  • Skeptical Idealism 2.0 Music: Rigo's Blues Back Porch Blues: Tom Rigney and Flambeau Please Do No Harm donoharm.us Skeptical Idealism 2.0 The truth is, we can never know what The Truth is! If we begin with No-Thingness, then No-Thingness is all we can ever have. The Empty or Null Set is completely satisfied and beyond entropy or evolution. It is an impossibility for No-thingness to evolve into Thingness. We cannot get Something from Nothing! Since this is the case, where does all this Thingness come from? It doesn't. There is no Thingness, there is only the Illusion of Thingness. We start with Quantum Idealism; the idealist concepts of the Copenhagen Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics which maintains everything is an illusion and there in no-thing physical at all, which is different than the Realist interpretation of quantum mechanics followed by Super String Theorist still looking for a fundamental vibration to explain the Universe. The problem with Super String theory is they still need to answer the hard question of where did all those vibrations come from? What started Nothingness to vibrate? What naturally follows Quantum Idealism then is the "New Age" interpretation of the Copenhagen Interpretation which maintains the essence of all Reality is pure Consciousness. Consciousness is the "Emptiness at the heart of all matter"! If we then follow that concept to it's logical conclusion we end up with Skeptical Idealism. Skeptical Idealism is pure Idealism ...

  • IDEALISM THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE MATRIX AND THE TRUE NATURE OF MATTER 3/4 IDEALISM THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE MATRIX AND THE TRUE NATURE OF MATTER 3/4 Many of the movies that have hit the big screen over the last few years share a common subject as part of their storyline. These films question reality—or the real world, as we know it—pointing out that artificially created dream worlds or worlds produced by simulations can actually be quite realistic. These films also deal with suggestions, thus far represented only as food for thought at scientific gatherings, of how these questions could affect our lives. What is real? How do you define "real"? If you're talking about your senses—what you feel, taste, smell, or see—then all you're talking about are electrical signals interpreted by your brain. Doubtless one of the foremost reasons why these films, based on scientific explanations, captivate the attention of millions is the fact that people now question the reliability of the external world's assumptions and preconditions. http

  • Idealism + Pragmatism An interesting essay by a poster on the Daily Kos site. Worth mentioning, because some of us are involved in these intrinsic arguments. I am not sure whether this poster still supports a reform movement from within the Democratic Party or not. I, for one, do no longer believe that this is possible. Strong opposition is needed from without the party system. To my knowledge, neither MLK nor Malcolm X were members of the Democratic party. Change is possible, but only if people remain aware, informed and engaged and yes, enraged enough to turn the tables around. In order for this to be successful, the people must seek to divide those in power, not by joining some party, but by doing the exact opposite: no more alignments, period. Get a little leverage back, for heavens sake! The author of this essay is correct in saying, that massive pressure will be needed from below but he is utterly mis-guided in his belief, that this change will come about within an established party system beholden to high finance and the corporate elites who own it. I also believed this for a very long time, but after reading many, many congressional documents over the course of 15 years, I can no longer hold on to that hope. So, in essence, Im not the radical that he mentions in his essay, but rather the pragmatist who is aware of the truth in terms of the deals made in congressional committees. All you have to do, is to read the biographies of various members of Congress in order to ...

  • Materialism and Idealism when will the war between them end? When our ideas come to life. response to: He, or She? Didn't mean to assume. (from Lenin's "Materialism and Empirio-Criticism") Those who hold to the line of Kant or Hume (Mach and Avenarius are among the latter, in so far as they are not pure Berkeleians) call us, the materialists, metaphysicians because we recognise objective reality which is given us in experience, because we recognise an objective source of our sensations independent of man. We materialists follow Engels in calling the Kantians and Humeans agnostics, because they deny objective reality as the source of our sensations. Agnostic is a Greek word: a in Greek means no, gnosis knowledge. The agnostic says: I do not know if there is an objective reality which is reflected, imaged by our sensations; I declare there is no way of knowing this (see the words of Engels above quoted setting forth the position of the agnostic). Hence the denial of objective truth by the agnostic, and the tolerance—the philistine, cowardly tolerance—of the dogmas regarding sprites, hobgoblins, Catholic saints, and the like. Mach and Avenarius, pretentiously resorting to a new terminology, a supposedly new point of view, repeat, in fact, although in a confused and muddled way, the reply of the agnostic: on the one hand, bodies are complexes of sensations (pure subjectivism, pure Berkeleianism); on the other hand, if we re-christen our sensations elements, we may think of them as ...

