- Criticisms to Functionalism : Quantum Fallacies Here I dissect one of Stuart Hameroff's interviews and his criticisms of a functionalist perspective. I feel Hameroff grossly misrepresents the functionalist position and his arguments contain many logical flaws. He is still stuck in quasi-Cartesian thinking and his dialogue reflects these assumptions. I do not feel I took Mr. Hameroff out of context and would have addressed a few more of his points. I encourage you to check out the interview for yourself.

- Is consciousness subjective? A response to some of 0ThouArtThat0 points raised in the following videos: I briefly skim over what I think are some of the main differences between the views held by ThouArtThat and myself. Highlighting perhaps some issues for further discussion. I agree with a panexeriencial ontology but do not think it provides enough useful insight to distinguish "entities" that we consider conscious from "entities" that we do not. The following paper poses some views that perhaps we both agree upon. And is partly influenced by panexperiencialism, enactive/sensory motor/embodied approaches, functionalism etc. (Do not let the neo-realist label put you off too much! There are a few important issues raised here!) Oh and a brief point I mentioned about patterns and set theory:

Three generations of architects were active here; the older generation, still influenced by Cubism, include Janak and Gocar; the middle generation, whose works were purist and functionalist, include Linhart and Stary; and the younger generation, for example, Ladislav Zak, who with their sweeping forms wished to distance themselves from 'white functionalism'.

- The Three Minute Sociologist (uh oh, this one is 6 minutes!): One view of Functionalism One view of Structural Functionalism 1. Start with this basic assumption: Society is a set of interdependent parts. 2. Choose a social situation like providing health care for a society. 3. What are the needs of this situation? That is, what is supposed to be done here? 4. Think about this situation as part of a system. 5. Ask yourself: What are the parts that make up the system? What function does each part serve? What are the parts relationships with the other parts? 6. You might want to draw a diagram with circles for each part and arrows that show the connections between the parts. 7. Are there any "gaps" between what is supposed to happen and what the system is able to do? Is this the basis for change?

- Inequality: is it 'functional'? Contrasting perspectives on inequality: functionalism versus conflict theory. It's one of the main debates in social theory. Functionalists argue that you need to have differential rewards for people to be motivated to fill the most functionally necessary roles. Everyone benefits from a stable, functioning system. Conflict theory suggests the opposite, that inequality leads to social conflict, and is therefore not beneficial to all. They also disagree about how to ***yze inequality: is it a gradual hierarchy with multiple layers, or a fundamental split between those who own and those who do not?
