- Obama Says The Surge Will Fail, We Will Fail. If Obama had had his way, we would have already suffered a humiliating defeat in Iraq. This man has no judgment at all. He says that he has judgment based on the fact that he opposed the war, well that's only because he's a typical whining liberal that would oppose any sort of violent action, even an armed citizen defending themselves with a firearm. If this man becomes our next President, there is no doubt that we will have a major terrorist attack in our country within two years, and our economy will go into a near depression, if not an actual depression. jbranstetter04 07.29.08 Obama in 2006: surge will fail Posted in Iraq, Obama, defeatism, shameful at 7:15 pm by crushliberalism As Ed Morrissey asks, how many ways can the Obamaliar be wrong in one speech? Oh, quite a few. Here's just one dropping from a whole steaming pile: There is no reason to believe that more of the same will achieve these objectives in Iraq. And, while some have proposed escalating this war by adding thousands of more troops, there is little reason to believe that this will achieve these results either. ... As Ed also points out, Barry O wants the same surge tactic in Afghanistan that he predicted would fail in Iraq...yet he refuses to acknowledge what the entire free world is admitting, which is that the surge succeeded. In other words, he wants to use a tactic that...uh...failed? But hey, let's vote for "Hopenchange" based on his "judgment", m'kay? July 14, 2008 Obama's Dishonest Op-Ed In this ...

For those of us who are familiar with Marx, we cannot miss the fact that Adorno is referring to Marx's famous 11th Thesis on Feuerbach: "Philosophy has only interpreted the world, the point is to change it." Adorno, however, is arguing that since the communist attempts to change the world have failed, this proud Marxist assertion----this claim that philosophy could not resign itself to interpretation and needed to face the reality----has become a "defeatism of reason." Thus Negative Dialectics becomes a flight back into the ivory towers of philosophy, an attempt in some ways to reestablish the abstract foundations of dialectical thinking so that philosophy can, once again, no longer interpret the world and, rearmed with a stronger ...

- (1969) L'Acadie L'Acadie?!? - The Ignant *** Scene A Clip from the documentary "L'Acadie L'Acadie?!?" (1971) Patriotic pride sends a strong message. Especially when someone is asking their country for the right to one's culture. At a time when Bilinguialism and biculturalisme triumphed, The university of Moncton, in New Brunswick was the theatre for the acadian awakening at the end of the sixties, brought back to life after centuries of defeatism and resignation. In a province where 40% of the population expressed themselves in French, it was impossible to get heard by the government in that language. In 1969, Students of the Universite de Moncton went on strike for over 100 days in a fight to get equal rights as french students. They marched on the Legislature, occupied government and university buildings, and confronted the police. The University of Moncton is New Brunswick's first francophone university designed to serve the large Acadian population, and was merely 4 yrs old at the time. Those young French canadians in New Brunswick won bilingualism for their province between 1969-71 in part because they wanted a Canada for all canadians, not just a Canada for english canadians. In actuality, the french felt as though they were being forced to join the english culture and be assimilated in order to be treated equally, I believe they were right. They asked for equality and thus met a great deal of resistance. However, through non-violent protest they, young french canadians of new brunswick, showed the province just how ...
- Dick Cheney Blasts Barack Obama and the Drumbeat of Defeatism on Afghanistan FOX News WASHINGTON (AFP) President Barack Obama has made Americans more vulnerable to attack, former vice president Dick Cheney said Sunday in a trenchant defense of his own controversial stance in the "war on terror." Asked by CNN if Obama had made the nation less safe through his reversal of key anti-terror policies, Cheney said bluntly: "I do." In his first television interview since leaving office, president George W. Bush's number two blasted Obama's decision to close down the Guantanano Bay prison camp, end harsh interrogations and close down secret CIA detention sites abroad. In his latest scrapping of Bush policies, Obama Friday dropped the "enemy combatant" designation for terror suspects and vowed to draw on international law for his administration's detention policy at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. "I think those programs were absolutely essential to the success we enjoyed of being able to collect the intelligence that let us defeat all further attempts to launch attacks against the United States since 9/11," Cheney said. "I think that's a great success story. It was done legally. It was done in accordance with our constitutional practices and principles," he said, though that stance is bitterly opposed by civil rights campaigners.
- 17. War in the Trenches European Civilization, 1648-1945 (HIST 202) With the failure of Germany's offensive strategy, WWI became a war of defense, in which trenches played a major role. The use of trenches and barbed wire, coupled with the deployment of new, more deadly forms of artillery, created extremely bloody stalemate situations. The hopelessness of this arrangement resulted in a number of mutinies on the French side, motivated neither by defeatism nor by ideology, but rather by the sheer horror of trench warfare. Due to the unprecedented scale of casualties, WWI impressed itself irresistibly upon the cultural imagination of the combatant nations. - British Army - Short Film - 'The Losing Edge' In a story where the United Kingdom has been overrun by a ruthlessly superior force, the remnants of the British Army suffer defeat after defeat in a failing ground war. When a war is un-winnable, when does defeatism become accepting reality. Who decides when surrender is cowardice or that bravery proves nothing more than a delusion. This was my final drama produced while studying at Edinburgh's Telford College in 2009. It premiered at the Edinburgh Filmhouse on the 10th of june 09 to decent avail. Critical-Response THE LOSING EDGE (Grant Rutherford) may be a little rough around the edges but certainly manages to build up a tense atmosphere in this tale of an army mission gone wrong. Paul Thompson I had actually begun filming a different script which i had intended to be my drama production, however when one of my actors decided to pull out mid-production, i was forced to restart with a new and easier idea. This script was my last minute attempt to complete my course. Although i was satisfied with the result to an extent, this entire project was shot a cut in a matter of 3 weeks and unfortunately it shows in my opinion. But please inform me of yours.... GWR

