They're worried about the corporate bankrolling of candidates, after vast amounts of campaign cash was poured into these elections. Scott McLarty, a spokesman for the US Green Party says the runaway spending is detrimental to the country's political system. RT on Facebook: RT on Twitter:

  • THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE: Should We Aboli As required by the Constitution, the president of the United States is elected not by the national popular vote but by the vote of the Electoral College. In the Electoral College, each state receives as many votes as it has members of Congress. Because every state has two senators and is guaranteed at least one House member, votes of small states count more heavily than votes of large states. Has the Electoral College served the nation well? Or should it be abolished and replaced by a system in which every vote counts the same? Peter Robinson speaks with Jack Rakove and Tara Ross

  • Action for Electoral Reform May 14th was the National Day of Action for Electoral Reform, and seeing that Newfoundland is the Eastern Province in the country, we are getting the action a good kick start. Only 40 percent of Canadians supported our government in the May 2 election, and yet we wound up with a Conservative majority. The fact that Stephen Harper now controls Parliament after gaining only 1.8 percent more of the popular vote than in 2008 is a testament to the arbitrary and antiquated nature of Canada's Parliamentary system. We need an electoral process in which everybody's vote counts. We need a government that represents us. nationaldayofaction.ca
