  • Luna, a wild orca boy, tries to communicate with humans by imitating their boat's motor! Want to know more about Luna? Visit !!! ========================= Luna was a little wild orca-boy who lost his family and, after that, started to look for contact with people which, in my opinion, is the best example of orca's demand for social intercourse. Just like people. It's a very important demand for people. And it seems the same important for orcas. Luna left alone, he was boring, and started to contact with people. It's interesting how they understand that people (and maybe some other animals, like dogs) are the same intelligent beings. Amazing is that even little orca-kids understand and distinguish people from other beings. Maybe did Luna learned something from his family, adult orcas? Maybe do they have a sort of lessons like in a school where adult orcas teach the kids not only rules of survival and hunting, but some basic knowledge about the world in general? For example, maybe they teach their kids that people are intelligent beings like orca and it's not good to attack people and consider them as prey. Maybe, it explains that there are no any records of attacking people by orcas in the wild. Lucky for us :)) ================================ WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT LUNA? Visit

  • How to Communicate at Burning Man bit.ly Burning Man is one of the most popular gatherings of artists, free thinkers, thrill seekers, and just about anyone else looking to have a good time. This event takes place in the middle of the Black Rock desert to celebrate community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. During Burning Man, an otherwise empty area of the desert becomes Black Rock City, a giant collection of camp sites that are full of people having fun around the clock. Unfortunately, this gathering doesn't come with excellent mobile service, which can really make communicating and coordinating activities with a group difficult. Burning Man is a fairly large gathering, and finding someone amid the various camp sites can be difficult, especially at night. Thankfully, a solution to this problem will be available at Burning Man this year. By combining OpenBTS with Voxeo's Tropo (both open source), a localized communications hub can be established that enables attendees with GSM-enabled phones to communicate with one-another at Burning Man. In a very real way, this project will create a completely independent (and functioning) mobile phone service for Burning Man completely independent of existing telecommunication providers' networks. If you're attending Burning Man, and you'd like to help test this technology yourself, you can find them at the Papa Legba camp. For more information, please visit: bit.ly
