Amazing Grace (harmonics) I don't know if you knew but it is possible to play the pentatonic scale on the guitar using natural harmonics only. Here is a demonstration on "Amazing Grace". I use the flageolets at the positions of 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 and 1/6 of the string which is the 12th, 7th, 5th and 3somethingth fret, respectively. I added some hammering on of the base notes in the end. Btw, you can also play the pentatonic scale on the black keys of a piano. Please let me know what you think of this.

Guitar: The Sweet Nightingale If you are looking for the Disney song of a similar name, then you have come to the wrong place. Still while you are here, you might like to listen to this song instead. According to Wikipedia, Sweet Nightingale, also known as "Down in those valleys below" is a Cornish folk song which probably dates from the Seven***th Century, and is said to be a translation from the ancient Cornish tongue. Cornish is a Celtic language as is Manx so it is perhaps not too inappropriate that a Manxman should be singing it, especially as my great-grandfather came to the Isle of Man from St Just in Cornwall in the middle of the nine***th century and settled in Foxdale, a mining village in the middle of the south of the island. I am trying to play the flageolet (posh name for a penny whistle!!) at the beginning of the song, but to prevent distortion from the microphone, I have to turn away from the camera. This has been inspired by the whistle playing of my friend Gordon (hostroute) from Scotland.

Gizz's C Party Slow roasted Shoulder of lamb with flageolet, green beans and roasted garlic 1 x shoulder of lamb, on the bone sea salt and freshly ground black pepper 2 bulbs of garlic, cut in half horizontally so you can see the face of the garlic 3 sprigs of rosemary 1 bottle of white wine 600ml fresh chicken stock 3 x 400g cans flagolet beans 500g green beans, trimmed and blanched 2 tablespoons crème fraiche 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard 1 lemon, zested a small bunch of mint, finely chopped Heat oven to 220C. On a hob, heat up a roasting tray. Add int the oil until it shimmers. Season the lamb shoulder with salt and pepper. Brown the meat all over then place in the oven with the halved garlic bulbs for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes remove the meat from the oven. Turn down the oven to 170C. Pour over the rosemary, wine and stock, cover with foil and pop back in the oven for 4 hours. For the last half and hour add in the flageolet beans. Remove from the oven and transfer the lamb to a serving plate. Finally mix in the green beans, crème fraiche, mustard, lemon and mint and any seasoning it may need.

Valentine's Day Dinner for Two A simple, delicious and extremely quick 3 course dinner for Valentine's Day. Recipe below. -Baked camembert with french bread -Tuna steaks with salsa verde, flageolet bean salad and roasted cherry tomatoes -Lemon sorbet Martini Serves 2 (obviously) 1 box Camembert cheese 1 small baguette 2 tuna steaks Handful of parsley Small handful of mint 1 tablespoon capers 3 anchovies 1 tablespoon dijon mustard Juice of 1 lemon 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 tin flageolet beans half a red onion Small handful of coriander Cherry tomatoes, on the vine 1 tub of good lemon sorbet Ice vodka Preheat the oven to 200C. Take the cheese out of its wrapping and return it to the box. Prick a few times with a fork and pour in a little white wine. Put the lid back on the cheese and bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Finely chop the parlsey, mint, capers and anchovies and mix with the mustard, lemon juice and olive oil. When the cheese has been in the oven for 20 minutes, tip the beans into a saucepan and heat gently for 4 minutes. Drain. Finely chop the onion and coriander and stir into the beans. Drizzle with olive oil and keep warm. Remove the cheese from the oven, replacing it with the cherry tomatoes. Serve the Camembert with the baguette. Return to the kitchen, making sure your Valentine's date has a full glass. Heat a griddle pan till smoking hot. Rub the tuna steaks all over with oil, salt and pepper, and fry for 45 seconds on each side. Serve with the bean salad, roast cherry tomatoes, and a blob ...

LU 1000, clasico y flamenco) - all solid wood - rosewood body with fine SPRUCE top, mahogany neck with ebony fretboard and beautiful rosette inlay. Strings used are 'SAVAREZ New Cristal'. Real bone is used for saddle and bridge inlay. All together gives me that wanted and favourite tone with an authentic spanish touch. This model is not a true Classic Style Guitar and not a true Flamenco Style Guitar - its construction has influences from both worlds so that sound and playing comfort is placed in the middle of that (some call it 'flamenca negra'). I really like this guitar - sometimes more than a steel-string, because of its brightness and fast intonation. I also use it for playing at church - HALLELUJA! -

Flageolet and Guitar: Annie's Song (Take 2) I am uploading two versions of Annie's Song as experiments, so choose for yourselves which you prefer. If I were a more accomplished guitarist, I am sure I could have done a better job of the accompaniment, but I have tried my best! In this version, I attempt to play my flageolet, an instrument I have not played on any of my previous videos, so it is a double experiment. If I had the necessary video equipment, I should have liked to have been able to combine the two instruments by recording each separately, but as I only use my Logitech web cam, I cannot do this. When one of my friends plays this song, I usually accompany him with my mandolin, but trying to play that as well would not have worked I think!
