Synthetic Cubism: Won't Lovers Revolt Now? Synthetic Cubism was the third main movement within Cubism that was developed by Picasso, Braque, Juan Gris and others between 1912 and 1919. Synthetic cubism is characterised by the introduction of different textures, surfaces, collage elements, papier collé and a large variety of merged subject matter. It was the beginning of collage materials being introduced as an important ingredient of fine art work. This video is part of the "Palette" project and pays homage to "Synthetic" period of Cubism. Video by Mark Garvey, song "Won't Lovers Revolt Now?" by Bill Hooper. Please visit for more details.
experiments in cubism This video involves the use of multiple cameras / camera angles. The three different 'experiments' approach this multiple camera use in different ways. The first two experiments are a sort of cubist approach, where I am showing the viewer one event / scene from multiple viewpoints, simultaneously. Unlike the first two, the third experiment does not seek to show the event from multiple angles, but rather it relies on the sound and the layering to express an event repeated at staggered moments of time. In this experiment, the cubism is expressed more through time and sound, rather than through an image.

Prague In Your Pocket - Museum of Cubism/Kubista Prague In Your Pocket editor, Jacy Meyer, shows us one of the most striking examples of Czech cubism, the Josef Gocars 1911 masterpiece, the House of the Black Madonna. Originally a department store and so named after the baroque statue rescued from the previous building. Its a feat in itself that he managed to build such a revolutionary façade that somehow manages to fit in the Baroque surroundings. Pop inside the Kubista shop on the ground floor to browse books and reproductions of Cubist applied art. Head upstairs to have a look at the Cubist spiral staircase and the beautifully reconstructed Grand Café Orient. The second to fourth floors of the building now house the excellent Museum of Cubism, which shows original Czech Cubist paintings, graphics (including a weird Cubist view of Prague), furniture, sculptures, and models and photographs of buildings. Cubism: Nissan Cube @ 2008 LAAS MORE LA AUTO SHOW STORIES: We've driven a 2008 Nissan Cube in right-hand-drive Japanese specification. We've also seen it as an art project in the hands of students from the Brooks and Pratt Institutes. Now at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show, we're seeing the 2009 Nissan Cube, an actual production car that you'll be able to buy in the spring of 2009. The steering wheel is on the left side in this Nissan Cube, of course, and at 156.7 inches from nose to rump, it's nearly 10 inches longer than the previous-generation Cube we tested and it also rides on a 4-inch-longer wheelbase. If we were in Japan, there would probably be a third-row seat stuffed into this extra space, but for us, the extra length merely translates to more cargo room and better crashworthiness. As before, the second-row bench slides fore and aft. Fortunately, Nissan's box-shaped car hasn't grown so large that it's no longer cute: It's still more than 10 inches shorter than the Scion xB and a foot shorter than Nissan's Versa hatchback. Just as important, the 2009 Nissan Cube has the same overall shape as its iconic Japanese forbears and retains their signature styling cues. Up front, the slotted grille and lozengelike lighting elements are familiar — Nissan hopes the fascia design makes you think of a "bulldog in sunglasses." In back, you can't miss the asymmetrical swing gate and the wraparound illusion for the rear glass. Inside the cabin, the JDM Cube's front bench seat has given way to ...

Cubism Dream - Local Natives The tenth Local Natives song from their debut album 'Gorilla Manor' called Cubism Dream. - - - - - - - - Lyrics: She flew across the sea, we talked on a small screen. A cubism dream, the most beautiful squares I've ever seen. The canvas was free, a gift good motherer gave to me. We joked at how they talked so differently. I will never know what had rot my heart, It just came and went in the dark. I had changed into the certain kind of man, that could break your heart with his own hands. We were to scan our own towns, And make good on what we found. Oh what a fool I was to think, That I could get by on a smile and a wink. I make a friend, I make you sick. Could you even imagine a kiss? We spoke of how we talked so differently. I spoke of how I felt so differently. I will never know what had rot my heard, It just came and went in the dark. I had changed into the certain kind of man, that could break your heart with his own hands. So in Australia, on Halloween. I proved what our love meant to me. The suffering, the struggling. I did it for you, I did it for me. - - - - - - - - No copyright infringement intended. All rights reserved to Local Natives and their respective Record Labels, Frenchkiss and Infectious.
