Mass Spring Damper Cloth Simulation 1 Newton's 2nd law applied to a 21x21 array of point masses, where each mass is connected to its eight nearest neighbours through linear springs and dashpot dampers. The system of equations is solved using the explicit Beeman integration algorithm. The simulation is fully interactive, each mass can be picked and pulled around. All coded in Visual Basic .NET from scratch. One major improvement would be to implement the graphics with hardware acceleration, as the 3D rendering loop is currently the major bottleneck. A first step would be to implement it on a separate thread, as the whole thing is done single-threaded at the moment..... Correcting a Declutch stall On my 93 Tbird I've had ongoing issues with declutch stalls happening. Specifically when going down a hill in gear, with my foot off the gas, if the distance is far enough for the dashpot to get to the bottom of it's range, declutching would cause the rpm's to drop like a rock past target idle RPM and stall the motor. Using the Moates Quaterhorse and datalogging with Binary Editor I was able to finally make some adjustments that fix this problem.

Just got my 2011 5.0L Calibrated! Stock cal throttle response sucks! Takes forever for the revs to come down. This vid is after a new cal that reduces the dashpot, lets the revs fall faster, and gets rid of the skip shift. Compare this to my other video "Just got my 2011 5.0L!" SpringPhysics.mov I spent a day writing a 2D version of this, then I spent 2 days rewriting it in highly optimized 3D and testing it and getting some cool videos. The physics calculations are done in blocks using one thread per core with some very aggressive use of SSE intructions up to version SSSE3. The results speak for themselves - just watch. The simulation uses weighted joints linked together by constraints. Constraints can behave like springs, dashpots (shock absorbers), or any exotic mix of the two. They can be any length, can act rigid at an optional minimum and/or maximum length, and can break at a certain point of deflection. Gravity and floor friction, both static and kinetic, are both accurately modeled.

In 1992 Hector "Hecky" (first skater to jump the car in the video) went to California and bought a pair of skates. The sport was new then and skaters like Chris Edwards were pushing it. Hecky came to Puerto Rico and introduced it to Pico Rodriguez (Vert Ramp skater in video) and Pico introduced it to Cristian "Ausubo" Rodriguez and Jose "Cuervo" Veliz caught up along with Moises Abreu and Rafi Velez (holding the flag after Pico's run). In-line skating spread and many teams formed (Team Danny's, etc). AJ Jackson and Tony Cordell came as Team Rollerblade (skaters jumping the car toghether and the car wheels in video). This was in January 1994. Chirs Edwards, Chris Mitchell and Brooke Howard Smith came to the second contest at Parque Central, San Juan PR. Chris Edwards battle with a skater from Caguas called George doing flips, back flips, 540's, etc, over obstacles. It was a very intense battle. At the end, Chris Edwards experience was clear. SimulationAndConcurrency For my Simulation and Concurrency course in my Masters we had to do Galton box, and different types of balls (Metal, Rubber and Wooden) fall through the box. Physics needed to be balanced and calculated on 3 CPU Cores out of the 4 Cores we had. We also had Cloth sides that I modeled using spring dashpot technique. As a requirement we had two applications running on different machines, when u drop the ball on one box, it falls through and should continue falling through the second box on second machine. I implemented the networks using WinSocks2, Threading was done using Win32 threads, and Graphics in OpenGL FFP.

He describes two separate experimental setups to measure the elasticity and the viscosity of a material. Material elasticity can be defined in terms of stress-strain property, and defines the Young's modulus (E), which is the slope of the stress-strain curve. Fluid viscosity, on the other hand, is described by shear stress. When modeling any material, the spring can be used to represent an ideal elastic material and the dashpot an ideal viscoelastic material. All biomaterials contain some combination of these properties and can be described by physical models that consist of both spring and dashpot. James Miller - Portfolio - Physics, Networking and Threading CourseWork The aim of this assignment was to produce a distributed physics simulation using multi-threading and both UDP and TCP networking protocols. Using a UDP broadcast a new user can connect to any peers already running the system on the same local network and then TCP messages are used to communicate simulation data. Rigid body balls of three different masses are placed in a circular, walled environment and the user interacts with these balls by changing the force and location of gravity wells with the mouse, and the balls collide with each other using dynamic collision detection and response. Motion Damping With Air Dashpots The different response characteristics when pulling vs. pushing on the dashpot piston. A dashpot piston includes a low friction graphite piston, a glass cylinder, a metal mount that houses a valve on one end and a rod attached to piston on the other end. The rod is attached to a 400-gram weight falling by gravity inside the demonstrator. In push damping the piston will compress air and build up enough pressure in order to resist the weight. In pull damping, you are creating a partial vacuum. The advantage is that the pressure differential builds much quicker and the user gets damping right at the start of the stroke.
