4 Diptera larvae on Phellinus gilvus fungi In the center is a Mycetophilidae(?) larva, very still on a scaffold of mucus. Under it and in the top left hand corner are 2 more larvae whose heads and forebodies rapidly move back and forth (laying down more mucus?). About 1/2 throught hte video, upper left hand corner, is a Keropltidae(?) larva, also on a mucus scaffold.

Crane fly (Diptera: Tipulidae) laying eggs? Here's a crane fly in Fern Canyon (Humboldt Co., Calif), possibly laying eggs in the stream bed. I've never seen this behavior before, but since the abdomen is being stabbed into the stream (water was about 3 mm deep) repeatedly for about 2 minutes, I think it was ovipositing. Can anyone confirm?
