- Kreisler plays Kreisler-Liebesleid This is Fritz Kreisler playing his own peice Liebeslied (sorry I don't have a video). I am in love with Kreisler's sound. His playing is so romantic, elegant, and beautiful that he must be regarded as one of the great violinists of all time. Plus, who can argue with a violinist who wrote the damn peice in the first place?

- (Rare!) Fritz Kreisler's 80th Birthday Interview (Part 1) (1955-02-02) Quite a rare material. Fritz Kreisler is interviewed by Abraham Chasens, the musical manager of WQXR Radio station, on his 80th birthday, February 2nd, 1955. This was special tribute program broadcasted on that day. And as far as I know, this is the only recording of Kreisler's voice which was commercially available. (except for few other radio transcriptions and newsreel soundtracks). Before the interview, we can hear "transcribed greetings" of his collegues, Mischa Elman, Yehudi Menuhin, Nathan Milstein, Erica Morini, Joseph Szigeti, Ruggiero Ricci, Isaac Stern. While the actual interview recordings are playing, you can see the photos of Kreisler and cellist Pablo Casals' having conversation in 1958 (Courtesy of the LIFE magazine)

- Fritz Wunderlich : Ännchen von Tharau In 1636, a young girl (17 years old, named Anna Neander) was getting married to a minister, Johannes Partatius. Simon Dach, a baroque poet who was born in Memel, (1605-1659), was invited to the wedding. He fell in love with Anna Neander and wrote a poem about her: "Ännchen von Tharau." In 1912 a statue of Ännchen von Tharau was erected in honour of the poet, Simon Dach in Memel (or Klaipeda in present day Lithuania). It got lost (destroyed) during the 1st world war. In 1989 members of the "Ännchen von Tharau Verein" (Society), founded by "vertriebenen Memelländern", (Germans who were driven out of the Memelland) and exiled Lithuanians, erected the new statue of Ännchen von Tharau. The original poem was written in Plattdeutsch. These were later put into Hochdeutsch by Johann Gottfied Herder in 1778. Having studied German (including Old and Middle High German) at University in the 1960s I have some fascination with this so I append the original words ... The English words subtitled onto the video are largely those of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Anke van Tharaw öß, de my geföllt, Se öß mihn Lewen, mihn Goet on mihn Gölt. - Fritz Wunderlich Handel: Xerxes "Ombra mai fu" (Largo) Vinyl Fritz Wunderlich Handel: Xerxes "Ombra mai fu" (Largo) Handel: Xerxes "Ombra ma fu" (Largo) Fritz Wunderlich, lyric tenor an operbathosa video Friedrich "Fritz" Karl Otto Wunderlich (September 26, 1930 September 17, 1966) was a German lyric tenor, born in Kusel in the Rhineland. His mother was a violinist and his father was a choir-master. For a short time, the family kept the inn "Emrichs Bräustübl". Fritz's father lost his job due to pressure imposed upon him by local ***s, in addition to suffering from a severe battlefield injury. He committed suicide when Fritz was five years old. The story regarding Wunderlich's discovery parallels many of his contemporaries (notably Nicolai Gedda and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau). As a young man Wunderlich worked in a bakery. At the insistence of neighbors and passers-by who had witnessed his musical gifts and beautiful voice, Wunderlich decided to begin studies in music. He managed to obtain a scholarship in order to pursue his studies at the Freiburg College of Music where he studied French horn and voice. Wunderlich was soon noted as a brilliant young tenor, especially in Mozartian roles, but he later expanded his reach to the full range of the lyric tenor repertoire. It was the fashion during Wunderlich's career for German theaters to perform operas in the local rather than original language. Therefore, most of his recordings of the standard operatic repertoire are sung in German, including Verdi's Rigoletto and Don Carlos ...

- Fritz Wunderlich : Il mio Tesoro (Live in concert) Don Giovanni - Mozart I really hope no one takes offense at the inclusion of several pictures of the young family that Fritz left behind in 1966 ... his treasures indeed!! John, Nicolai, Placido, Alfredo, Stuart, Fritz, Luigi, Jussi, Anton and maybe others.
- Fritz Lang prefers 'M' Fritz Lang talks shop and notably discusses 'M' and Peter Lorre. Interesting insight into Lang's directorial methods. The clip shown at the beginning is from "Le Mépris", by Jean-Luc Godard (1963) with Brigitte Bardot and Michel Piccoli, also starring Fritz Lang as himself.
- Metropolis-by Fritz Lang- Maria's transformation Metropolis is a silent science fiction film directed by Fritz Lang and written by Lang and Thea von Harbou. Music by Gottried Huppertz. Lang and von Harbou, who were married, wrote the screenplay in 1924, and the story was novelized by von Harbou in 1926. It is set in a futuristic urban dystopia and examines a common science fiction theme of the day: the social crisis between workers and owners in capitalism. The film stars Alfred Abel as the leader of the city, Gustav Fröhlich as his son, who tries to mediate between the elite caste and the workers, Brigitte Helm as both the pure-at-heart worker Maria and the debased robot version of her, and Rudolf Klein-Rogge as the mad scientist who created the robot. Metropolis was produced in Germany in the Babelsberg Studios by Universum Film AG (UFA) and released in 1927 during a stable period of the Weimar Republic. The most expensive film of its time, it cost approximately 7 million Reichsmark to make. The film was cut substantially after its German premiere, and there have been several efforts to restore it.
