Effects of Water Dispersal and Conductivity in Microgravity - NASA WING This is the video of a middle school team's experiment in NASA's WING competition. This is an excellent study of fluid forces. Initially, the saline solution top surface is held level due to gravity. When the experiment is dropped, it experiences microgravity and fluid forces curve the top surface of the saline solution in a 'bowl' shape. This raises the outer edges so the saline solution makes contact with the two electrodes in the container and completes a circuit to light the LED. The WING experiments experience weightlessness (aka microgravity or "zero gravity") as they are dropped in the NASA Glenn 2.2 Second Drop Tower.