  • 2012: Idealism is Useless Here I am sharing the point that what we are walking as Destonians, as the World Solution of an Equal Money System, is NOT Idealism in that we are not projecting some hope into the future based in thoughts of the mind that we can maybe, someday create a better world, but instead practically walking the solution, as ourselves HERE, physically - moment by moment, breath by breath - as we realize that anything else is self-deception, and essentially...useless. Thus, idealism is a form of separation in that if one is idealistic, one is stating that they are not yet that which is 'the ideal' which is a form of self-diminishment, self-abuse, and self-dishonesty and must STOP if we are to actually, practically create a new world that is best for ALL. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The daily self Task to place yourself in writing in a structured way will in time be your proven sanity, trust, honesty and consistency that transcend all ego. All the structure must show is your dedication to what is best for all life and the confirmation through cross-referenced feedback that you are in fact living this commitment breath by breath into being as you as life. This will support you effectively when you get to the point of no return called death and you are measured to see if you are in fact life and worthy to be recognized as life. • Why Obama? Because My Pragmatism Destroyed My Idealism Yes, I know that the popular option will be "screw 'em both". Many of you in the Crocoduck Army want a third party to shake things up. Most of us care about something in the realm of politics, and we all have our dreams of how things should be. We all want the perfect candidate to help fulfill those dreams. I'm certainly no exception to these thoughts, but let's live in reality and make a choice, and stop pretending there is no choice to be made at all. There ARE differences, and not minor ones, between Romney and Obama! So sure, cultivate a third party by all means, but if they don't end up within striking distance in the polls by election day... well, it's up to you. Friedman dissolves egalitarianism by pointing out a simple fact: wealth redistribution creates state power elites, not equality. And the fact of coercion remains.

  • Hegel's Idealism, The State, Dialectics and Karl Marx In Hegel's idealistic philosophy consciousness was the Being, every other form of reality was only a manifestation of consciousness. Consciousness passed through different stages through dialectics, and the manifestations of them were the different stages in human history. In this way consciousness was enriched, achieved self-knowledge, and finally, will reach The Absolute! For Hegel, there were two spheres of the existence of society - the civic sphere and the political sphere. The civic sphere was the life of the individuals which was full of greediness, the different egoisms, conflicts. It was messy. On the other hand, the other sphere of existence of society was the state, the government. It was above the individuals, it was taking care of them, and only through its control the society could become better. The state had the right to force individuals to act in a certain way for the "common good", which the state specified. Marx accepted from Hegel that those two spheres exist in society, but he did not accept the ideal, separate existence of the state, independant from and above the individuals. He insisted that the state is the individuals and the state should serve the real individuals. A state, that is forcing individuals, that is violent towards individuals, is not a real state, Marx said. Also, he specified the duality of the human existence - a real, living person in the civic sphere, and an ideal citizen in the political sphere, which was an unreal person. In ...
  • Obama's idealism meets reality - 21 Dec 09 When Barack Obama was elected US president, many of his supporters had high hopes he would bring a new era of reform to Washington. He ran on a platform of idealism, touting "change" as his central motto. But now after nearly a year in office, some are becoming increasingly disappointed. From the watered-down climate deal in Copenhagen to a weakening stance on health care, critics argue the idealistic president is becoming too pragmatic. Al Jazeera's Sebastian Walker reports.
