the conversos in By Fire, By Water, torn between the religion they left behind and the conversion meant to ensure their safety. In this story of love, God, faith, and torture, fif***th-century Spain comes to dazzling, engrossing life.
  • Experiential Nonsense When it comes to experiential religious nonsense, Roman Catholics have historically dominated the field. Today, however, some professing to be Reformed are now appealing to experiential / existential sensation along side of Scripture. Such appeals are an outright attack on Sola Scriptura. Joel R. Beeke, of Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, seems to be the leading proponent of experiential nonsense among those professing to be Reformed. Even in his introductory video to Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, Beeke states, "The mission of the school would be to bring Reformed Puritan experiential emphases in ministry." Watch his video at this link: R. Scott Clark, of Westminster Theological Seminary (California), is a sacerdotalist, a supporter of Cornelius Van Til's irresolvable-paradoxical theology, a supporter of experiential nonsense, and an open proponent of Roman Catholic Natural Law. Some of R. Scott Clark's fellow professors at Westminster Theological Seminary, California, have not only graduated from Roman Catholic universities, but remain in Roman Catholic societies, have accepted money from Roman Catholic organizations, and continue to publish in Roman Catholic journals. With such a public history, one shouldn't be surprised to see efforts to advance Jesuit-like experiential encounters from one like R. Scott Clark. Richard B. Gaffin is a graduate of Westminster Theological Seminary, Pennsylvania. He is also a Van Tilian, a post ...

The book was motivated by his personal interest in pursuing a scientific search for understanding reality, purpose, and meaning in the universe. About the Program Science has struggled for centuries to understand the universe. However mysterious and irresolvable paradoxes, known as the Cosmic Conundrum, have plagued the otherwise successful theories of science. During this program Dr. Singh explains the new approach described in his new book, The Hidden Factor, and how it resolves the current unresolved mysteries and paradoxes of the universe. Dr. Singh believes that many of the great successful scientific theories are incomplete due to the missing physics of spontaneity in them. One of the most serious outcomes of existing and widely accepted theories is the meaninglessness of the universe and life in it. The Hidden Factor attempts to return the meaning to both science and the universe.

Using real life situations and tensions between men and women as her point of departure, also inherent is the notion of the domestic as a site of confinement. Enduring physical gestures are used as metaphors for transformative psychological positions and as passive aggressive assertions of power. Her work is a social comment on the traditional representation of woman as object and on contemporary society through a representation of power playing situations. The use of the Still and Moving image and the Loop as a representation of an irresolvable state are important components in the works. The space that lies between the still and moving image represents a tension between possibility and non-action indicating a latent possibility. She contends that ideas of impossibility are integral to the notion of equality. Cyclical competitive actions represent imbalances, repetition, failure and an acquisition of strength.
  • Sacred 2 Co-op Trailer The Story: T-Energy has been flowing through Ancaria since time immemorial. This mysterious power forms the beginning of all life, is the source of all magic and the origin of all thought. For a long time it was the angelic Seraphim who watched over the T-Energy and therefore over the fate of the entire world. They passed their knowledge on to the High Elves, so that they could benefit from T-Energy. T-Energy helped the realm of the High Elves to experience an incomparable boost of prosperity, making it the reigning culture in Ancaria. Other peoples surged forward to pressure Ancaria and were ready to seize the power for themselves in order to take the place of the High Elves. Dispute covered the entire realm. Apart from the devastation of war, a further calamity intruded into Ancaria. The T-Energy went out of control! The once creative power of the T-Energy now changed into something negative. Creatures and animals mutated beyond recognition, entire ...
  • Ballast Free watch the full movie at Ballast (2008) A single mother and her embattled son struggle to subsist in a small Mississippi Delta township. An act of violence thrusts them into the world of an emotionally devastated highway store owner, awakening the fury of a bitter and longstanding conflict. """Ballast"" - The opening images of the movie ""Ballast"" present a young boy drifting freely in a vast Mississippi Delta flatscape and a middle-aged man immobilized by grief in the darkness of a small rural home. If, among other possibilities, the first can be regarded as an image of hope for what can be, and the second an image of regret for what has become, it is the emotional expanse between these poles that successive images will seek to reconcile. Although 12 years old, the boy, James, is already beginning to stumble under the weight of poverty endemic to the Delta. As Marlee, his single mother, struggles to sustain their tenuous existence through long hours at a demeaning and poorly paying job, James is left to his own devices. He wanders. His venturings take him into the natural landscape, where he finds solace, and, increasingly, into the turbulent orbit of a group of local ***agers whom he seeks to impress. His willingness to perform the occasional drug drop with his motorcycle bodes well for his acceptance. Patiently, he nurtures this goal. One morning James points his motorcycle in a new direction. He travels fif*** miles to the home of ...

But this immature grotesquerie is treated with formal sophistication. In some of the pictures, a unique stylistic language carries a subconscious influence from great paintings of the past. Other images borrow directly from Rococo and Pre-Raphaelite masters. Compositional ideas are derived from daydreams and enhanced by historical allusion. Pelepko's voice is unique while entering into a dialogue with art history on the failure of transcendence from carnality.

