PIERRE DØRGE & NEW JUNGLE ORCHESTRA FEATURING ANNETTE GIESRIEGL Pierre Dørge & New Jungle Orchestra Has been around since 1980 - with some changes in the crew. They play worldmusic at the highest level, and they are in a class of their own. With a mixture of jazz, Asian, African and European music - and general madness - they create their own dadaistic universe, which gives the audience a unique and extraordinary experience. As it´s often the case, they are best live on stage, where you can hear music created by the saxophonist chewing on his leaf or Pierre playing a musical box as you know it from the kids room. Other instruments are sea shells used as trumpets or various Asian and African remedies. There are no limits and the catching joy and humour almost always guaranties a memorable concert for years to come. Pierre Dørge is a worthy heir to the Ellingtonian legacy.

Six double bassoons Every year since 2004, the ensemble Harmonia Mozartiana Pragensis (HMP) commissions a musical arrangement for voice and double bassoon of a provocatively Dadaistic text by the composer Ervín Schulhoff (1894-1942), who wrote it as a distinctive commentary on his composition The Bass Nightingale for solo contrabassoon from 1922. Each year the new arrangement adds another bassoon, so 2009s composition is written for voice and six double bassoon. Each year the HMP dedicates the premiere to the Prague City Council in memory of their failure to allocate grant funding for one of HMPs projects, even though the Czech Committee for UNESCO had endorsed it.

Tateshots Issue 14 - The Olympiad Football on stilts, the flipper race, invisible hurdling... just some of the sports that took place at Tate's very own Flux Olympiad, part of a three-day festival of art and performance at Tate Modern. The Olympiad was first conceived by founding Fluxus artist George Maciunas in the 1960s, though never realised until now. The aim of the Fluxus group was to instill artistic values into every part of life, and they went about it with a good dose of Dadaistic humour. TateShots asked artist, sportsman and Fluxus expert Tom Russotti to commentate on the day's activities and tell us about the history of the event.

Ode to 03 I started composing this track a couple of years ago. I personally see it as an interpretation of a lute piece I've never actually heard. My father played a fragment of it on his guitar and this whole piece is actually based on that tiny fragment. Now I think it's finished. And thus EnterSandman2007 wrote an amazing dadaistic/surrealistic poem (that I entitled "03") I thought this track can be a nice homage for it. Comments on the poem and the track are welcome :)
Journal of a Dadaist Interdisciplinary Spoken Word Performance by Andrew Dudich Full Text: I met Ernst in the mountains today debating with the anti-hegemon about whether Franz Ferdinand was really from Scotland or Austria. Either way, Europe was ablaze and the heat made me hungry. Antiquated colanders were suspended from the sky which created rain from the drainage of green bean cookeries in the firmament and hunger consumed me. Once I had digested myself, I could not decide if I were Romanian or simply a hobby-horse; I therefore dismissed it completely and instead inspected the empty leash. It had once belonged to r mutt, but he had evidently gone to bathe in the fountain where he played chess in a readymade inner tube. Anticipating a loss, he formulated a collage of the board and rearranged it in such a way that the pawns created a model of the Berlin Wall across the squares. Watches were stopped in Zurich and set to 4 squared past 19. A little yes and a big no came from the crowd where George and Heartfield scuffled over whether a hand had five fingers. Arp pointed out it was only half of the problem as it is really the other hand you should worry about. It was the first thing able to be agreed upon, and so they all went to New York where oxen were rarely on roofs, and the 6 played the piano while the rest raised their glasses to toast the new era of the anti-era. The bartender asked the crowd to pipe down, but an onlooker named René convinced the barkeep that in fact it was not a pipe ...

(To Kiss Away) Your Post-Partum Blues A short film directed by multimedia artist Alexander Frost, '(To Kiss Away) Your Post-Partum Blues' serves as a poetic exploration of the loneliness and desolation of the countryside. In terms of filmic technique, it employs Dadaistic rearrangement of scenes (captured over a period of nearly 18 months) and Eisensteinian intellectual montage to convey the atmospheric beauty inherent to the oft-overlooked places outside of America's cities, those still relatively unexploited areas of natural landscape. Each scene was painstakingly manipulated for atmospheric emphasis during a lengthy and intense period of post-production. 'Post-Partum Blues' is intended as a means by which quotidian beauty may be showcased, a pastoral beauty that occurs all around us, in the unobserved places forgotten by society's preoccupation with metropolitan expansion. The soundtrack to the film, originally intended as a newborn baby's lullabye, is a piano piece composed and performed by Frost, entitled 'Goodnight, Evelynn (Wherever You Are)'.
