When two incandescent bulbs of the same Wattage rating are screwed into the sockets and the cord is plugged in, they both pass the same amount of current and so they both light with the same intensity. When one bulb is unscrewed, the circuit is broken and the other bulb goes out. If we can replace the missing bulb with a conductive material, the circuit will once more be complete and the remaining bulb will light again. • Conductive glas selfmade DIY Solar cell transparent electrode ITO SnO2 tinoxide semiconductor How to make a selfmade DIY conductive glas transparent electrode with low resistance ITO SnO2 tinoxide semiconductor layer for a selfmade DIY Solar cell solarcell. Great easy way to make glas electrical conductive and have a transparent electrode layer fro Graetzel solarcells and a solarpanel . Here are the staps to make it: 1. Dissolve 5 Gramms of wet SnCl4 in 5 mL Methanol 2. Place a tile with the shiny side up into the oven 3. Heat the oven at 600 degrees 4. Place a heat resistent microscope slide on another tile into the oven 5. Let it heat for about 10 minutes and pull it out via the tile again when it is hot enough! 6. Spray the glas slide with the SnCl4 solution 7. Put it back into the oven for about 2 minutes and pull it then out again 8. Spray it again with the SnCl4 solution and put it back into the oven again and repeat this process until the desired electrical conductivity is reached. Due to the heat the SnCl4 decomposes to SnO2. Don´t breath the fumes and do it only in a well ventilated area, best outside ! 9. Test the electrical conductivity with a digital ohmmeter and repeat the spraying-heating process until you are satisfied with the electrical resistance of the SnO2 layer. This video is from the Youtube user HJesu who gave me permission to copy it to my Youtube channel. This will make it very easy to selfbuild great and big selfmade Solarcells. Enjoy ! Regards, Stefan.

  • Highly Conductive Film That Can Stretch : DigInfo DigInfo - www.diginfo.tv In a world-leading initiative, a research group led by Takao Someya at the University of Tokyo has developed a material that has high electrical conductivity, but can stretch and contract like rubber. The group has used this material to make integrated circuits containing organic transistors. Recently, carbon nanotubes dispersed in polymers have been used in efforts to create conductive materials that can stretch and contract. However, carbon nanotubes clump together, and this problem has prevented researchers from obtaining the desired characteristics. Someyas group solved the clumping problem by dispersing the nanotubes in an ionic liquid before mixing it with a polymer. The resulting material, with its uniformly dispersed nanotubes, shows hardly any change in electrical conductivity even when stretched by up to 70%. Someyas group has used this elastic material to make a large integrated circuit, and is studying how to incorporate sensors for temperature, pressure, ultrasound, and light. Such a large, flexible sensor could be attached to the surface of a robot, to give the robot a sense of touch similar to that of human skin. The group is also working to create a flexible Braille display, by building in actuators instead of sensors. Artificial Skin

  • Anodizing Titanium and Niobium: Science and Art Combined! and Chris Boothe demonstrate the coloring of titanium and niobium through electrical anodizing. A process combining science and art, it is used in the creation of titanium wedding rings and other titanium jewelry. When electricity is used to create colors on niobium and titanium, the process is called anodizing. During anodizing, the metal is immersed into an electrolytic bath through which an electric current is passed, causing an oxide layer to form on the surface of the metal. Light striking the surface of the oxide layer and the metal below will result in two refracted light rays which reinforce each other and produce different colors depending on the thickness of the oxide layer. This phenomenon, called optical interference, is responsible for holographic images and the iridescent colors in butterfly wings and soap bubbles. The colors are called interference colors, and were first described by Issac Newton in the 1670s. • Contactol Conductive Adhesives Contactol Conductive AdhesivesWhen a track on a circuit board is damaged it is often hard to restore it. Soldering is not easy. And what do you do if it's a track on a circuit board of a laptop keyboard? In most cases these tracks are made of film. And what about tracks made of aluminium spatter? In these situations soldering is simply impossible. The best way to solve this problem is to use the specialised conductive adhesives by Contactol. They are designed to make conductive links on dielectrics. Let's look at the following example. We have a radio with the specific resistance of 1.5 ohms per mm. Graphite is used as conductive filler along with silver filled Contactol adhesive. This particular adhesive is often used to repair rear window defroster threads in automobiles. The adhesive has high conductivity. It is also thermoresistant. Its specific resistance is 0 ohms per mm.Let's use the adhesive to repair the broken tracks on the circuit board. We mix the adhesives thoroughly and carefully put them onto the tracks that need to be repaired. We are doing it with an overlap of about 2 mm. The segments of the tracks have been cleared beforehand. The adhesive needs 30 minutes to solidify. To speed up the process, let's heat it up with a blow dryer. This will decrease the resistance. Now let's check the continuity of the tracks. To do this we need to measure their resistance with a multimeter. The resistance must be close to zero. Thus, using the Contactol adhesives you can ...

  • DIY iPad Stylus: Whiteboard (Expo) Marker with Conductive Foam After extensive trial and error I finally figured out how to make the simplest, most comfortable ipad stylus around! I've found that when I use a commercial stylus it just ends up feeling "wrong" or like my iPad isn't sensitive enough to write with. So I wanted to make something which had a larger form factor to match the large and imprecise writing style of the iPad.... kinda like a white board.... Overall this solution is very easy to make and everyone I've given one to uses it instead of their Pogo Sketch or similar. NOTE: The key to this project is finding the right foam. I ordered a bunch of different versions online, sourced a few from local computer repair places, and bought pretty much every type of IC at Radio Shack; none of them were any good. The best foam I've found (so far) has been from the IC's at Frys. The lowest cost I could find locally was $0.69 and it's enough to make 2! Product Link Here :
