They are much more closely related to sea lions than true seals, and share with them external ears (pinnae), relatively long and muscular foreflippers, and the ability to walk on all fours. • Lion's Mane One of the greatest myths harbored by the public and antique zoology, is the evolutionary purpose of the Lion's mane. After intensive study, field researchers Craig Packer and Peyton West discovered the man'es true purpose. The mane has and can serve as a means of defense, albeit, indirectly. In many conflicts, cats target the hind-end of an adversary, as far back from an opponents jaws as possible. The Lion is no exception to this, as recorded by Packer and West, but there are also bouts in which Lions collide head on, grapple with their fores, and chomp indiscriminately with their teeth. There are several recorded instances in which the Lions mane staved off the most lethal effects of an adversarys detrimental assaults. Nevertheless, the mane's primary function will always be regarded as a visual communication between prospective females, and intruding males. Music (c) John Debney, Passion of the Christ, 2004.

  • Swarm of Beautiful Parrots Parrots, also known as psittacines (pronounced /ˈsɪtəsaɪnz/),[2][3] are birds of the roughly 372 species in 86 genera that make up the order Psittaciformes,[4] found in most warm and tropical regions. The order is subdivded in three families: the Psittacidae (true parrots), the Cacatuidae (***atoos) and the Nestoridae.[5] Parrots have a pan-tropical distribution with several species inhabiting the temperate Southern Hemisphere as well. The greatest diversity of parrots is found in South America and Australasia. Characteristic features of parrots include a strong curved bill, an upright stance, strong legs, and clawed zygodactyl feet. Most parrots are predominantly green, with other bright colors, and some species are multi-colored. ***atoo species range from mostly white to mostly black, and have a mobile crest of feathers on the top of their heads. Most parrots are monomorphic or minimally ***ually dimorphic. They are the most variably sized bird order in terms of length. The most important components of most parrots' diets are seeds, nuts, fruit, buds and other plant material, and a few species also eat insects and small animals, and the lories and lorikeets are specialised to feed on nectar from flowers, and soft fruits. Almost all parrots nest in tree holes (or nestboxes in captivity), and lay white eggs from which emerge altricial (helpless) young. • Rise of the Purple Hairstreaks - Butterfly Life Cycle The Great Purple Hairstreak Butterfly (Altides halesus) is widely distributed in the southern and western United States, but is considered a rare butterfly in most places, and is seldom seen by most people. The larvae feed on various species of Mistletoe. The adult butterflies rarely open their wings, except to take flight, and usually appear as dark charcoal/black-colored when at rest with their wings over their backs. The only time to see the amazing irridescent top side of a living Purple Hairstreak is when they first emerge from the chrysalis and expand their wings. Just like the more famous Morpho Butterflies of South America, the irridescent scales appear to change color as the light refracts from them at different angles, breaking the wavelengths up into specific frequencies, just like a prism. The freshly emerged adults appear to be bright metallic green for the first few seconds, then change color to a more aqua-blue or purple as the scales change their shape and angle during wing expansion. The ***es are dimorphic, with the smaller males being a deep metallic blue-green, while the slightly larger females are a less reflective powder blue color. Description and timeline of events show: * Eggs - (the little white blobs) shown at a distance for scale, and up close for detail, hatch in about 10 days; * Hatching - tiny, fuzzy 1st instar larva chewing it's way out of the egg, 30 minutes; * Larvae - 5 phases, called "instars", with a skin molting in between each, 3-4 ...
  • Deadly Nile crocodile kills hundreds of people every year The Nile crocodile is the largest crocodilian in Africa and is sometimes regarded as the second largest crocodilian after the Sal***er crocodile. The male crocodile usually measure from 11.5 to 16 feet long (3.5 to 5 meters), but very old, mature ones can grow to 18 ft (5.5 m) or more. Males usually weigh about 1100 lbs (500 kg), but can very large & old specimens can reach up to 2000 lbs (909 kg).[5] The largest accurately measured male was shot near Mwanza, Tanzania and measured 6.45 m (21.3 ft) and weighed approximately 1090 kg (2400 lb). Like all crocodiles they are ***ually dimorphic, with the males up to 30% larger than the females, though the difference is even more in some species, like the Sal***er crocodile. Mature female nile crocodiles measure 8 to 13 feet long (2.5 to 3.9 meters) and typically weigh 227-300 kg (500-660 lbs).
  • Garibaldis - A Cheeky Fish! The Garibaldi Damselfish is found in coastal waters of the Eastern Central Pacific Ocean where the water is cooler than tropical locations. We have see this fish in the kelp forests off the California coast in conjunction with the cooler water Catalina Goby, named for an island off the California coast. They are known to divers as 'cheeky fish' since they are curious and unafraid of divers. The Garibaldi is one of the largest fish in the damselfish family, it is a striking orange color, and as a juvenile, is marked with many blue spots. The fins of the juvenile are also outlined in blue adding to its beauty. The Garibaldi Damselfish is a very long-lived fish, it can live up to 25 years. This damselfish should be housed in an aquarium of at least 100 gallons with plenty of live rock to accomodate their territorial nature. They are extremely aggressive towards their own kind, and only one Garibaldi should be kept in a single aquarium. The diet should include various meaty foods, herbivore preparations, and flaked foods. The Garibaldi is ***ually dimorphic; the male is larger than the female and also has a lobe on the front of the head. These fish have not been successfully bred in captivity.

It takes a look at my own insecurities as well as other woman and girls insecurites. These are derived from our societies saturation with overly ***ualized women in the media, and generated standards as to who we should be. These are all false realities of what we can ever achieve. It is a long video, giving the sense to the viewer of frustration with the process, a desire for an end to the madness. The end result was a feeling that "Something Must be Done" to change all of this.
