  • Enzyme function and inhibition (with audio narration) This was created over a couple of days to demonstrate how a simple animation can be used as a learning aid for scientific concepts that may be difficult for a student to grasp. The audio came out quieter than expected, so you may have to turn up your speakers slightly. In the above animation, the normal enzyme catalytic cycle is shown and is followed by two types of inhibition by competitive and non-competitive blockers. • Constant Burping, Bad Carbs, Enzymes Now my subscribers are writing to me about constant burping! (Sense of humor once again required when watching ;). As if flatulence wasn't enough fun, we now find ourselves focused on whats coming back UP, as compared to leaving out the other end. Oh joy! ;) (And thanks to an anonymous friend for the sound effects). Burping first and foremost is going to likely be caused by the swallowing of air; soft drinks will HUGELY contribute to burping, as we all know. If however, you are dealing with constant burping, there could be a more serious underlying problem that needs to be addressed, and that digestive enzymes, as compared to systemic (system wide) enzymes, may help with. Digestive enzymes are often helpful to people with flatulence, and its worth experimenting with them when it comes to burping issues. For those of us who are older, we slowly tend to lose a lot of our ability to digest our foods based on diets that consist of foods almost entirely devoid of the naturally present enzymes. These enzymes are destroyed via the refining and processing of SO many of our foods, especially the exposure of the foods to high heat. Raw foods, depending on if they've been processed or to what degree, almost always contain a decent amount of healthful enzymes intact, helping to break down the food into its basic components and placing less demand on the pancreas to produce these needed break-down enzymes for you. The less you tax your pancreas in this regard ...

  • Cellular Metabolism, Enzimes Cellular Metabolism, Enzimes Enzymes allow many chemical reactions to occur within the homeostasis constraints of a living system. Enzymes function as organic catalysts. A catalyst is a chemical involved in, but not changed by, a chemical reaction. Many enzymes function by lowering the activation energy of reactions. By bringing the reactants closer together, chemical bonds may be weakened and reactions will proceed faster than without the catalyst.

  • Digestive Enzymes, Nutrition and Your Health Nutrition by Natalie Information about Digestive Enzymes Digestive Enzymes are enzymes that specifically work in the digestive system to facilitate the digestion, absorption, and transportation of nutrients. They also work to promote timely elimination of digestive waste products that are not of use to the body. Without enzymes, our cells would not get adequate nutrition and we would not survive. Enzymes function as catalysts to enhance and dramatically speed up biochemical reactions that occur in every one of our cells. They are only activated in water, so staying hydrated is very important for enzymes to work effectively. Enzymes must be present to ensure proper digestion of nutrients, energy production, metabolism, transportation of fluid to cells, and elimination of toxins among many other functions. Enzymes exist in foods to help our body's breakdown what we eat. Raw, uncooked foods are the only foods that contain enzymes. Since the majority of our diets are cooked foods, we significantly limit the enzymes available in our food for digestion, thus putting more stress on our digestive systems. Some supplemental enzymes should be taken with food to enhance digestion and absorption of nutrients, whereas other supplemental enzymes should be taken on an empty stomach to support circulation, decrease inflammation, support our immune systems and combat stress. Imbalances in these factors have been scientifically proven to be associated with or the cause of numerous diseases ...

  • Digestive Enzymes: See the Most Important Supplement in Action Enzymes are catalysts for every chemical reaction in the body. Everything built or broken down in the body require an enzyme. In digestion they are critical. Antacids are the highest prescription and over the counter drug sales annually. Do you have bloating, gas, food allergies or sensitivities? How about constipation, diarrhea or heartburn? Nothing beats digestive enzymes. Think you can digest your food without them? Take a video demonstration with Dr. Birchall and see the proof that enzymes work. Enzymes are needed because they aren't present in food because of cooking, processing and irradiation. Food manufacturers destroy them on purpose so they can sit on the shelf longer. As we age we can't make enough enzymes. Lastly, since we don't chew our food well enough we don't have mechanical digestion working for us. Instead our body has to rely on chemical digestion (enzymes).

  • Autism and Digestive Enzyme Success Like many people (including me) who have discovered they have food intolerances, DeFelice went all-out trying to identify offending foods. Like most of us, she quickly found out that elimination diets are a pain in the neck. Try doing without all milk and grain products — and maybe a great many other foods as well. Such diets are almost impossible to stick to, and at the end of the day they arent that effective. Most of us improve, but were still sick. Then she heard about enzymes and how they could break down the foods people were trying to eliminate from their diets. Specifically, she heard about Peptizyde, an enzyme formula designed to achieve the same purpose as a casein-free, gluten-free diet. The day she got her first bottle, she decided to try a test. She gave each of her boys one capsule and an ice cream sandwich. She joined the trial, too. A wonderful thing happened: NOTHING. They had no reaction hours or days later. No migraines. No whining. No nothing. From that day forward they found they could eat dairy and grain-based foods containing gluten as much as they wished. They could stuff themselves with ice cream or bread — with no reaction.
