But while "Toxic Crusaders" features some of Deastro's headier lyrical feats, musically its all muscle, featuring stutter-step guitars, blazing synthesizers, and hard-hitting drums, with an unforgettable whistle-while-you-work hook in the chorus.

  • The Origins of the First Crusade The First Crusade is one of the most fascinating episodes of the Middle Ages -- one can argue that no other event would have as much of an impact on European and Middle Eastern history for hundreds of years. What is just as fascinating is that the first Crusade was even conceived and started, and then managed to achieve its goal of conquering Jerusalem in 1099. Historians argue about the origins of the crusades, but most understand that many factors culminated in motivating tens of thousands of Europeans to march across the continent to the Holy Land. The eleventh century would see a resurgence in Christianity in Western Europe, and in particular the rise of the Papacy into a major political power. Even before the launch of the first crusade, Europeans were waging what could be called a Holy War -- or at least using the ideology of defending Christendom as the reason behind their attacks in places in Spain, Italy and North Africa. Many medieval warriors saw fighting heathens -- usually Muslims -- as preferable to fighting their fellow Christians, although there was plenty of that happening too. When Urban II was elected Pope in 1088, he received messages from the Byzantine Emperor Alexius the First asking for troops to help him fight the Seljuk Turks. Alexius was looking mercenaries, but Pope Urban had different ideas -- he saw at his opportunity to rally his fellow Christians to undertake a major military campaign to the Eastern Mediterranean. At the same time reports ...

  • A clear view of the Crusades The Crusades are the least understood time in political, religious, and military history. It is often cited as when "the East met the West", or how the West introduced brutality and barbary to the innocent Islamic world. This is false, as the video here will show. For the record, the following has already been discussed to death and is no longer open for debate: *The sacking of Jerusalem - this has been beaten to death 50000000 times throughout the video's comment section. If it still genuinely interests you, go and find it. *9/11 Truth - It's going to be automatically deleted. I don't tolerate that bull***. *Holocaust Denial - Same as 9/11 Truth *Claims of American Propaganda - Come on people, seriously, when was the last time you ever actually heard a school say anything about the Crusades except that they were Christians raping innocent Muslims?

Almost 4000 people have been killed after months of unrest. The EU is tightening the economic screws on the Syrian regime and is considering an arms embargo - something Moscow strongly opposes. • The Dark Ages - Part 10 - The Crusades At its height in the second century AD, the Roman Empire was the beacon of learning, power, and prosperity in the western world. But the once-powerful Rome - rotten to the core by the fifth century - lay open to barbarian warriors who came in wave after wave of invasion, slaughtering, stealing, and ultimately, settling. As chaos replaced culture, Europe was beset by famine, plague, persecutions, and a state of war that was so persistent it was only rarely interrupted by peace. THE DARK AGES profiles those who battled to shape the future, from the warlords whose armies threatened to cause the demise of European society, such as Alaric, Charles the Hammer, and Clovis; to the men and women who valiantly tended the flames of justice, knowledge, and innovation including Charlemagne, St. Benedict, Empress Theodora, and other brave souls who fought for peace and enlightenment. It was in the shadows of this turbulent millennium that the seeds of modern civilization were sown.

  • Islamic Crusades 7: India's Modern Struggle NOTE: WHY DO I USE THE WORD "CRUSADE"? In the two years since I posted this series I have received messages from many Christians stating that they are offended by the word "crusade" (a derivation of "cross") being associated with Islamic violence. I chose to use that word because The Crusades are something that most in the post-modern, politically correct West recognize as "evil." Many westerners are still not acquainted with the real meaning of words like "jihad," "shariah," "dhimmis", etc. Hopefully in 2010 more people DO understand the true meaning of those words. In short, I chose the word "crusades" to highlight that Christians were not the only ones who fought religious wars of conquest. My intention was not to insult Christianity. Christianity is a religion of peace that is sometimes used by extremists to justify violence. Islam is a religion of war. I pray for the day when these videos are no longer needed. Until that day I will keep the name "Islamic Crusades." *For complete transcript, references and commentary visit the Occidental Soapbox blog*: The story continues from Episode 6 and addresses the plight of Hindus on the Indian subcontinent in the modern era.

  • Crusader Kings II - Seven Deadly Sins: Wroth The Seven Deadly Sins of kingship kick off with Wroth! Facebook: Web page: Forum Twitter: Reviving a dark art that hasn't been seen since the 1990s, Paradox is pleased to release the first in a series of seven cheerily ramshackle live action trailers for medieval strategy / RPG Crusader Kings II. Europe is in turmoil. The lands are fragmented into petty fiefs, and the Holy Father has declared war on the Holy Land. Now is the time for greatness, for cunning and for political intrigue. Assuming you're not the sort of king who thinks "Petty fief" was the name of his high school sweetheart. "Crusader Kings is my favourite of our grand strategy games," said Fred Wester, CEO of Paradox. "It takes that addictive core of building something epic, but the building blocks of the world are real people with real lives and real emotions, so your kingdom is always this entertainingly wobbly, teetering construct. There's not enough teetering in strategy these days. Anyway, that same focus on personalities makes it perfect for a live action trailer. "Why did the live-action trailer ever die out, anyway? Actors are classy. Especially British actors. They're the classiest and snottiest of all. We're hoping that, through exposure to British actors, our game will absorb some of that snot." "It's a metaphor," explained Quintin Smith, ex-Rock Paper Shotgun writer and author of the trailers. "In an ironic play on our ...
  • THE HOLY CRUSADES Monty Python's Terry Jones (Part 1) THE HOLY CRUSADES "The First Crusade" ByMonty Python's Terry Jones (Part 1 of however many God wants) Introduction to Emperor Alexius & The Turks. The purpose is to show parallels between Old War "Quagmires" & Modern War "Quagmires", because so often people dont realize there is so much more to "Winning a War" than what happens on any battlefield regardless of how many battles there are. Unless people are willing to entirely slaughter the other people (which is almost impossible because there will always be a few left), the Victory really comes for the "Military in Control" with negotiation agreements. When the Alpha ignores the need for free communication, its often leads to their downfall. Re-Edited by Drogo [originally aired on The History Channel]

Anachronisms: Richard the Lionheart wears a wris***ch. Anachronisms: Richard's coat of arms is shown as three lions. He did not adopt this device until 1198, four years after returning from the crusades. Continuity: Katherine DeMille's name is spelled correctly in the opening credits, but her surname is spelled De Mille in the end credits.
