  • Gurdjieff is the Wizard of Oz On one occasion at the beginning of a meeting Gurdjieff put a question to which all those present had to answer in turn. The question was; "What is the most important thing that we notice during self-observation?" "Not one of you has noticed the most important thing that I have pointed out to you," he said. "That is to say, not one of you has noticed that you DO NOT REMEMBER YOURSELVES." (He gave particular emphasis to these words.) "You do not feel YOURSELVES; you are not conscious of yourselves. With you, 'it observes' just as 'it speaks' 'it thinks,' 'it laughs.' You do not feel: I observe, I notice, I see. Everything still 'is noticed,' 'is seen.' ... In order really to observe oneself one must first of all REMEMBER ONESELF" (He again emphasized these words.) "Try to REMEMBER YOURSELVES when you observe yourselves and later on tell me the results. Only those results will have any value that are accompanied by self-remembering. Otherwise you yourselves do not exist in your observations. In which case what are all your observations worth?" Attempts at self-remembering failed to give any results except to show Ouspensky that in actual fact we never remember ourselves. "What else do you want?" said Gurdjieff. "This is a very important realization. People who KNOW THIS" (he emphasized these words) "already know a great deal. The whole trouble is that nobody knows it. If you ask a man whether he can remember himself, he will of course answer that he can. If you tell him ...
  • Astounding Mating Dance Birds of Paradise -- High Quality The Birds of Paradise from BBC's outstanding Planet Earth DVD. Highly recommended! Disneynature's "Earth" is a full-length version of the 2006 TV documentary series "Planet Earth." Taking some of the most beautiful footage of the natural wonders of our planet, the film focuses on the animal world in its ironic, tragic and comedic nature. Although the violent deaths are removed, the hunter and the hunted are emphasized. When it comes to climate change, the political controversy as to the cause of it is removed, but the film repeatedly emphasizes the effects of the change. Narrated in America by James Earl Jones and in England by Patrick Stewart, the narration is interesting but shallow. Explaining the unique characteristics of our planet to sustain life with its exact orbit and tilt, the film avoids either the assumptions of evolutionary language or the wonders of theistic creation. The film also avoids the scientific explanations often included in a documentary studying life on our planet. The end result is a rather bland film with moments of exquisite beauty. The movement of the film follows a calendar year. Starting the first of January in the Arctic where winter has frozen water and land, the film progresses throughout the year and the seasons into an Antarctic summer and back for fall. But this simple movement is not rigid and the time photography showing all four seasons of a deciduous forest, or the thawing and freezing of the Antarctic in a moment, are engaging. In ...
  • LOVE AND LIFE Vivian kellie quotes carl jung "The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed." Carl Gustav Jung (German pronunciation: [ˈkaːɐ̯l ˈgʊstaf ˈjʊŋ]; 26 July 1875 6 June 1961) was a Swiss psychiatrist, an influential thinker and the founder of ***ytical psychology (also known as Jungian psychology). Jung's approach to psychology has been influential in the field of depth psychology and in countercultural movements across the globe. Jung is considered as the first modern psychologist to state that the human psyche is "by nature religious" and to explore it in depth.[1] He emphasized understanding the psyche through exploring the worlds of dreams, art, mythology, religion and philosophy. Though not the first to ***yze dreams, he has become perhaps the most well known pioneer in the field of dream ***ysis. Although he was a theoretical psychologist and practicing clinician, much of his life's work was spent exploring other areas, including Eastern and Western philosophy, alchemy, astrology, sociology, as well as literature and the arts. Jung emphasized the importance of balance and harmony. He cautioned that modern people rely too heavily on natural science and logical positivism and would benefit from integrating spirituality and appreciation of unconscious realms. He considered the process of individuation necessary for a person to become whole. This is a psychological process of integrating the ...
  • Katakana Pronunciation: Japanese Alphabet Syllabary Katakana (片仮名, カタカナ or かたかな, Katakana?) is a Japanese syllabary, one component of the Japanese writing system along with hiragana, kanji, and in some cases the Latin alphabet. The word katakana means "fragmentary kana", as the katakana scripts are derived from components of more complex kanji. Katakana are characterized by short, straight strokes and angular corners, and are the simplest of the Japanese scripts. There are two main systems of ordering katakana: the old-fashioned iroha ordering, and the more prevalent gojūon ordering. In modern Japanese, katakana are most often used for transcription of words from foreign languages[3] (called gairaigo). For example, "television" is written terebi (テレビ, terebi?). Similarly, katakana is usually used for country names, foreign places, and personal names. For example America is written アメリカ Amerika (America also has its own kanji (ateji) Amerika (亜米利加, Amerika?) or for short, Beikoku (米国, Beikoku?) which literally means "Rice Country"). Katakana are also used for onomatopoeia,[4] words used to represent sounds; for example pinpon (ピンポン, pinpon?), the "ding-dong" sound of a doorbell, would usually be written in katakana. Also for "words the writer wishes to emphasize."[5] Technical and scientific terms, such as the names of animal and plant species and minerals, are also commonly written in katakana. Katakana are also often, but not always, used for transcription of Japanese company names. For example ...