  • Д.Медведев.Развитие транспортного комплекса.24.11.09 Opening Remarks at State Council Presidium Meeting on Innovative Development in the Transport Sector. November 24, 2009 Ulyanovsk Region Вступительное слово на заседании президиума Государственного совета по вопросу инновационного развития транспортного комплекса. 24 ноября 2009 года Ульяновск PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA DMITRY MEDVEDEV: Good afternoon, colleagues, This State Council Presidium meeting today is examining innovative development in the transport sector. Here in Ulyanovsk we have just witnessed a good event of the kind that is, unfortunately, all too rare, namely the opening of the new bridge, so long in construction and unprecedented in its size and the technology used. That we need innovation in the transport sector is obvious. There was innovation in the past too, but as technology develops, so must we make use of the new possibilities it offers today. I want to say a couple of words on one of the subjects I mentioned in my Address [to the Federal Assembly]. I said that infrastructure development, including transport infrastructure, calls not only for greater investment but also for putting things in basic order. Really, we need to bring order to all different sectors, including transport. The lack of modern construction standards and the existing price calculation system make it hard for us to use highly effective technology and greatly increase the costs of first building and then maintaining these facilities. Costs in some cities and regions are particularly ...
  • 5 Minutes Bible Study - Guidelines For Overcoming Fear, Part 2 GUIDELINES FOR OVERCOMING FEAR, 2 by Dr. Harold Sala Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me... Psalm 23:4, NKJV Sir Wilfred Grenfell was a great missionary doctor and statesman in Labrador. On one occasion this brave man was taking patients to the base hospital in his hospital ship when a storm threatened to drive his little vessel on the rocks of the rugged shore. The boat was full of people who were sick and could not have survived a shipwreck. Grenfell kept his course and safely brought the shipload of sick people to port. "Were you afraid?" someone asked later, and he replied, "The only thing I've ever really feared is the loss of courage and faith. If Jesus is the Master of your life, there is no room for fear." Grenfell knew the danger; he trusted God and kept moving ahead. Here are some guidelines as to what you can do to face fear and conquer it. Guideline #1: Recognize and admit your fear. Guideline #2: ***yze your fear. #3: Act upon it. That's what Grenfell did, and now we come to number four which is vitally necessary in coping with some things. Guideline #4: Commit irresolvable fears to your Heavenly Father. And what are irresolvable fears? They are the unknown quantities that can drive you to the wall, the great "what if's" of life, like, "What will I do if I lose my job? What if my child should use drugs? What if my mate is unfaithful to me? What if some madman should hit the button and plunge ...
  • A Van Tilian's ***ogical Testimony Before A Calvinist Elder What would happen...if a Van Tilian was actually honest...when being examined by a Calvinist elder of a Presbyterian church??? I know some people are thinking, "Isn't an honest Van Tilian a contradiction in terms?" Well, yes, but let's move on. Would the Van Tilian be admitted? How would the Calvinist elder respond to Van Til's theology of irresolvable paradox? I know that some may believe this setting is scary. This video may possibly represent--deep breath--what some people think of when they imagine being under examination by a Calvinist session! Although there is clearly humor here, the subject of Cornelius Van Til's heresy is deadly serious. VanTil's theology of irresolvable paradox is a heresy matrix. In my opinion, it gave birth to Federal Vision. I do not think it is any coincidence that almost all, if not all, of the proponents of Federal Vision are Van Tilians. Gordon H. Clark tried to warn Presbyterians back in the 1940's about the heresy of Van Til, but the Orthodox Presbyterian Church wouldn't listen, even after they ruled in Gordon H. Clark's favor in what has been called the Clark / Van Til Controversy. It wasn't long before the irrationalism of Van Til made it possible for the Covenant of Works to be dismissed from Westminster Seminary, Pennsylvania. But the Covenant of Works was not all that was dismissed from that seminary. Norman Shepherd, another paradoxical theologian, would also be dismissed--for teaching justification by faith and works! Cornelius ...
  • TEDxUVM - Saleem Ali - 07/19/10 Saleem Ali is Professor of Environmental Studies at the University of Vermont's Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, and on the adjunct faculty of Brown University's Watson Institute for International Studies. While his research is complex and crosses a wide range of issues, his professional training is as a mediator and peace-builder on the international level. In his TEDx talk he will present the idea that environmental issues can actually solve conflicts and will outline specific examples of how ecological factors have been able to promote peace, with good leadership, among seemingly irresolvable territorial conflicts. AboutTEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Apparently, I did not care much for his emotions and merely took this moment as a leverage to set them in a video. This is a brief moment of the matter at its climax.
  • 19. Weber on Charismatic Authority Foundations of Modern Social Thought (SOCY 151) Charismatic authority, unlike traditional authority, is a revolutionary and unstable form of authority. Weber borrows the religious term of charisma and extends its use to a secular meaning. Audiences and followers believe that charismatic leaders have a close connection to a divine power, have exceptional skills, or are exemplary in some way. Charismatic leaders promise change in the future for the society and also change people's attitudes and values; in this way, charismatic authority is revolutionary in a way that traditional and legal-rational authority are not. However, charisma is unstable and deteriorates if the leader cannot produce the changes he promises or when he confronts the contradictory logics and demands of the other types of authority. There are particular ways—including search, revelation, designation, or heredity—that charismatic successors are identified, but transferring charismatic authority is difficult and not always successful. 00:00 - Chapter 1.
