- Beyond Raw Food (11): Part 1 of Multi Part Episode with kEyTh all day all day with me today making and preparing: an Herb Elixir starting the "decoction" process of the herb tea! A decoction is a method of extraction by boiling of dissolved chemicals, or herbal or plant material, which may include stems, roots, bark and rhizomes. Some 'teas' are decoctions. Likewise, the term is used colloquially in South India to refer to black coffee prepared by the traditional method. Decoctions, however, differ from most teas, infusions, or tisanes, in that decoctions are usually boiled or simmered. In the beginning portion of this tea Iam only doing the parts that are decocted, and those are: Licorice, Iam using the licorice in this tea as a harmonizer in the way it is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine.... The taste is also great... Licorice is not a tonic herb so you need a rest from this after a while... I, personally have low blood pressure and the licorice can increase blood pressure Licorice IS however an adaptogen Yellow Dock: is a cleansing Herb, NOT a tonic herb-- Iam cleansing and thusly this tea is headed in that direction my friend Helene's mixtures: Men's Long Life Elixir: Damiana, Fo-Ti, ginger root, licorice root, wild yam, star anise, saw palmetto, ginseng, sasparilla root This mix tastes very good with a slight root beer-ish quality because of the sasparilla root--- this stuff works great on the libido--- Im always kind of *** after having this, but not in an out of control matter... - Stimulant or Superfood? Cacao Superfood Cacao contains subtle amounts of caffeine and theobromine. However, experiments have shown that these stimulants are far different when consumed raw than cooked. Consider the following: Experimental provings of chocolate by Homeopaths indicate its stimulating effect when cooked. One experiment conducted with a decoction of roasted ground cacao beans in boiling water produced an excitement of the nervous system similar to that caused by black coffee, an excited state of circulation, and an accelerated pulse. Interestingly, when the same decoction was made with raw, unroasted beans neither effect was noticeable, leading the provers to conclude that the physiological changes were caused by aromatic substances released during roasting. MAO Inhibitors Cacao seems to diminish appetite, probably due to its monoamine oxidase enzyme inhibitors (MAO inhibitors) - these are different from digestiveenzyme inhibitors found in most nuts and seeds. These rare MAO inhibitors actually produce favorable results when consumed by allowing more serotonin and other neurotransmitters to circulate in the brain. MAO inhibitors facilitate youthening and rejuvenation. Phenylethylamine (PEA) Phenylethylamine (PEA) is found in chocolate. PEA is an adrenal-relatedchemical that is also created within the brain and released when we are in love. This is one of the reasons why love and chocolate have a deep correlation. PEA also plays a role in increasing focus and alertness ...

- South Indian Coffee Making Made Easier There are ways and ways to make coffee and varieties and varieties of coffee making equipments available in the market ..i have tried out quite a few and have found one method of making coffee which works well for me .. and im sharing it here for those of you coffee lovers who would like to try .. here is how I do it : I take about 250 gms of coffee powder ground into a coarse powder ( i blend 40:40:20 of peabury:arabica:chicory roasted seeds bought out ) add it into one liter of cold water and heat the water to about 90 degrees heat ( you ll know because thats when it starts to go over ) ; i turn off the heat and wait for a few minutes till the coffee powder begins to settle down , then pour it onto a filter cloth which is tied over a vessel ( as shown in the video ) and allow the coffee to filter out; then i squeeze out the remaining decoction from the cloth store the decoction ( you can store it for a few days in a fridge ) ; then to make coffee i heat milk to a boil ( ONLY THE MILK, NOT COFFEE DECOCTION ) and pour it into a tumbler containing about 3 table spoons of the decoction and sugar .. i stir the sugar and pour the resulting coffee into a small vessel from a height so that the coffee gets areated and foaming and then DRINK ! Note: If the milk is too rich then dilute it a bit.. you dont want your coffee to taste too milky .. this holds mainly for milk in the USA where I had found the milk could be diluted by adding 25% water ...