- TF2 Tactics: How fast should you be able to Build your Defense? from: www.tf2 So many people misunderstood the intention of this video. it was to show how fast you should be able to build your stuff (just like the title says) #1: ofcourse if there are other engineers or ammo is limited the actual time will vary. #2: this is not a discussion about where is the best place to build #3: this is not a discussion about on what order your build should be #4: this is not a guide on how you should play engineer This is a video on how fast you should get a sentry and other structures up. my position on this is: "if you don't think you can, you'll have plenty of excuses why you cant." and I hate that part of us. ----- Original Description ----- So I've noticed some engineers, usually build in the back instead of building to defend the first point. So I made this video to show how fast an engineer should be able to build not just his dispencer and sentry but also his teleports! Yes it is the nature of an engineer to curl up and hide behind his sentry, but thinking that you can't hold the first point is like having a mindset of defeatism. My thinking is, if you're building in the back thinking you can't hold the front; what happens when the enemy is on the last point... build inside your spawn? no! LOL! But anyways enough of my rant... hope this helps! www.tf2

DELPHINE THOUVENOT (Agence France Presse): Vladimir Vladimirovich, you often meet with President Lukashenko and openly support his regime while, at the same time, the west talks about a dictatorship. How do you explain your support for Aleksandr Lukashenko and, in your opinion, is it possible that free elections take place in Belarus in March? Thank you. VLADIMIR PUTIN: Free elections are always possible. My meetings with the President of Belarus are not support for the regime, as you put it, but support for our fraternal Belorussian people. I wish to draw your attention to the fact that we are slowly undergoing the difficult, complex processes linked to integration with Belarus. They often result in very sharp exchanges of views, for example two years ago when we separated the prices for energy in Belarus from internal Russian prices. You should remember all this ...

