Birth and death is a conscious decision of your soul. If you are ready to receive this, then you see your life as a blessing. Every night is a death and when we awaken we come back to life. The very first thought that we think determines the whole quality of our Consciousness that we live with that day. For most of us it is fear and greed. An Enlightened Being assumes the form just to share His love and compassion. Each day is a gift from God, a blessing. This discourse is titled "Path of Knowledge" and can be ordered at www.Ananda

  • Discourse Architecture Discourse Architecture Warren Sack [Associate Professor of Film & Digital Media, UC Santa Cruz] ABSTRACT: In the United States, public space is splintering into shards. Poor urban planning and the demise of many institutions of civil society are two factors that are to blame. But, media technologies, like television, are usually, also, seen to be destructive forces in this shattering of public space. Can new media technologies be designed to engender community rather than undermine it? I outline discourse architecture, an approach to designing social software for community and then present a few examples of technologies that my group and I have designed in the last several years. BIO: Warren Sack is a software designer and media theorist whose work explores theories and designs for online public space and public discussion. He is Associate Professor of Film and Digital Media at the University of California, Santa Cruz and earned a BA from Yale College and an SM and Ph.D. from the MIT Media Laboratory. Warren's writings on new media and computer science have been published widely and his art work has been shown at the ZKM|Center for Art and Media, Karlsruhe, Germany; the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York; the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; the artport of the Whitney Museum of American Art; and, in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. • Buddhism - Metta Sutta{The Discourse on Loving Kindness} Few word's of Loving Kindness , thought of sharing to all my friends. AN EXPOSITION OF THE METTA SUTTA. THE DISCOURSE ON LOVING-KINDNESS _________________________________________ ________________________________________ Metta Sutta ----------- Some 500 monks who went into the jungle to practice meditation were disturbed and frightened by animals and social people, whereupon they returned and reported the matter to the Buddha. The Buddha then advised the monks to go back to the same place but armed with the sword of Metta (Loving-kindness) for their protection. The Buddha then delivered this Sutta to teach them how to practice this loving-kindness. The monks returned to the jungle and radiated their loving-kindness to animals and social people and thereafter they continued with their meditation without any hindrance. These same animals and social sprits who had earlier created disturbances, later repented and paid their respects to the monks. This is, therefore, an important Sutta for the devotees to recite to radiate their loving-kindness to every living being. By doing so they can overcome any disturbances, find peace and happiness for themselves and help others to live peacefully by practicing this great virtue. In this clip taken from Patanjali Yoga Sutras discourse 11 (Sutra 14), Swamiji sheds more light on the deeper secrets about body and mind. Swamiji describes his very own experience of the process of psychological death where He used this very technique of Patanjali for enlightenment. When he sat at Manikarnika Ghat with resve to sit there forever, the power which was resisting lost hold on His consciousness. That very moment the mind came back to the present moment.