  • Uncle Vanya / Дядя Ваня (1970) see more Russian movies at The best version..., 11 October 2000 Author: ([email protected]) from Northridge, Ca I remember seeing this film in 1973 at the Royal Theater in LA I traveled for two hours on a bus to see it, and two hours to return home, and I never regretted the time spent. Bondarchuk as Astrov was brilliant, and the diluted Mosfilm color--which emphasized browns, reds, and golds--was perfect. I think this movie captures autumn better than any motion picture. Unlike the English language versions of the play, this one also emphasizes how the environment affects the characters. I dearly wish it would get released on either video or DVD. It's easily the best version of Chekhov's play---maybe the best film version of any of his plays.

  • John McCain & John Hagee vs Catholic League st0 Yesterday, Senator John McCain said he was "very honored by Pastor John Hagee's endorsement." The Republican presidential hopeful also called Hagee "the staunchest leader of our Christian evangelical movement," citing the minister's pro-Israel stance. Catholic League president Bill Donohue addressed this today "There are plenty of staunch evangelical leaders who are pro-Israel, but are not anti-Catholic. John Hagee is not one of them. Indeed, for the past few decades, he has waged an unrelenting war against the Catholic Church. For example, he likes calling it 'The Great Whore,' an 'apostate church,' the 'anti-Christ,' and a 'false cult system.' To hear the bigot in his own words, click here. Note: he isn't talking about the Buddhists. "In Hagee's latest book, Jerusalem Countdown, he calls Hitler a Catholic who murdered Jews while the Catholic Church did nothing. • Coca-Cola 1978 Coca-Cola Commercial 1978 - Coke Adds Life In May 1976, The Coca-Cola Company introduced a new Coke ad campaign, touting the brand as the soft drink for all occasions. Aimed at the young and young-at-heart, the new campaign, "Coke Adds Life to ...," was designed to show viewers that Coca-Cola added simple enjoyment to life. The campaign itself was hardly simple. Development of "Coke Adds Life to ..." began in 1973 with consumer research studies and lasted three years. The campaign's creative team came up with nearly a hundred copy lines, different ways of conveying what they wished to communicate as the basic promise of Coca-Cola. The group then talked to young people to get their reaction to the lines. The researchers from Coca-Cola and McCann-Erickson found that the lines "Coke adds a little life" or "Coke adds life" resonated with the public. "Coke Adds Life" emphasized refreshment and tried to show Coke as the perfect accompaniment to food, fun, and leisure. The campaign highlighted the soft drink's role in many situations common to consumers around the globe, and the campaign's theme was adapted to appeal to a worldwide audience. While Coca-Cola often produced advertising in the United States that was adapted for international use, in 1978 the company adapted two overseas "Coke Adds Life" spots—from Italy and Brazil—for US audiences. The Italian ad, "Flirting," follows the attempts of a young man to meet the one who will be his special girl. The viewer also sees the ...
  • German president praises scientific ties during visit to Hebrew University German President Christian Wulff praised the extensive scientific ties between Germany and Israel and in particular with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem during a visit to the university on Nov. 28. During remarks at an assembly of Hebrew University staff and guests, President Wulff, who was on a brief visit to Israel, said that the scientific ties between the two countries exceeded those even of the diplomatic ties. "These ties are very special," he emphasized, reinforcing a point made at the ceremony by Hebrew University Isaiah (Shy) Arkin, who noted the leading role that the Hebrew University has in research grants from Germany. In emphasizing the importance of German-Israel scientific research, Wulff quoted Albert Einstein, who said. "Progress originates from the exchange of knowledge." Wulff, who stopped briefly at the memorial site for the terrorist attack on the Hebrew University in 2002 in which nine people were killed, also noted that "the security of Israel is very important to us." During the president's visit, two senior Hebrew University researchers presented brief descriptions of their groundbreaking research. Dr. Noam Shoval of the Department of Geography presented his project, conducted jointly by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Heidelberg, that applies the use of GPS technology to trace the movements of people suffering from Alzheimer's disease and related cognitive disorders. We are reminded that ultimately what matters is not what other people say about us, but whether we are being true to our conscience and true to our God." (Video from MSNBC) President Obama emphasized his Christian faith in a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington. In the speech Mr. Obama explained he came to Christianity after working with churches as a community organizer in Chicago. (Video from C-SPAN) CNN and Fox