The UV Race- Homo ALBUM REVIEW Listen: On their sophomore album, Australia's the UV Race brings garage rock to a dirtier and grimier level than most. The band's loose song structures and loose playing bring a lot of, well, "character" to these recordings. There are flubbed notes everywhere, and it's all for the sake of sounding noisier. Chaos within limits is the name of the game on Homo, and I'll be dammed if these guys didn't make sounding messy feel fun as hell! There's an obvious Velvet Underground influence flowing throughout this. A lot of these tracks feel like abridged versions of the song "Sister Ray," but there's also a lot of love if you're more of a fan of the Fall or the Stooges. We left South America for Costa Rica, after the small drama of me having booked flights for San Juan, Porta Rico, not San Jose, Costa Rica, where we intended to meet Jude and Athol, Hannah's parents. If it was not for Jude's evil eye we could have ended up slumming it around Porta Rico while Jude and Athol had the all inclusive resort to themselves. Nice save Jude!!!!!!!!! So 4 nights all inclusive, that means ***tails and all you can eat buffet, my tipple was a Tom Collins and Hannah went for the less dignified Pina colada. This resort made a nice change and we had a great time chillin out with J and A. We left Costa Rica straight after the resort for the cheaper slightly grimier Nicaragua, spent 4 days chilling on a very secluded beach which received a few day trippers from time to time, check out the photo to see our sweet little Casa (that's house, my Spanish has come on in leaps and bounds) on the beach. When rookie AMS Special Agent G, who originally appeared in the first House of the Dead game of which Overkill is a prequel to, is forced to team up with loudmouthed ladies' man Isaac Washington, a Bayou City detective on a quest for revenge, blood, brains, and bodies fly. The two curse and shoot their way through endless zombies--we mean mutants--as they chase after nefarious crime lord Papa Caesar, the man responsible for the outbreak. Along the way, you'll encounter the aptly named Varla Guns, an ex-stripper with her own vendetta against the sinister villain, and blast your way through wave after wave of hilarious and terrifying mutants, including hobos, football players, rednecks, backflipping clowns, nurses, and more.
