Read the full blog here: This blog preview was made by TravelPod using the TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow creator. Entry from: Channel Islands National Park, United States Entry Title: "Robinson Crusoe for a day" Entry: "We've really been looking forward to the Channel Islands, as it would be very different than the types of parks we have been visiting. Eight islands comprise the Channel Islands, of which five are part of the national park (Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, San Miguel, and Santa Barbara). These islands sit across the Santa Barbara Channel, and the easternmost island in the chain, Anacapa, is about 14 miles off the coast of California. They have been called "the Galapagos of North America," as a result of their unique and diverse array of plants and animals, 145 of which are found nowhere else on earth. The Channel Islands is one of the least visited parks in the country, in large part because of its relative inaccessibility; the only ways to visit the islands are by boat with the park's authorized tour operator, charter flights, or private boat. We chose to visit Santa Cruz Island (the second easternmost), since it was the largest and offered the most diverse set of trails and scenery of all of the islands, and also because our first choice, Anacapa Island, was closed for safety reasons. The 150-step staircase from the boat dock to the island plateau has corroded and was deemed structurally ...

Kantara castle, North Cyprus The Kantara Castle is the easternmost of the castles situated on the Kyrenia mountain range in Northern Cyprus. Laying at 630 metres above sea level it is well positioned to control the entrances to Karpass Peninsula and Mesaoria plain. It is thought to be built in the 10th century as a lookout post by the Byzantines against the raiding Arabs. The castle is first time mentioned in history when Richard the Lionheart captured Cyprus in 1191 and Isaac Comnenus, the Byzantine ruler of the island, took refuge in the castle. Later, in 1228 the walls were so badly bombarded by Royalists that the walls had to be almost entirely rebuilt. Then, the castle was used as a hunting louge for nobles to hunt mountain goats with tamed leopards. source:

Camp Hero - Montauk, New York We spent part of our day in Montauk walking around the famed and mysterious Camp Hero in Montauk, New York. This video just contains a quick look at some of the sites to see there and a couple really nice shots of the SAGE Radar Tower. Nothing too fancy. In the video I feature Battery 113's eastern most turret and rear door, as well as some shots from on top of the battery. And some shots of the SAGE Radar Tower, the Well house, and a few odd structures in the woods around the trails, including a man hole. In the trip we also saw Batteries 216 and 112, the Water Pump and Filter buildings, the Treatment Plant, and the Battery 113 Trail (which is an awesome hiking trial by the way). Camp Hero is an abandoned US Air Force and Naval station on the eastern most point of Long Island, New York. It is now owned by New York State, and is open to the public year round, offering hiking, picnics, surfing, and fishing. Camp Hero operated during World War Two, and most of the Cold War. It was part of the strategic New York Coastal Defense Network that was used to protect the North Atlantic US from aerial, nuclear, and amphibious attack. There are numerous theories as to what happened in Camp Hero, as in its heyday, it was one of the most highly guarded and secret military bases in the country. There is extensive evidence of underground tunnels throughout the base all though the government, park service, and local authorities all claim there are none. From sealed man holes, to water ...

Hamshen District and the Hamshenis Armenians Converted to Islam by Force Hamshen (Համշէն) Armenians or Hamshenis (Համշենի) are a group of Armenians who inhabit the Black Sea coastal areas of Turkey, Russia, and Georgia. Most adhere to either Sunni Islam or Armenian Apostolic Christianity. Leontius the Priest wrote that in the 8th century, the Armenian princes Hamam and Shapuh Amatuni, who lost their domains in Artaz to Arabs, moved to the Byzantine Empire with 12000 of their people. They were given the town of Tambut in the mountains (S of Rhizaion). The town was immediately renamed Hamamashen, which evolved to Hamshen (the Armenian and local name for it) or Hemşin (the official and Turkish name today). This pocket of Armenian people prospered in the Pontic Mountains, and, virtually cut of from other Armenian populations, developed it's unique dialect of Armenian. In the 18th century, these Armenians who formed the diocese of Khachkar, began to convert to Islam. They retained their dialect however, and speak it to this day. These people also retained independence until the 19th century, ruled by their own derebeys (valley lords), all under the voivode (general chief). The biggest population is still centered in Hemşin, most live in the Futuna (Greek: Pordanis) River valley between Pazar (was Atina) on the coast, and the peak of Kajkar (origin of name is the Armenian Khachkar) Mountain, in the villages of Hemşin, Torasil, Pertewan, Ayren, Tredzor (Dzimla), Yeghiovit (near where St. Khachig Monastery was) and Artashen at their ...

TT/OO - Willowbranch Town (v2) Hey everyone, ...Again, sorry for not uploading many videos recently. I decided to remake one of my old themes. This theme was one of my favorite compositions, but it received the least attention. So remaking it to match the quality of my current music seemed like a reasonable idea. I also changed the key and some of the chords, plus tweaked the melody and bassline a little. Anyway, this theme is based off of G/S/C's New Bark Town music, but its atmosphere is a bit more... melancholy, if you will. Willowbranch Town is the first town in the game as well as the player's hometown. It is one of Kinsoh's easternmost cities, located in the central area of the region. Prof. Alder also resides here, though her laboratory is in Dappleton City. The player's pseudo-rival, Amethyst, moves here during the game. This was made with the HG/SS SoundFonts. If you have any requests, please write me a message at my moderator on my channel. Also tell me if you have any preference in genre or instruments. Thanks for watching!

