  • Problems Motivate Change - The Zeitgeist Movement ZDay2010 is March 13. Events Worldwide. www.ZDay2010.org Problems Motivate Change The term Zeitgeist is defined as the intellectual, moral, cultural climate of an era. The term movement simply implies motion or change. Therefore the Zeitgeist Movement is thus an organization that urges change in the dominate intellectual, moral and cultural climate of the time. Specifically to values and practices which would better serve the well being of the whole of humanity, regardless of race, religion or creed or any other form of contrived social status. We're not here to tell people what to think or believe, we're here to spread statistical information and socially positive value identifications. In hope of bringing people to an awareness of the incredibility positive possibilities the future can hold. Once these understandings are realized I think most people will never be able to look at the world in the same way again. And the problems we find as common place today will become simply unacceptable, motivating change.
  • Chinese Torture Atrocities: Beheadings Death by a 1000 Cuts. Note: Mao's Wife Demands the president of China be tortured to "death by 1000 cuts." Chinese Torture & Atrocities: Beheadings & Death by a 1000 Cuts. Death by a 1000 cuts was utilized in China as punishment for over 1000 years until outlawed in 1905. Beheadings were commonplace for 4000 years. The pictures of "death from a thousand cuts" are all from China, during the early 1900s. The beheadings are also from China, during this same time period. There is one photograph of a beheading at the very end of the film whose origins or perpetrators are disputed; some claim he is Japanese--though he is wearing a Chinese police officers cap which was still in fashion during the 1980s in Beijing, China. This video is taken from a much longer film, by Dr. Joseph, that covers the history of China during the 1900s and ends with the Tiananmen Massacre. Although death by 1000 cuts was outlawed, the communists in China under Mao committed horrible atrocities and torture. Mao's wife recommended "death by a 1000" for the president of Communist China and the co-chairman of the Communist party. It is for this reason that we included the footage from the cultural revolution--she recommended death by a thousand cuts and it fit into the topic of the film. Some complain we are being unfair to the communists by including this; this criticism is ridiculous. In today's China, torture is commonplace, and a form of death by a 1000 cuts is practiced, ie in China's organ donation industry, where hearts, lungs, livers, eyes, are cut from the living bodies of unwilling ...

  • Martin Heidegger On Johann Hebel - 'Friend Of The House' In a 1957 essay, "Hebel - Friend of the House," ("Hebel der Hausfreund") Heidegger underscores his great concern with the impoverishment of poetic language via commonplace 'calculative, instrumental' use. He discusses the importance of German poet/writer Johann Peter Hebel (1760-1826) who, he feels, embodied an authentic poetic relationship with language as personified in fellow-poet Friedrich Hölderlin's dictum "poetically... (we) dwell upon the earth." In the clip Heidegger says: "Today the notion of language as an instrument of information is driven to extremes. ... The relation of man to language is in the midst of a transformation the consequences of which we have not yet weighed. Nor can the course of this transformation be directly halted. Moreover, it proceeds in the most profound silence. It must certainly be granted that in everyday living language appears as a means of communication, and it is as such a means that is employed in the commonplace relationships of life. There are, however, relationships other than the commonplace. Goethe calls these other relationships the "deeper" ones, and says of language: 'In ordinary life, we make do with impoverished language because we only signify superficial relationships. As soon as the talk is of deeper relations, another language at once enters in - the poetic.' "

  • In search of Anthony Burgess: Chiswick (2/6) 24 Glebe Street. A commonplace house on an undistinguished street in a prosaic London suburb. It was not exactly the Villa Mauresque. "Fame comes slowly," Burgess once remarked. Chiswick is a suburban neighbourhood of London, England. Burgess and his first wife Lynne owned and occupied the small house on this road in 1964-68. The Anthony Burgess house appears from 3:07mins on this video. For further views, go to "In search of Anthony Burgess and his muse: a ghostly suburban perambulation (2/3)" at 3:25mins. In England Now, by Anthony Burgess In England now the wind blows high And clouds brush rudely at the sky; The blood runs thinly through my frame, I half-caress the hearthstone's flame, Oppressed by autumn's desolate cry. Then homesick for the south am I, For where the lucky swallows fly, But each warm land is just a name In England now. The luckless workers I espy With chins dipped low and collars high, Walk into winter, do not blame The shifting globe. A gust of shame Represses my unmanly sigh In England now. - Ilustration by Burgess of the rondel verse form, in "English Literature: A Survey for Students" (1958) For a photo of Anthony Burgess walking down this street led by his dog and accompanied by his second wife Liana, presumably taken in 1968, go to page 90 of this edition of 'Life' magazine: .au

  • Masters of Photography Diane Arbus Part 1 In 1967, when the Museum of Modern Art in New York City presented New Documents -- a major exhibition of the personal visions of several photographers -- the surprise of the show was the work of Diane Arbus. On her own, against the advice of many friends, she had pursued her documentation of people on the fringes of society, and the astonishing in the commonplace. Suddenly she was famous, with students and imitators. By 1972 her work was everywhere, and was featured at the Venice Biennale, where it became, as New York Times critic Hilton Kramer said, the overwhelming sensation of the American Pavilion. But by then Diane Arbus was dead, by her own hand. "Nothing about her life, her photographs or her death was accidental or ordinary," wrote Richard Avedon. "They were mysterious and decisive and unimaginable except to her. Which is the way it is with genius." This half-hour documentary was made that same year. It explores her work and ideas, often in her own words as spoken by a close friend. It includes reflections by some of the people who knew her best; daughter Doon, teacher Lisette Model, colleague Marvin Israel, and John Szarkowski, at that time the director of the photography department at the Museum of Modern Art.