- 0028 Section 2, Chapter 6 Yoga Vasistha The Behaviour of the Seeker follows on from the first section on dispassion. Dispassion is disillusion in what the world has to offer. There is no self-sympathy in Rama's despondency. Is this what makes it different from depression? Depression is ego-based. Don't go into fatalism, defeatism or be a "drama queen". Daivam - fate, the will of God. Insha'allah! We are the agents of our destiny. Perhaps it is better not to think in terms of responsibility at all. - ON SPIRITUAL TV : LE PORTEUR D'EAU TRAILER OF "LE PORTEUR D'EAU" by Pascal Gelinas Canada, March 2007 - 52:00 While the West is battling it out with Islam, as bombs and killings break a fragile peace, this film follows the efforts made by the men and women of Florès Island in Indonesia, to re-invent their daily lives after 32 years of dictatorship. Amongst them, we find a Canadian, Gilles Raymond, in search of a code of ethics where action coincides with words. Through the simple quest for clean running water, Catholics and Muslims work together to instil a direct democracy and sustainable autonomy. This is a road movie of sorts, the ancient Ngada warrior culture serving as a backdrop, where solidarity rubs shoulders with defeatism and generosity overcomes corruption.

- Super Robot Taisen 4 (SNES) - L-Gaim Final Fight By the time Judau's party arrives at Posaydal's Moon headquarters, the Londol Bell is about to finish Posaydal herself... or is it?: according to Full Flat, the woman you've been fighting all this time is only a kagemusha called Mian Kuu Haw Atchar, but in this case who is the real Posaydal? The real Posaydal is nobody but Amandra Kamandra, the trader you received the L-Gaim Mk-II from. By staging this whole fake, Amandra managed to mantain himself out of the war - a position from which he could better see and steer the conflict. Giving you new heavy metals was all part of the plan, as a weak rebel army makes an uninteresting enemy and gives room for internal dissents to arise. Full Flat tries to cut her friend Mian free from Posaydal, but is quickly killed by Amandra. This causes Mian to question her master's decision to keep fighting an already lost war - for this intolerable defeatism and insolence, she too is killed by Posaydal. This boss is one tough ass due to his high level, HP Recovery and high hit-dodge rate. Plus he can move twice. Anyway, it is usually wise to gang up on him in one turn to make things easier.

- WW2 Battle of France - France Surrenders 10-12 The Allied reaction: The Panzer Corps now slowed their advance considerably and put themselves in a very vulnerable position. They were stretched out, exhausted, low on fuel, and many tanks had broken down. There was now a dangerous gap between them and the infantry. A determined attack by a fresh and large enough mechanized force would have cut the Panzers off and wiped them out. The French High Command, however, was reeling from the shock of the sudden offensive and was now stung by a sense of defeatism. On the morning of 15 May French Prime Minister Paul Reynaud telephoned the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Winston Churchill and said "We have been defeated. We are beaten; we have lost the battle." Churchill, attempting to offer some comfort to Reynaud, reminded the Prime Minister of all the times the Germans had broken through the Allied lines in World War I only to be stopped. Reynaud was, however, inconsolable. Nevertheless, a radical decision to retreat to the south, while avoiding contact, could probably have saved most of the mechanized and motorized divisions, including the BEF. However, that would have meant leaving about thirty infantry divisions to their fate. The loss of Belgium would be seen as an enormous political blow. The Allies were uncertain about what the Germans would do next. They threatened in four directions: to the north, to attack the Allied main force directly; to the west, to cut it off; to the south, to occupy Paris and even to the ...
- دليل إنتخابات السودان 2010 I really hate defeatist attitudes because they have no potential to produce any good. Many people approach the sudanese elections with high skepticism, which might be justifiable, howveer, it doesn't mean we should abandon all efforts because the reality is bleak. We know that if any party or side won the others will accuse them of falsifying the results. We know that whoever wins will have to face some groups that will try to sabotage any positive effort they will attempt, so that the sabotagers prove to the people that the winning party isn't up to tasks of its elected postion. We know that our choices are between an incompitant bunch or inexperienced groups, and that in all probability things will become worse or remain the same (which is not good either). However, abandoning the efforts altogether is replacing the possibility of a negative outcome with a certainty. It is like saying that since we are all eventually going to die we should abandon living. I've met many people who hadn't registered for the election in their belief it is a fixed one; and observed how some are accusing the election committee of cheating before the elections have occurred which is like condemning someone of a crime before it is committed. I've met some who only recently got interested in the elections, after it was too late for them to register for it; and some who decided not to vote even though they've registered in time. You can say what you want and have whatever opinion you desire, but ...
