Speakers including George Baker, Associate Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art and Vice-Chair of UCLA, Department of Art History; Andrea Geyer, artist and Assistant Professor of Fine Art, Parsons The New School for Design; and artists Paul Pfeiffer and Krzysztof Wodiczko, discuss projection and installation strategies many contemporary artists have used to create immersive and cinema-like experiences in their works and exhibitions. PARSONS PHOTOGRAPHY | www.newschool.edu Contemporary artists have started departing from the large, tableau vivant treatments of the photograph, as seen in works by Jeff Wall, Andreas Gursky, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, and Gregory Crewdson. In recent years, they have employed a variety of projection devices to incorporate their photographs into temporal, audio-visual experiences, which recall cinematic contexts yet retain distinctly photographic qualities. On the surface, these works seem to meld experimental and structuralist filmmaking lineages and large-scale photographic practices prevalent in the past two decades. At the same time, the new practitioners of the projected photograph are expanding the definition of photography itself. The ...

And even if it does it will not affect those who have contracted AIDS already as a result of the catholic preachings. Perhaps one day we may have an apology from the pope about it's stance on condoms - but don't get too excited - it was only in 1992 that an apology was offered to Galileo for his outrageous suggestion that the earth orbited the sun. I have restrained myself from commenting on the pope's comments about *** and ***uality. But I would point out that it seems strange for a virgin man, surrounded by virgin men, all of whom are clearly shrouded in ***ual repression, in an institution which is grotesquely ***ist, has any right to talk about issues of ***ual morality ...

  • ADHD Medication Rules-2- Context *ADHD Medication Rules,* my new book on this subject of context and changing reality, will be a game-changer and is available here bit.ly - So many continue to forget that reality changes, and the executive center, the pre-frontal cortex [PFC] of the brain is either handling that change, or breaking down in the context of change. In the brain timing is everything. Context matters. Reality matters and changing reality especially matters to those who struggle with ADHD. Just a few weeks ago I heard a national speaker from an esteemed Ivy League Med School again declare: "Everyone knows that ADHD is a 24x7 diagnosis." Well, listeners, I absolutely don't agree with that point, and just remember, after you subscribe and send this note over to your friends... you heard it first here. This isn't anything more than common sense, and doesn't need deep studies to confirm this undeniable, basic observation. ADHD is a symptom of when that PFC doesn't adjust effectively to varying realities, do different contexts with differing numbers of variables, less structure, and absent a stimulating or frightening focus. ADHD is not present in all contexts unless the patient is a child with unrelenting hyperactivity. More details on Context here: bit.ly dig in!! Thanks, cp
