- Family History: An Easy Way to Create Genealogy "Family Books" that You Can Share with Your Family A Treasure Maps Genealogy newsletter reader wrote: "Was wondering if you could help me? Im frustrated and dont know who to turn to. Ive looked on your website, but could not find an answer to my question. I have Family Tree Maker which is great for storing all my information. Some of my lines are 30 generations back. I have been collecting info for about 40 years, wow how time flies. I have put together books for some of my relatives years ago, but that was when I only had 6 or 7 generations back. I want to put another book together but want it to be easy to read and not confusing. I tried some of the reports in Family Tree Maker and I was getting confused after a few generations. I want to eventually include pictures, other siblings and stories about each person, but want to start with just the basic facts and just ancestors only. Do you have anything to help me decide how to start and organize such a book or know where I could go on the internet to find such information? Is there a code system that works the best? I appreciate your feedback." This video gives a solution to this problem. You can see the full article at: ;-) Robert Ragan

- Merovingian Genealogy, Ascention, and The Leap From the Lion's Mouth The Ishtar Gate was the 8th gate to Babylon and its walls contained bulls and dragons (serpents) that were depicted interchangeably. Through the gate ran the Processional Way into the city to the temple of Marduk. At a right angle to the walls of the gate we find a wall adorned with Lions! The Ishtar Gate is symbolizing two of the four Cherubim signs of the zodiac at right angles exactly as they appear on the zodiac and may therefore represent the fixed cross or the Galactic Cross. The famous Sphinx at Giza is facing due East where it aligned with its celestial counter part in the sky Leo (The Lion) at the vernal equinox around 10.500 BC (Time of the Great Flood). This was the time that the summer solstice Sun aligned with the Dark Rift of the Milky Way; it was the time of a Great Celestial Conjunction. Here we are nearing 2012.. perhaps a Leap of Faith from the Lion's mouth (gate) will usher in the new Eon, as we gradually eclipse the Dark Rift of the Milky Way for the the first time in thousands of years.. We welcome back the Central Sun.

- Mormon Genealogy & Family History is a video describing how to learn more about the Mormon Church. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the largest genealogical library in the world. This is evidence of the importance the Church puts on genealogical work (now more commonly referred to as Family History). The reason for such interest in ancestors comes from doctrines of the Church. Mormonism teaches that after death, a person's spirit still has the opportunity to learn about the gospel, and accept Jesus Christ as his Redeemer. But in order for him to become a member of Christ's Church, he must be baptized and have other saving ordinances performed in his behalf. This is the job of those who are still living. In temples, members are baptized, or have other ordinances done, on behalf of those who have passed away (such work is said to be done "by proxy"). This gives that person, if he chooses to accept it, the opportunity to become a member of the Church. Every person who has ever lived has a right to make such an important choice. Members of the Church are strongly encouraged to only perform ordinances for people from their own family lines, and to obtain permission from surviving descendants of the recently deceased. The LDS Church gathers genealogical information in two ways—through people who submit names of members of their own families, and from public records (as governments allow). These two ways of gathering information are called "submitting names" and "extracting ...

- Blues Genealogy: "Sweet Home Chicago" - Blues Guitar Lessons - David Hamburger FULL POST w/ tab: su.pr David Hamburger - truefire.at Over the years I've had the pleasure of teaching at various workshops in the company of some fabulous blues guitarists, including Paul Rishell, Steve James and Duke Robillard, among others. I've always soaked up as much as I could from these experiences, realizing early on that as long as no one who was paying me to teach realized just how much I was actually learning myself, I was pretty much sitting on so much velvet. The thing I've always envied about these guys is their hands-on connection to the past. Steve's got stories about backing up Furry Lewis onstage in Memphis in the early '70s. Duke told me once how he got called up to sit in with Muddy Waters, while Freddie King was already onstage too, and Freddie proceeded to glower at Duke the entire time for messing with his own Muddy moment. "And Freddie was a big guy!" laughed Duke. But the best of all are Paul Rishell's stories about backing up Howlin' Wolf in Boston, also in the early '70s. After one session, one of the other musicians asked Wolf if he had any words of wisdom for a young, up and coming bluesman. Wolf looked the afro'd and dashiki'd guitarist up and down and growled, "Yeah! Throw them pedals in the river on the way to the barber shop!" So I wish the things I am about to tell you, I learned from hanging with Robert Lockwood Jr., sitting in with Roosevelt Sykes, and catching Magic Sam at his incendiary Ann Arbor Blues Festival appearance in the ...

- Get Original Genealogy and Family History Records with FamilySearch New Record Search Pilot site You've got to try this. You may have been to the FamilySearch site before, but what they are working on is truly wonderful. I'm talking about access to copies of free original genealogy records - and you've got to see their new search interface. Very, very nice. Try your own genealogy and family tree searches just like the example in this video shows, and be sure to save the copies of the original records that you find. This is happening in part (a large part) because of "thousands of volunteers around the world who are helping to make more free records available online through FamilySearch Indexing." You will see links asking for volunteer "Indexers" on the Pilot site. I imagine many of Treasure Maps readers are involved with this already. The FamilySearch, Record Search - Pilot Site, is only going to get better and better. And bless all of you volunteers. Good luck ;-) Robert
