But when it comes to products that have no medicinal value, he continued, statin drugs have been shown by pharmaceutical companies' own research to not extend lifespans, and antidepressants actually double your risk of relapsing into depression. The FDA is looking to change earlier legislation about dietary supplements, and gain further control over them, like the UN's Codex Alimentarius is doing, Bollinger cautioned. Their restrictive plan would have supplement makers remove their products for 75 days, and fill out an approval application for each new ingredient combination since 1994, he detailed. Dr. Farley (joining the program in the third hour) cited the difference between allopathic medicine, which treats symptoms, and the naturopathic approach which treats the whole person. Funding for whooping cough boosters under threat ABC Australia's 7:30 programme looks into the ill advised cost saving measure to scrap funding for free pertussis boosters. Despite the fact cost cutting measures often lead to high public health expense in the long run this is the direction Australia has taken. Although infection rates are slowly falling since the beginning of an epidemic in 2008 the decision worries the Australian Medical Association. Whilst the Victorian government is arguing the evidence for cost effectiveness is lacking it's more true to say that the most recent data is still being collated. And that data seems to indicate a good rate of uptake in the demographic targeted. Presently there is INSUFFICIENT evidence leaving clinical efficiency UNCERTAIN according to Victoria's Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee. That's entirely different from arguing there is evidence to justify removing funding. Presently it certainly appears to be too early to begin removing an essential component to fighting an epidemic that has only just begun to slow. It sends a confusing message to parents about the efficacy of the vaccine itself - a favourite target of the antivaccination lobby - who have already taken up the banner claiming "proof" of vaccine inefficacy. It's a small $3 million per year in Victoria. Education has been pedestrian in Australia and in California the approach of large scale distribution has shown it's worth. Oh my, and here's a petition:

Burnout is a psychological term for the experience of long-term exhaustion and diminished interest. Research indicates general practitioners have the highest proportion of burnout cases; according to a recent Dutch study in Psychological Reports, no less than 40% of these experienced high levels of burnout. Burnout is not a recognized disorder in the DSM although it is recognized in the ICD-10 as "Problems related to life-management difficulty". The most well-studied measurement of burnout in the literature is the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Maslach and her colleague Jackson first identified the construct "burnout" in the 1970s, and developed a measure that weighs the effects of emotional exhaustion and reduced sense of personal accomplishment. The Maslach Burnout Inventory uses a three dimensional description of exhaustion, cynicism, and inefficacy. Some researchers and practitioners have argued for an "exhaustion only" model that sees that symptom as the hallmark of burnout. Maslach and her colleague, Michael Leiter, defined the antithesis of burnout as engagement. Engagement is characterized by energy, involvement and efficacy, the opposites of exhaustion, cynicism and inefficacy. MURDERED by NARCONON Gregory Wisner.wmv The body of Gregory B. Wisner, age 27, was found in the surf near Indian Rocks Beach, Florida on January 20, 2001. He was killed by the Scientology Corporations NARCONON Institute. Gregorys life was a tragedy. He was DISCONNECTED by his father and the rest of his family when he was only 9 years old and he never recovered from this abandonment. His father was R. Michael Wisner, a prominent Scientologist and chief spokesperson for NARCONON. He often appeared on TV touting the benefits of NARCONON. In truth, a two year study by Duke University showed that the NARCONON programme was actually detrimental to recovery. Two years after NARCONON treatment, 94% of patients had relapsed. Of addicts who attempted to break their addiction alone, 89% had relapsed (a 5% improvement on NARCONON). Of patients who had received traditional psychiatric treatment only 37% of patients had relapsed after two years. These results provide a clear indication of the inefficacy of NARCONON and the beneficial effects of psychiatry. Gregory Wisner had started to use cocaine in his ***s to cope with his problems and, when he was 27, his parents contacted him and coerced him into joining the controversial NARCONON drug rehabilitation programme. This involved taking lengthy saunas (up to 5 hours at a time) and ingesting huge quantities of vitamins (including Niacin, which is toxic at high doses) and drinking up to three gallons of water a day. Mumbai Attacks: ***ysis by Michael Shank Michael Shank, a conflict ***yst at George Mason Universitys Institute for Conflict ***ysis and Resolution, examines the shootings in Mumbai, India, stressing the inefficacy of counter-terrorism responses that target the agent only without concurrently addressing the conflict environment in which violence takes roots. Shank suggests that national, regional and global conflicts are responsible for the shootings -- specifically, socio-economic and political marginalization of Muslims in India; nuclear and Kashmir conflicts between India-Pakistan and Americas preferential nuclear treatment of India; and finally, Muslim-West relations exacerbated by Obamas distancing from his Muslim identity and plans to attack another sovereign Islamic republic, Pakistan. The interview was conducted in Arabic by Al Jazeera on December 3, 2008.

That proves to be the ominous lesson of Chinatown, Roman Polanski's critically lauded 1974 revision of 1940s film noir detective movies. In 1930s Los Angeles, "matrimonial work" specialist Gittes is hired by Evelyn Mulwray (Faye Dunaway) to tail her husband, Water Department engineer Hollis Mulwray (Darrell Zwerling). Gittes photographs him in the company of a young blonde and figures the case is closed, only to discover that the real Mrs. Mulwray had nothing to do with hiring Gittes in the first place. "The Beauty of your Eloquence is Deformed, Erasmus!" - MARTIN LUTHER - "The *** of the Will" . "These statements of yours are without Christ, without the Spirit, and more cold than ice, so that the beauty of your eloquence is really deformed by them. Perhaps a fear of the popes and those tyrants, extorted them from you their miserable vassal, lest you appear to them a perfect atheist. But what they assert is this: that there is ability in us; that there is a striving with all our powers; that there is mercy in God; that there are ways of gaining that mercy; that there is a God, by nature just and most merciful, etc. But if a man does not know what these powers are; what they can do; or in what they are to be passive; what their efficacy is, or what their inefficacy is; what can such a one do? What will you set them about doing?" (Martin Luther - The *** of the Will - Henry Cole translation, page 27) "For although the Sophists are rash and mad in reality while they pursue their curious inquiries, yet their sin in less enormous than yours; for you even teach and enjoin men to be mad, and to rush on with their temerity........you believe that you can by your eloquence, so impose upon the understandings of all, that no one shall discover the design which you secretly hug in your heart, and what you aim at in all those your pliant writings. But God is not mocked (Galatians 6:7), upon whom it is not safe to run." (ibid, page 30) Read this book online at
