Norman Haines Band - Daffodil, Den Of Iniquity 1970 Norman Haines Band - Daffodil and Den Of Iniquity, 1970. Many years ago (late 70's, early 80's) my other half and I would hit Portobello Market, a couple of saturdays in the month. We would jump on the tube in East London and start our Saturday jaunt (hunt for the interesting book or record) in Ladbroke Grove. It was always nice to see some of the local Rastas as I had gone to school with some of them or known them years previous. I would always have a peruse in Rough Trade, hopefully to find some left field record to annoy the neighbours with in those long winter evenings. After Portobello my other half would go to Shepherds Bush market to search out Chinese spices and then hit Shepherds Bush Road junk shops for any Chinese curio. Now this is where I would move onto King Street in Hammersmith where on the way to Stamford Brook and Chiswick there were some rather untapped (sourced) junk shops. One had a proprietor who must of been ex navy. Wore a sailors cap, badge on the blazer, ruddy complexion (rum), white hair and looked the sort who would of put his foot down in his small boat to get to Dunkirk in 1940 to save some poor souls and gain a bit of kudos in the meantime. He was known as a miserable git though. It was an endearing trait 'cause he had no trust in any of his customers. He probably never handed over more than a few quid for the crap he sold. But there lies your opportunity - the First Edition book tossed in a heap of useless bric-brac or a box of singles ...

The Daffodil Principle This is a version if not 'the' version of the known 'Daffodil Principle'. My wife and I put this together for a inspirational presentation to show at a Church meeting. We did not see any other 'Daffodil Principle' slide shows or videos so we thought we'd share the one we created. We hope you enjoy it. The music we used was written and performed by Tracy Rowe. Farndale Daffodils A film showing the famous Wild Daffodils which bloom in Farndale. During late March April each year along the River Dove in the North York Moors National Park. The paved Daffodil Walk runs alongside the River Dove for 1½ miles between Low Mill & High Mill, Church Houses. The film also includes the wonderful song Farndale Daffodils written & performed by local folk singer/songwriter Graeme Miles. This short sequence Farndale Daffodils is a scene taken from my film 'A Glimpse Of Rural Heritage'.

Daffodil Care Daffodils have been really good this year and to me they seem to have flowered for a long time. They were early coming into flower because of the mild winter, but then the colder weather in March and early April seemed to slow them down again and the flowers lasted longer than normal. At least that's what I think has happened in our garden! As the flowers of daffodils finish, the bulbs start to build up their food reserves for next year and you should always allow the bulbs to die down naturally. This means no chopping off of leaves or tying the foliage in knots as this reduces the amount of leaf area that is exposed to the sun which slows down the plants natural food making process. The general rule is to leave the foliage for around six weeks after flowering or until the leaves are turning yellow. Left to die down naturally daffodils should be fine, although there are a few more things that you can do to keep the clump healthy and flowering.

Origami Daffodil This is an original design of mine, but it seems fairly obvious so I would expect others to have come up with this design too. It is largely based on the Dragon Lily (some call it Iris) fold which beginners learn early on using normal square paper. This fold, however, uses hexagonal (6-sided) paper and we invert the base of the lily to become the "cup" of the daffodil. Sorry about the quality of the video, even though I rushed through this design, it still takes longer than the 10 minute YouTube time limit (the fold takes about 15-20 mins), so I had to edit some of the repetitive parts out.
