In this lesson, students learn the definition of an inscribed angle, and that the measure of an inscribed angle is equal to ½ the measure of its intercepted arc. Students also learn the following theorems related to inscribed angles. If two inscribed angles intercept the same arc, then the angles are congruent. An angle inscribed in a semicircle is a right angle. If a quadrilateral is inscribed in a semicircle, then opposite angles are supplementary. Georgia Guidestones The Georgia Guidestones are a huge granite monument in Elbert County, Georgia, USA. A message comprising ten guides is inscribed on the structure in eight modern languages, and a shorter message is inscribed at the top of the structure in four ancient languages' scripts: Babylonian, Classical Greek, Sanskrit, and Egyptian hieroglyphs. The structure is sometimes referred to as an "American Stonehenge".[1] The monument is almost 20 feet (6.1 m) tall, and made from six granite slabs weighing more than 240000 pounds (110000 kg) in all.[2] One slab stands in the center, with four arranged around it.
