Be the Dinosaur traveling museum exhibit - Hunting Pair Note: This video shows off the artificial intelligence of the dinosaurs in the exhibit. The video was "shot" like a wildlife documentary in that all of the behaviors were observed, they occurred in real-time with no foreknowledge on our part of the events - I just had to rush and get the camera into as good a position as I could to record the events. Afterwards, like a wildlife documentary, we assessed the footage captured and edited it together to "tell the story". Be theDinosaur allows museum visitors to do what they have always wanted to do - to "become" dinosaurs. Taking control of a digital animal in a detailed simulated ecosystem replete with wind currents that circulate odors, plant life with different nutritional values, artificially intelligent dinosaurs, mammals, reptiles and birds, etc.. Pam Glover and Jerrold Turner Exhibit - Dec 2009 Epperson Gallery's exhibit of Pam Glover and Jerrold Turner's plein air paintings from Dec. 5 through Jan. 10, 2010. This is a video of the opening reception. Both Pam and Jerrold are mentors of numerous plein air artists in Northern California and beyond. Pam Glover and Jerrold Turner are premier plein air artists who have links to The Society of Six. More on Pam and Jerrold follows. Pam Glover is recognized as one of the major plein-air landscape painters in California and an important mentor to many Northern California painters. Influenced by early years in foreign lands, Glover is best known as a plein-air painter in the Colorist tradition. Her work is notable for bold, rapid brushwork and the use of oil paint using brilliant pigments. She continues in the tradition of the Society of Six, who broke new ground in the 1920s with their bright, Fauvist paintings of local East Bay scenes. Glover has influenced hundreds of students through her outdoor classes taught for the past 25 years through the Orinda Community Center. A lasting tribute to Pam is the self-described Glover Group former students who have gained recognition in their own right and who carry on the Colorist tradition. In the 1990s, Glover, along with six other painters, formed the Outsiders seven painters who derive their inspiration from the Six and the Bay Area Figurative School. He chose Smooth-On's Rebound® 25 brushable silicone to make the molds for several reasons; Rebound® 25 is easy to apply and cures quickly. Molds are used in production the next day. The rubber reproduced the detail of the bamboo perfectly. The detail was subsequently reflected in each and every concrete panel. Rebound® 25 is strong and stretchy so it can withstand the physical stress of demolding hundreds of highly detailed concrete castings. Rebound® 25 also withstands chemical attack from the GFRC. The current locos on display are 7325, 80079, 600 Gordon, 4930 Hagley Hall, 47383 and 1000 Midland Compound (courtesy of the NRM). 48773 and 1501 will be installed in the near future. NC Zoo Exhibits Giant Hummingbirds Most people recognize hummingbirds as the very tiny creatures we often see near our homes. However, not all hummingbirds are small. Zeta-Designs - Small feline exhibit I wanted to make a new video because I dislike all my old videos. I make much better zoos and exhibits nowadays. This exhibit isn't very good, but that's because it's really hard to make something while recording, since you can't redo parts of the enclosure. It could be an aviary too, but I think this exhibit is suited for small felines like a fishing cat. London Exhibits Saudi Arabia Majestic Beginnings A collection of remarkable historic photographs taken by Princess Alice, the granddaughter of Queen Victoria is being exhibited in London. This rare collection documents the first British royal visit to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1938 and that of the only member of the British royal family to have met King Abdulaziz the founder of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This exhibition was inaugurated by Saudi Ambassador Prince Mohamed bin Nawaf Bin Abdelaziz and descendents of Princess Alice as well as more than 100 distinguished guests. Fifty rare pictures from a collection of more than three hundred are being displayed at the royal geographic society in central London. Much of the collection, which is entitled "journey of a lifetime", was taken by Princess Alice, who was a very keen photographer. It documents her three-week venture to Saudi Arabia where she was warmly greeted by King AbdulAziz the father of all subsequent monarchs including the present King Abdullah. Among the rarest pictures is one of King Abdulaziz with his sons Faisal and Fahd who both became kings themselves, and the current custodian of the two holy mosques King Abdullah also appears on in this picture. Princess Alice, her husband the earl of Athlone and her entourage were entertained across Arabia from west to east and experienced the hospitality of the Saudi Royal family.