Silesia / Śląsk / Schlesien / Slezsko / Ślůnsk / Latin: Silesia Translation of the song: Who went all world with crutches, when way in bleeding change, never he can not forget, inebriety is motherland. And when tousend song point out that, only on alien praise, I alone want my land belaud, my longing is true. You are salut on nice Oderstrand, lovely homeland, bonny homeland! Silesia, you my lovelyland. Most of Silesia was conquered by Prussia in 1742, later becoming part of the German Empire. The easternmost part of this region became part of Poland after World War I, and the bulk of it was transferred back to Poland after World War II. Meanwhile the remaining Austrian parts of Silesia mostly became part of Czechoslovakia after World War I, and are now in the Czech Republic. Most inhabitants of Silesia today speak the national languages of their respective countries (Polish, Czech, German), although there is a recognized Silesian language, considered by some to be a dialect of Polish, with about 60000 declared speakers in Upper Silesia. There also exists a Silesian German or Lower Silesian language (or group of German dialects), though this is almost extinct. After World War I, Upper Silesia was contested by Germany and the newly-independent Second Polish Republic. The League of Nations organized a plebiscite to decide the issue in 1921, whose results (disputed by Poland) showed that the majority of the population wished to remain part of Germany. Following the third Silesian Uprising (1921), however, the easternmost portion of Upper ...

Entry from: St. John's, Canada Entry Title: "Eastern Most Point of North America" Entry: "Yet another beautifully, sunny, comfortable day. I have had a nice string of these now. Saint John is the capitol of Newfoundland. The streets would give the cow paths of Boston a run for their money. First stop was for some gravestone hunting. I went to the Basilica of St John the Baptist. A beautiful building, built around 1850. High on a hill overlooking the city and harbor. They have a museum and the cemetery records there. Newfoundland in general and especially St john had a huge Irish immigrant population. It was where the "poor" Irish came to and then they worked their way down to the states. Many of my relatives passed through St John but most moved on. 3 of them, Thomas and Susannah Deady and their 2 year old son Thomas stayed and died in St John. Susannah died May 18, 1904 and Thomas later that year, December 22, 1904. Their son had died in February of 1882. I did find the stone. It was very small and worn so hard to get a good shot of it, but Audrey would be proud of me. Next was signal hill. This was military site from early on very high up and next to the ocean. Marconi also performed the first trans-Atlantic radio transmission from here. Cape Spear was next which is the eastern most point of North ...

Friends of Australia: Richard Branson on Byron Bay You can sum up Australia's easternmost town by saying it's a melting pot of surf culture, alternative philosophies and hedonistic indulgence. Or you can explain its magic in images: humpback whales cruising past the headland; rainbows on the mountains across the bay and hang-gliders coasting above the lighthouse. Our new-age paradise is known for its sweeping surf beaches, trademark lighthouse, lush rainforests and colourful mix of people. It's the place to try yoga on the beach at sunrise, massages and mud wraps at hinterland retreats and some of Australia's best regional dining. For more information visit
Welcoming Party Welcome Party tells the story of four brothers that travel in their Subaru Outback to the eastern most point in the US (East Quoddy Head, Maine), every year, in order to be the first ones to welcome in the New Year. We see a tight exterior shot of the driver's side window of a Subaru Outback?. The window is coated with ice except where the wiper has been at work. "It's not easy getting to the eastern most point in the US But every December 31st, we always make it. We see the vehicle pulling up to the rocky outcrop at dusk. The four get out of the car, which is packed to the ceiling with gear. We see the guys setting up tents and lawn chairs around a fire. "The very first people in the country to meet the New Year. Head-on." We see the guys now sitting around the fire, wearing cheap New Year's party fireworks. "We like to think of ourselves as a welcoming party." We cut and see the four of them overlooking the ocean. "For the life you live, a car you can love. It's called a Subaru." Learn more:

TT/OO Willowbranch Town - Original Composition Hey everyone, My second composition for ThunderTopaz and OceanOpal, Willowbranch Town is the first town in the game as well as the player's hometown. It is one of Kinsoh's easternmost cities, located in the central area of the region. Prof. Alder also resides here, though her laboratory is in Dappleton. I based this off of New Bark Town's theme, but it turned out really different. I think I may have overdone it with the choirs at the second half, but I'll leave that in for now. I tried to make it simple, using only five instruments: a flute, a violin, a piano, a choir (er-herm, instrument), and a cello. I kinda messed the cello up though... Ifyou have any requests, please comment or send me a message with the song you want. Also tell me if you have any preference in genre or instruments. Thanks for watching!

Wyoming Coal Trains The amount of coal transported by rail each year continues to grow. The Burlington Northern and the Chicago & North Western benefit greatly by hauling this coal out of the Powder River Basin of Wyoming. Watch as each railroad uses its own main line, and then work together on the joint line moving the coal out of the state. The Burlington Northern's 5th Sub from east of Gillette, southeast through Newcastle is the easternmost line. This section of railroad hosts much of the BN's coal traffic and also has plenty of general freight and priority trains as well. The Chicago and North Western operates over a section of its old "Cowboy Line" from Crandall to Shawnee toward the mines. On the Powder River Sub, the C&NW's Dash 9-44 and AC4400CW locomotives lead trains along with a sampling of Union Pacific power. Then the two railroads join together on the BN's 10th Sub, which is also the BN/CNW joint line. This corridor is the direct link to a majority of the Powder River Basin coal mines. Copyright 1995, C.