  • Brave New World(1980)-Full Length Movie This 3-hour TV adaptation of the 1932 Aldous Huxley novel is set 600 years in the future. In this "well- ordered" society, the citizens are required to take mind-controlling drugs, *** without love is compulsory, and test-tube babies are commonplace because of a ban on pregnancy. Keir Dullea heads the cast as Thomas Grahmbell, "director of hatcheries". Not everybody is satisfied with society's lack of humanity and feeling; the loudest dissidents are free-thinking poet Heimholtz Watson (Dick Anthony Williams) and brilliant oddball Bernard Marx (Bud Cort). An injection of new "old" ideas are brought in by "primitive" John Savage (Kristoffer Tabori), who lives on an Indian reservation which still honors 20th century values. Meanwhile, Linda Lysenko (Julie Cobb) becomes a natural mother--and in so doing becomes a criminal. In keeping with the style of the original book, the script's newly-minted characters are given names of pop-culture icons (Disney, Maoina, Stalina, and so on). Brave New World was first telecast March 7, 1980. Check out my blogs: Mystical Poetry and Politics: bc.vc Mystical Musings and Politics: bc.vc Live Mystic Music: bc.vc

(OAD: 1992) Documentary overview: The Machine That Changed the World is the longest, most comprehensive documentary about the history of computing ever produced, but since its release in 1992, it's become virtually extinct. Out of print and never released online, the only remaining copies are VHS tapes floating around school libraries or in the homes of fans who dubbed the original shows when they aired. Video Description: The development of the personal computer and user interfaces, from Doug Engelbart and Xerox PARC to the Apple and IBM PCs. Notes: Like the books of the Middle Ages, early computers were large, extremely expensive, and maintained by a select few. It seemed unlikely they'd be commonplace, partly because they were so difficult to use. Developing software was extremely tedious, the interface limited to writing instructions on punched cards. Ivan Sutherland's revolutionary Sketchpad was the first graphical user interface, pioneering the fields of interactive computing, computer-aided drawing, and object-oriented programming. Douglas Engelbart's NLS, demonstrated in the Mother of All Demos from 1968, demonstrated for the first time several concepts that would become commonplace: the mouse, CRT display, windowing systems, hypertext, videoconferencing, collaborative editing, screen sharing, word processing, and a search engine ordering by relevance. Leaving waves of lies behind, no time to contemplate Sailing ships of solitude, I never let the sadness dissipate I leave behind an angry anchor Its never too late I guess its in a time like this The winds would blow the other way Sailing through a sea of doubt, I have the time to contemplate A world so harsh to face and lies so commonplace Were insecure cause we want more What about the time before? Was it ignorance? We said never again Im a criminal I turn away when I know whats going on My children will ask me, How did you ignore If you really dont see, then open up your eyes Cause its glaring out in front of me Ill go by myself I guess its in the times like these, when the winds are fake When I wish wed sail together, take these empty seas away In a world so harsh to face and lies so commonplace Were insecure cause we want more What about the time before? Was it ignorance? We said never again Was it ignorance or innocence? Arent they really the same?
  • [Megurine Luka] Akahitoha (English Subs) Originally From: www.nicovideo.jp Translated and subbed by me. Lyrics: Fluttering, whirling, falling. Swayed by the wind, fluttering, whirling, falling. A single red leaf passes over your shoulder. If we just keep close to each other, we will understand, Sadness will only disappear into the sky. The moonlight illuminates The faraway sound of flutes, And the imperial drums. Commonplace happiness, when remembered, Is such a wonderful thing. Let's speak sometimes, About the joy of meeting. The faint love, Was there before I knew it. Swayed by the wind, fluttering, whirling, falling. A single red leaf passes over your shoulder. If we just keep close to each other, we will understand, Sadness will only disappear into the sky. Gently dawning upon, The seasons faded, shadows of firelight invited. I kept wandering, lost and stumbling, It's really not a bad idea to progress. Now, let this floating wish of mine reach you. I keep repeating the dying prayer. There are memories that can't be forgotten. Cherry blossoms passing over your shoulder. They bury this world, strongly but fleetingly. I will eternally dedicate this love to you. Be swayed by the wind, let it flutter, whirl, and fall. Tonight will be dyed in red. I just want to be close to you, to be held by you. Until the sadness disappears into the sky.

