Australia Day and Swiss German verb conjugation part 2 hope all you who celebrated it had a brilliant australia day! ♥ verbs: -if you have an alveolar or palato-alveolar fricative or affricates at the end of the verb-stem, then you have to add an "i" to the second form singular before adding the -sch. eg: °losä -- du losisch (you listen to) °läsä -- du lisisch (you read) °küssä -- du küssisch (you kiss) -whenever you have a stressed ä and a double s afterwards, you turn the "ä" into an "i" for the singular forms. eg: °mässe -- ich miss, du missisch, er/sie/es misst, mir/ihr/sie mässät (to measure) °ässä (to eat) °frässä (to eat greedily (or for animals)) -- try and conjugate that one in the comments if you want :) -other irregular verbs: °wüssä -- ich weiss, du weisch, er/sie/es weiss, mir/ihr/sie wüssät (to know) °gäh -- ich gib, du gisch, er/sie/es git, mir/ihr/sie gäbät or gänd - i just thought the other plural form might be easier for you, but both exist (to give) °näh -- ich nimm, du nimmsch, er/sie/es nimmt, mir/ihr/sie nämmät °cho -- ich chummä, du chunnsch, er/sie/es chunnt, mir/ihr/sie chömmät (to come) °müessä -- ich/er/sie/es muess (or muen), du muesch, mir/ihr/sie müend (or mönd) hope you're all going great! x mary

Woodstock Our take on Joni Mitchell's peace anthem of a generation. Pamela Hanson: Vocals Kevin Kraft: Piano, Vocals Alveolar fricative distortion: Canon Here are the words we sing: I came upon a child of God He was walking along the road And I asked him, "Where are you going?" This he told me: He said, "I'm going on down to Yasgur's farm. Gonna join in a rock 'n' roll band Gonna camp out on the land And set my soul free." CHORUS: We are stardust We are golden We are caught in the Devil's bargain (We are billion-year-old carbon) And we've got to get ourselves Back to the garden Can I walk beside you? I have come here to lose the smog And I feel myself a cog In something turning Maybe it's the time of year Or maybe it's the time of man I don't know who I am But life is for learning (CHORUS) By the time we got to Woodstock We were half a million strong And everywhere there was song and celebration And I dreamed I saw the bomber-death planes Riding shotgun in the sky Turning into butterflies Above our nation (CHORUS) Even though Joni Mitchell did not perform at Woodstock, her song is the most enduring description of the event and its significance to 1960's American pop culture and the Anti-War Movement.
Masha Allah! A brave female HAMAS dances with AK47!!! Some disagreement exists over the meaning of the word "Hamas". Hamas is an acronym of the Arabic phrase حركة المقاومة الاسلامية, or Harakat al-Muqāwama al-Islāmiyya or "Islamic Resistance Movement". In Arabic the word "Hamās" translates roughly to "enthusiasm, zeal, élan, or fighting spirit". The initial consonant is not the ordinary of English, but a slightly more rasping sound, the voiceless pharyngeal fricative, transcribed as; it is for this reason that speakers of Hebrew frequently use the voiceless uvular fricative, the equivalent sound for most Hebrew speakers. The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing formed in 1992, is named in commemoration of influential Palestinian nationalist Sheikh Izz ad-Din al-Qassam. Armed Hamas cells sometimes refer to themselves as "Students of Ayyash", "Students of the Engineer", or "Yahya Ayyash Units", to commemorate Yahya Ayyash, an early Hamas bomb-maker killed in 1996. ------------------------------------------ READ!!! The "-sion" sound in American English American English makes a slight distinction between the voiced and voiceless versions of this sound. The Rhythms of Latin Poetry: Hexameter This is a reading of a short passage from Vergil's Aeneid (book 6, lines 836-853) in the restored classical pronunciation of Latin. This involves features such as phonemic vowel length distinctions, consistently hard C, semi-vocalic V, diphtongal AE, aspirated (as opposed to fricative) PH, and so on. With this video, I hope to illustrate how antique Latin poetry (hexameter in this case) is defined by the rhythm arising from a regular alternation between long and short syllables. In the subtitles, I have marked the syllable quantities by means of musical notation: quarter notes denote long syllables, and short syllables are marked with eighth notes. The height of the notes corresponds roughly to the level of stress. In connection with this, I want to discuss the concept of *ictus*, which I regard to be the beat or pulse of the verse, arising from the regular occurance of a metrically prominent part of the verse feet; in the case of the hexameter, this is the consistently long first syllable of every dactyl. Note that by this definition, the ictus is *perceived* rather than *performed*. However, when Latin poetry is read today, it is often the case that the ictus is expressed by means of stress, which subordinates or totally replaces the natural word accents. This is, I believe, mainly because of a marked difficulty for modern speakers to keep the concept of stress separate from that of metrical length, ie to not inadvertently lengthen all stressed syllables while ...

Vocal Reverb Description This isn't really vocal reverb but reverb on individual beatbox sounds. Method 1. Choose your beatbox sound you wish to add reverb to - percussive or plosive sounds such as { b } or { k } work well. 2. Choose the sound you wish to use as your reverb - this will traditionally be a fricative or continuous sound such as { f } , { sh } or { h }. Try and see which sounds best for your sound. 3. Create your sound, then leave a small gap between it and the reverb sound. This gap is called pre-delay and with real reverb, it is the time it takes for the sound to bounce off the nearest wall. So { k } would become { kh } 4. The reverb needs to get quieter over the period of the sound. So { k } becomes { k hhh } For more tutorials visit

Tongue Twisters In which Hank proves that he can think too much about ANYTHING by thinking too much about Tongue Twisters. It's all about the sibilant fricatives baby. Tongue twisters are actually a universal game that all people play regardless of language. The best ones have a few qualities: 1. They will trip you up 2. They're fun to say when you get it right 3. Opportunities for Embarassment 4. Excellent Rhythm and cadence and possibly rhyme as well. Psycho-linguists (yes, that's a thing) still don't know exactly why tongue twisters trip people up, but they do know that it has more to do with the mind than the tongue. But the point is that speech is far more complicated and wonderful than we generally give it credit for, and tongue twisters are one of the few opportunities we really get to enjoy how amazing it really is.
