It originally appeared in an all-viola version on Ljova's debut album, Vjola: World on Four Strings (Kapustnik Records). Crosstown M42: The Beginning (part 1 of 3) Rob Kapilow and A Prairie Home Companion's sound effects artist, Fred Newman, have teamed up to create an incredibly original work for chorus. Commissioned by the Young People's Chorus of New York City, to be premiered live on WNYC, Kapilow and Newman have ingeniously brought the sounds of a crosstown bus to the choir loft: Crosstown M42. Using remarkable sound effects techniques — often produced by Newman's own voice — and Kapilow's infectious talents, the collaborators have harnessed the music of everyday sounds: screeching brakes, cooing pigeons, the jibber-jabber of passengers on a bus, cell phones ringing, car horns blaring, passing sirens, bus announcements, the rumble of an engine — as in John Cages landmark work 433, the aural fabric of our surrounding environment has now become music. The creative process began by simply riding a bus together and bringing along a handheld digital recorder, we got some amazing conversations and some wonderful sounds, the two recall. Newman then took this inspiration and created a sound effects soundtrack by using sounds of his own making and editing everything on a computer. Newman gave Kapilow this first draft to which Kapilow wrote music tracks that went along with what Newman had done. This back and forth continued until they had a final notated piece of music. Originally the team was going to write a concerto for Fred, but Newman felt strongly that the chorus should learn how to make these sounds themselves. Its kind of like ...

Rock Band 3 - Crosstown Traffic 100% FC I'm going to tell you something, RB2 is much better than RB3 IN MY OPINION. Harmonix focused TOO MUCH on adding stuff for the game, but they didn't focus on keeping the basic stuff working good. (It doesn't even have Score Duel for your local Xbox... WTF!?!?, also no Hyperspeed in practice mode no matter what you do, etc, etc, the game has tons of cons and few pros...) I just have to say it once again... if it ain't broke, don't fix it. RB3 was a letdown for me, sorry but it's the truth. You can request a song and I'll see if I can upload it.

PS3 Pain Footage -- Cross Town Trophy Video of me unlocking the "Cross Town" trophy in PAIN for Playstation 3. It takes a few tries to do, but eventually you'll get a good launch out of the tube. What I do is: Once I start falling down into the tube, shake the controller to get the super ooch ready. Once you hit the box at the bottom of the tube, use the super ooch with the up-arrow on the D-pad, and then just keep hitting the up-arrow on the D-pad until you land. It'll take a while for your body to stop moving and the time to run out, but after time runs out, you should get the trophy as I did in this video. (PS It seems that I can only get the trophy using the main character (Jarvis) -- nobody else seems to fly as high for me)