News hint at the president's critics -- who've called his faith into question. CNN: "Though some may question his faith President Obama made it clear at the National Prayer Breakfast this morning he is a Christian." Fox News: "Now, this more personal expression as a 'deeply committed Christian' was seen by some as a way of clearing the air about the president's faith. A Pew poll out last year showed an increasing number of Americans, 43% didn't know what religion Mr. Obama practiced. And nearly 20% thought he was a Muslim." • Yang Short Form (Professor Cheng Man-ch'ing) This is a video of my "Yang Style" tai chi short form as taught to me by a direct linage holder of Professor Cheng Man-ch'ing in New York City over a 6 year period. Interestingly, we spent 3 of those 6 years just learning the basic 37 movements. It was an old school method of training, but the teachings go in deeply, especially in a culture where everything is about attaining knowledge with ease and quickness, I gained a subtle appreciation for taking the "long way around". This video was taken in Kyoto, spring 2009. I see a couple of flourishes in my form here and there, but for the most part I am proud my progress with it over the years. I would also like to note that the camera was running out of memory and had to speed up my form to get it all recorded. Normally, the Yang short form is preformed a bit slower than you see here, but I'm splitting hairs. The "Yang Style" form is named after it's creator, Yang Cheng Fu (Professor Cheng Man-ch'ing was a student of Yang Cheng Fu's) and the form emphasizes softness and yielding over strength and hardness (extreme yin overcoming yang). Professor Cheng Man-ch'ing was a great spirit and deeply affected the lives of everyone he taught, even generations after his death (1975) his love, kindness and compassion are legendary among his students. Professor Cheng Man-ch'ing was no ordinary martial artist and was a "Master of Five Excellences": Medicine, Calligraphy, Poetry, Tai Chi, and Painting and emphasized the unimpeded flow of ...
  • Aikido: Harmony overcomes conflict! Music credit goes to ES Posthumus. This piece is called 'Unstoppable' from their album 'Makara'. Go check them out! This is my first tribute to Aikido. The first scene is from the film 'Nico' starring a young Steven Seagal. This was the first time I ever came across Aikido and I was hooked from then on. The rest of the video is based on my favourite wrist lock in Aikido called 'Koto Gaeshi'. I have also put some clips in of the same wrist lock being used in Hapkido since one of my best friends is Korean and he'll be upset if all my clips are Japanese. Some people give up Aikido because it is hard to learn. Let me encourage you to persevere. It takes commitment and many hours of training but moves like koto gaeshi are devastating when applied correctly. And yes, that is the legendary UFC legend, Anderson Silva getting a lesson in koto gaeshi from the 59 year old Steven Seagal @ 1:48! I won't repeat what he says but if you can lip read he isn't thanking him!! WHAT IS AIKIDO? Aikido is a Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba (often referred to by his title 'O Sensei' or 'Great Teacher'). On a purely physical level it is an art involving some throws and joint locks that are derived from Jujitsu and some throws and other techniques derived from Kenjutsu. Aikido focuses not on punching or kicking opponents, but rather on using their own energy to gain control of them or to throw them away from you. It is not a static art, but places great emphasis on motion and the ...

  • President emphasizes his dedication to mould a society rich with ethical values 4-12-09 The President emphasizes that he is dedicated to building a society rich with moral values for the future generation. At a ceremony at the Sangamittha Vidyalaya in Galle, he said he would not halt this effort whatever obstacles arose. The President queried as to what the parents expected from a Buddhists school. Their desire should have been to mould a country enriched with moral values and a group which cares for the country. He thought that a majority of the country had a negative attitude towards their country. Everyone should be proud of their country and think in a positive way. The attitude in which they think of the country should be altered. Everyone was united when the battle against terrorism was waged. The President recalled of a news report he saw in television. A mother who was weeping due to the death of a child in a terrorist attack urged the President to protect the other children without permitting same the fate befalling them. He emphasized that he was against any one placing women in par with men. He said he placed them on a higher sacred place. The President was addressing the Annual Prize Giving of the Sangamittha Vidyalaya in Galle. He further said it is the onus of everyone to protect and safeguard the discipline that had been protected from the ancient past. Students who exhibited their talents in education last year received awards and certificates. Many Parliamentarians and political representatives were present, in addition to school Principal ...

