  • Competency Based Job Interview Tips from CK Clinical In a competency based interview the interviewer is ultimately looking for you to demonstrate examples of when you have demonstrated certain skills and competencies. A great way to prepare for a competency based interview is to get hold of a copy of the job description. Quite often, the competencies the interviewer is looking for can be found here, so take some time to think about the times when you have demonstrated those competencies in the past. Once you are in the interview, you must ensure that you structure your answer. When the interviewer asks you to describe when you have worked in a team or when you have dealt with conflict, for example, you must answer the question having thought back to your examples, but in a set manner: 1.Firstly, set the scene by explaining the background behind the example you are about the give. This should only take around 10-20 seconds. 2.Next, talk about your part in that. For example, when talking about team work, it is a common mistake for people to refer to terms such as the team did this or we did that It is extremely important that your bear in mind that you are there to talk about yourself, your skills and your experience. Remember to talk about the role you personally played. 3.The go on to explain the outcome of that action, was it positive or negative? 4.Finally, talk about what you have learnt from the experience. If the outcome was negative, explain how you would have handled it differently. The interviewer is looking to hear ...

  • "Confused" Inspector General Takes Competency Test by Glenn Beck - Obama dishonors... ...an honorable man. Obama accuses Gerald Walpin of senility, and being disorientated and off his rocker at a recent meeting. Obama fired and is now trying to discredit and disgrace a man who wanted nothing more than to serve his country in the last years of his life, and now this is his thanks. Obama should feel ashamed of himself; he's a disgrace to the office of the President. I have not been this upset in a long time. It's just like Glenn Beck says; just think if this was your Dad or Granddad. How would you feel if his name and honor was defiled for political reasons? Obama and his corrupt Administration will fall of their own weight, just you wait and see. There is just no way that the news media will not eventually take notice of this kind of corruption. Or is there? I might be wrong. What a pathetic man this Obama is turning out to be. How can he do something like this to a public servant who is only doing the job that he was hired to do. I have given Obama his chance, and he has failed. I feel like I'm in the old Soviet Union where anything goes to destroy the integrity and reputation of those who seek the truth. • BUILDING LITERACY COMPETENCIES IN EARLY CHILDHOOD ( DAVIDSON FILMS ) We have always wanted all children to read and write fluently. But with our growing dependence on computer based communication and the return of public interest in early schooling, much attention is being paid to the attainment of literacy. Fortunately, some of this interest has resulted in careful research into what skills, understandings and attitudes are necessary prerequisites for success in the primary grades. Filmed in several lively preschool and kindergarten classrooms, this film reviews the underlying cognitive, social and physical requirements for all formal education and then presents the literacy specific understandings and skills that are being widely cited, but not always adequately described. With instructive visuals from exemplary classrooms, serious scholarship and clever graphics are combined to introduce students to the current vocabulary and concepts of the development of literacy. Rejecting the "either/or" approach of the reading wars, this video presents an integrated vision of how the precursors of literacy grow from appropriate experiences provided by thoughtful adults to the children in their care. The film divides the literacy specific understandings and skills into two interdependent sets of competencies. The understandings and motivations that make reading an important activity are called the Communicative Aspects of Literacy. These include: Purpose of Reading, Concepts of Print and Comprehension of Text. These continue to grow throughout a ...
  • How Cultural Competency and Geoleadership Merge Google Tech Talks December 12, 2008 ABSTRACT This presentation will highlight the publication of the new book, Global Business Leadership (Elsevier, 2009) by examining the dynamic role of leadership from an intercultural perspective. Learning about how other cultures both define and exert leadership is crucial in gaining and maintaining global market share. Intercultural knowledge in this sense denotes how other cultures approach concepts such as ambiguity and change the means to the unspoken side of business. Such intangible concepts can only be grasped through stepping back and examining the cultural underpinnings of another's background and development. This new book concentrates on the Geoleadership Model which highlights the seven variables necessary for US business leaders to succeed in global operations. The seven Cs of geoleadership include culture, care, communication, consciousness, contrasts, context, and change. A panel of intercultural experts participated in the first ever Web-based Delphi study convened to determine these business leadership competencies from an intercultural perspective. Speaker: Eileen Wibbeke Dr. ES Wibbeke spent twenty years in management for Fortune 500 firms such as Xerox, Novell, and Siebel Systems, mainly in Silicon Valley. Dr. Wibbeke teaches global leadership courses for several leading schools, including the University of Liverpool.
  • Mintra - Trainingportal - elearning - Competence Management Mintra competence management: What skills are business-critical for your company? Who has those competencies, and who needs training? Today's business world is characterised by companies that are increasingly specialised in their activities. At the same time, competition for manpower with the requisite competence is tougher.
