For saturnine blue torches downed in size Subterranean forests Move outwards by design Consider A diamond's view of time Can see more ways We're offering a new power Stop sheltering a doomed flower That's not what we're meant to be made of Swallowed Saturn under the terms of our imprisonment To arrest in a new form 'till the shadow of him covered every good limit No more narrow cage to gild Don't let the stable fortress come to nothing If you want to be me You can free any form you love We put ban on poetry and growing things To see the seasons we've been sweeping Under Saturn's hair We've been sweeping seasons Asleep All the kings are out on ant hills So don't let this come to nothing Come taste Our strong sense of will All bets on the table trumping a visit with a death by inches Of what a win - win game of will is Come in Sally and sing Under the stars Say no to sleep For those who wish to be they can free any form they love Stop putting bans on poetry And sweeping the seasons Holding pins With he weight of the world Album: Subtle Things

  • PARTING WORDS: from the Seven Martyrs of Hamadan A tribute to the seven Baha'i martyrs of Hamadan Iran who suffered imprisonment and endured cruel torture before finally sacrificing their lives for their religious beliefs on June 14, 1981. Excerpts from letters written in their final moments of life provide us with only a glimpse of the deep love for the families they left behind and the profound courage and nobility arising out of the depth of their love of God and their faith in His Messenger for this age Baha'u'llah. The hauntingly beautiful music was composed in their honor by Farzad Khozein, a nephew of one of the martyrs. It brought tears to my eyes even before I read the moving words of his uncle Tarazullah and the other martyrs -- then the tears multiplied and became a river. As I see history seemingly repeating itself with the current imprisonment and impending trials of seven more leaders of the Iranian Baha'i community, it sends chills down my spine and that all important question "WHY?" continues to echo in my mind. To simply be a Baha'i in Iran is an act of courage in and of itself. We who are fortunate enough to live in relative freedom continue to send them our love and our prayers.

  • The plot against Katherine Parr Scenes from the series 'The Six Wives of Henry VIII. The plot against Katherine Parr began at the beginning of 1546 when Bishop Gardiner and other conservatives became more cautious about Katherine's religious leanings and her potential influence over the king. They had tried, and failed, to link the condemned heretic Anne Askew to Katherine. But the search for any links between Katherine and heresy continued and around the time Askew was burnt at the stake, a royal warrant was drawn up for Katherine's arrest. According to John Foxe, a Protestant writer, writing after the events had occurred, one of the royal doctors managed to accidentally see the warrant and immediately told the queen. Katherine was said to be terrified and decided to take to her bed claiming that she was gravely ill. The king came to her and she told him that she was completely innocent. When Henry accused her of being too outspoken she replied that she had never intended to challenge him, rather she only wished to draw him into theological discussions to take his mind of his illness and because she wanted to learn from his knowledge. But she promised to never discuss such things again. Henry was relieved by her answer and believed that she had been innocent in the matter. Unfortunately no one decided to tell Chancellor Wriothesley, who was sent to arrest Katherine, that the king and Katherine had made up. The day after Henry and Katherine reconciled, they were walking in the garden when Wriothesley ...