When the masses are blindly following a leader during a time of crisis.. closing down of a democracy and rise of fascism is around the corner.. this is a warning.. the present President.. and ANY other future President of the United States.. has way too much power now.. Watch the whole movie here: The Wave - Part 1: The Wave - Part 2: The Wave was an experimental demonstration of ***sm movement undertaken by history teacher Ron Jones with sophomore high school students attending his Contemporary History class as part of a study of *** Germany. The experiment took place at Cubberley High School in Palo Alto, California, during first week of April 1967. Jones, unable to explain to his students how the German populace could claim ignorance of the extermination of the Jewish people, decided to show them instead. Jones started a movement called "The Wave" and convinced his students that the movement is to eliminate democracy. The fact that democracy emphasizes individuality was considered as a drawback of democracy, and Jones emphasized this main point of the movement in its motto: "Strength through discipline, strength through community, strength through action, strength through pride". The experiment was not well documented. Of contemporary sources, the experiment is only mentioned in Cubberley High School student newspaper "The Cubberley Catamount". It is only briefly mentioned in two issues and one more issue of the paper has articles ...
  • One Year Later: Lyndon LaRouche Webcast July 22, 2008 July 18 2008 (LPAC)--On July 1, Lyndon LaRouche proposed emergency action by the US Federal Reserve Bank, to prevent social chaos, in the face of looming collapses of some leading US commercial banks and other financial institutions. LaRouche presented two emergency measures, aimed as stop-gaps, to prevent chaos. First, he called for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates to four percent, in order to assure that institutional depositors maintain their deposits in the banking system. Second, LaRouche called on the Federal Reserve to make it clear that whenever any commercial banks face insolvency, they will be put through bankruptcy reorganization under Fed protection. LaRouche further emphasized that the Federal government must immediately enact legislation, to massively increase credit for vital infrastructure projects. Today, LaRouche reiterated that the Fed must increase the interest rate to 4 percent. The only exception to this rate would be federally legislated credit extended for the development of needed infrastructure projects based on a capital budget approach. The interest on this credit should be in the range of 1 to 2 percent. We would thus have a two-tier credit system. LaRouche emphasized that the 4 percent interest rate is necessary to staunch the flow of funds out of the system into speculation and to defend the US against the British and the Europeans who are trying to incite panic in order to trigger an outflow of funds from the US and a collapse of ...

  • 28. Ecological Communities Principles of Evolution, Ecology and Behavior (EEB 122) The idea of ecological communities has changed tremendously over the past forty years. The classical view stated that there were so many different species because evolution packed them tightly into the available niches. The modern view emphasizes the idea of trophic cascades, or top-down control in food chains. This emphasized the importance of predation in ecology, although it downplayed the significance of food webs, which showed the interrelated nature of ecosystems better than simple food chains. • Weight Training Exercises to Burn Fat or Cardio Exercise? - Weight Training Exercises vs Cardio Exercises to Burn Fat. What is the best exercise for fat loss weight training exercise or cardiovascular exercise? For fat loss, weight training exercise burns more body fat than cardiovascular exercise. Weight training exercise gives you a metabolic boost for 24-48 hours. The reason for that is because when you perform weight training exercise a lot of damage happens to the muscle fibers, and thus, the body has to spend energy repairing the muscle and making it stronger than before. Traditional cardiovascular exercise, on the other hand, only burns calories throughout the duration of the exercise. Once the activity is done, your metabolism goes back to normal. Because of this, weight training is a better exercise for fat loss since your metabolism is stimulated for much longer. Also, keep in mind that cardiovascular exercise cannot re-shape your body in the way that weight training does. If you are looking to have a tight and fit toned body, weight training is what you need to emphasize. With that said, keep in mind that fat loss is really a function of your diet as well, so if you are not following a diet that puts you in a slightly lower caloric deficit, you won't be able to lose any body fat. But from the perspective of exercise, weight training beats cardio any time. Conclusion Because with weight training exercise you can: 1) Increase your metabolism for 24-48 hours. 2) Re-shape your physique. Weight training ...

  • Re: Re: Wrongful Arrest of TheRealAix? Video Cam Direct UploadWisdom is an ideal that has been celebrated since antiquity as the knowledge needed to live a good life. What this means exactly depends on the various wisdom schools and traditions claiming to help foster wisdom. In general, these schools have emphasized various combinations of the following: knowledge, understanding, experience, discretion, and intuitive understanding, along with a capacity to apply these qualities well towards finding solutions to problems. In many traditions, the terms wisdom and intelligence have somewhat overlapping meanings; in others they are arranged hierarchically, with intelligence being necessary but not sufficient for wisdom; Neo-Platonists like Cus***, endorsed a 'docta ignorantia' in which the greatest wisdom was to recognize one's own ignorance of the divine. According to Rice (1958) two wisdom traditions can be identified in the Renaissance: Contemplative and prudential. Contemplative traditions, such as monastic traditions, emphasized meditation on one's own experience as a pathway to the divine: Augustine was an early and influential figure in the Christian lineage of this tradition. The status of wisdom or prudence as a virtue is recognized in cultural, philosophical and religious sources as the judicious and purposeful application of knowledge that is valued in society. Charron (1601) was an influential renaissance proponent of this wisdom tratdition .
