  • Big CommunityTank Updated This tank has been changed around alot. I had alot of big stones but took them out as I needed more room for the fish to swim. Its kinda over crowded but you know to keep many aggressive fish together with none aggressive fish you need to crowd them a little. The King of the tank is the Midas. Nobody messes with him. The big male flowerhorn tried but wants no part of the Midas anymore. The two Parrots defend in tandem, fun to watch. I think the red female had eggs again in the pot, but you know they will never hatch.

  • Catlocarpio siamensis (Giant Siamese barb) 2 new editions to my 300gallon community tank. Catlocarpio Siamensis the Siamese giant barb or carp. MIne are about 5-6" right now but can grow very large.up to 10 feet! and can weigh 660lbs. I read they grow very slow in the wild. I would think they might grow faster in captivity being they get more food. Will see how much they grow after a year. They comes from the Mekong River home of some of the largest freshwater fish in the world like the Mekong cat fish.. The one that looks like its tail has been bitten actually this happen during shipping. Not sure but I think its tail got pinched in the bags folds. So no its not being picked on by any of the tank mates.i removed all my aggressive Cichlids from this tank moved them to a 100gallon in preparing for there arrival. You see the 2 Pangasius species on the left.side of the tank. I purchase those at about 3". Can anyone identify those species? I purchased them as Paroon sharks but the fish store did not know what species Pangasius they were. I have 3 large Pangasius ID cats in there also so not those but the other two on the left side. One distinguishing marking on those 2 Pangasius is there pelvic fins are mostly clear or white with very little black pigment color at the base of the fin. Ive searched through all other Pangasius species and cannot find any that look like them. Update on my unidentified Pangasius sp. is a Pangasius bocourti. They are described as shorter fatter body rounder blunt head with smaller eyes.
  • Giant gourami (Osphronemus goramy) The Giant Gourami is a gourami, a freshwater fish belonging to the family Osphronemidae. Some other larger members of this family are also occasionally or regionally referred to as "giant gouramis", including the banded gourami, Polyacanthus fasciatus, and the three spot gourami, Trichogaster trichopterus. In turn the giant gourami is also sometimes known as the banded gourami, rainbow gourami, or striped gourami. Giant Gourami build nests using weeds and twigs. Female Giant Gourami can be identified by their thicker lips. The Giant Gourami is native to parts of Indochina, Malaysia , Indonesia and India, but has been introduced elsewhere for the purpose of aquaculture. It lives in fresh or brackish water, particularly slow-moving areas such as swamps, lakes and large rivers. It is capable of breathing moist air, so can survive out of water for long periods. It is much larger than most gouramis, growing to a maximum length of 70 cm (28 inches). In colour it is a pale to golden yellow, with silvery pale blue stripes running vertically along its body. Partly in consequence of its size, the Giant Gourami is a significant food fish; in some parts of India, for example, it is dried and then eaten. In some of the South East Asian countries where it is native, there are aid programs promoting the 'domestication of these fish, while in its native regions it has been harvested as a customary food source. The species has also been used for weed control as they can be voracious ...

  • Giant Goramy Tinfoil barb Dragon- fish Golden barb Fish Giant Goramy can grow to 2 feet long. A smaller type is commonly kept in home aquariums, but it can grow to a huge size. Be careful and be sure you can keep them. If you cant, look for a good home. They are trusting pets and shouldnt be eaten. These fish are like lung fish because they can breath air like a land animal. They also seem very intelligent. Goramy are, in many peoples view, the most intelligent fish available to the hobbyist. They have distinct personalities, and each one is different. They can be tame and allow people to pet them, but can also show their irritation. These are huge, powerful fish and need care. This fish seemed very intelligent and interested in the people walking by. It seemed to be aware of individual people and showed some interesting behavior. They are a unique fish. They build nests of weeds and twigs. They may change color according to their mood and background.