  • Stranger in paradise - Sarah Brightman (Orchestral Instrumental) Take my hand I'm a stranger in paradise All lost in a wonderland A stranger in paradise If I stand starry-eyed That's the danger in paradise For mortals who stand beside an angel like you I saw your face ascending Out of the common place and into the rare Now somewhere out in space I hang suspended Until I'm certain that there's a chance that you care Won't you answer this fervent prayer Of a stranger in paradise Don't send me in dark despair From all that I hunger for But open your angel's arms To this stranger in paradise And tell him that he need be A stranger no more Aah-aah-aah Take my hand I'm a stranger in paradise All lost in a wonderland A stranger in paradise If I stand starry-eyed That's the danger in paradise For mortals who stand beside an angel like you I saw your face as I ascended Out of the common place and into the rare Now somewhere out in space I hang suspended Until I'm certain that there's a chance that you care Won't you answer this fervent prayer Of a stranger in paradise Don't send me in dark despair From all that I hunger for But open your angel's arms To this stranger in paradise And tell him that he need be A stranger no more A stranger no more

  • Is That Jazz? Gil Scott Heron Musician, poet, activist Gil Scott Heron! Jazz is not an art form to be limited or "boxed in" and neither should human creativity. All humans should be treated with dignity and granted the same opportunities on equal ground. Nurture and respect nature, Earth and each other. • MORE THAN LOVE (original) One of my originals I co-wrote with Rick Donald (most recently seen in the "Libra Invisibles" commercials airing in AU), "More Than Love" in a benefit concert at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney, Australia. More Than Love Music: Rick Donald Music & Lyrics: Zak Resnick We start. Wish I could bring back the day you came. You took my heart. And in your angel wings you flied it away, back to you. In this life theres not a feeling more than love, But sometimes the words dont mean enough. I love you and I mean it. Guess I dont know what else to say. Though its common place, the frequent case, And it doesnt match your pretty face, Itll have to do until the world finds something new. Your eyes, Reaching out through the night and into mine. Your lips, Still a little taste of your lips left on mine. Every piece of you a part of me, Still the only words that I can see are I love you and I mean it. Guess I dont know what else to say. Though its common place, the frequent case, And it doesn't match your pretty face, Itll have to do, until the world finds something Im not gonna lie to you, Never been able to express myself, But when you look at me, Everything Ive wanted to say Comes pourin out my mouth. Im not gonna lie to you, Theres not a day that passes by I dont keep lovin you, I raise my hands up to the sky and cry I love you and I mean it. Guess I dont know what else to say. Though its common place, the frequent case, Not worthy of your pretty face, Itll have to ...

  • Masters of Photography Diane Arbus Part 2 In 1967, when the Museum of Modern Art in New York City presented New Documents -- a major exhibition of the personal visions of several photographers -- the surprise of the show was the work of Diane Arbus.

  • Symphony of Science - 'Our Place in the Cosmos' (ft. Sagan, Dawkins, Kaku, Jastrow) MP3: "Our Place in the Cosmos", the third video from the Symphony of Science, was crafted using samples from Carl Sagan's Cosmos, Richard Dawkins' Genius of Charles Darwin series, Dawkins' TED Talk, Stephen Hawking's Universe series, Michio Kaku's interview on Physics and aliens, plus added visuals from Baraka, Koyaanisqatsi, History Channel's Universe series, and IMAX Cosmic Voyage. The themes present in this song are intended to explore our understanding of our origins within the universe, and to challenge the commonplace notion that humans have a superior or privleged position, both on our home planet and in the universe itself. RIP Dr. Sagan and Dr. Jastrow! For more science remixes, check out http As always, view in HQ mode for better sound and visuals. Enjoy! John john@ Lyrics: [Narrator] With every century Our eyes on the universe have been opened anew We are witness To the very brink of time and space [Robert Jastrow] We must ask ourselves We who are so proud of our accomplishments What is our place in the cosmic perspective of life? [Carl Sagan] The exploration of the cosmos Is a voyage of self discovery As long as there have been humans We have searched for our place in the cosmos [Richard Dawkins] Are there things about the universe That will be forever beyond our grasp? Are there things about the universe that are Ungraspable? [Sagan] One of the great revelations of space exploration Is the image of the earth, finite ...

  • Avenged Sevenfold - The Fight (w/LYRICS) RIP The Rev Avenged Sevenfold - The Fight from Diamonds In The Rough Sorry if the lyrics are too fast or slow.. If there's any mistakes, please kindly inform me :) I've also put the lyrics below, just in case.. Lyrics: The problem with society's been how do we teach And if they'll believe. We'll fight this battle for years to come 'til we all accept that we can stand on our own. Grandfather used his hands, he worked them to the bone. Provide his family with a happy home, alone. Don't take your aggression out on me. My own man is all I'm meant to be. This common place is so lazy, old, and tired All your ideas are so ***ing uninspired. Takes more than one idea More than one person to fight the fight How many times have you taught and not conspired? Don't wanna be, they never say But don't call us the liars We've walked these alleys a thousand times And scattered around a thousand lies. They are trying to hold you down Your life may be hard But keep your feet on the ground. Why don't I have the finer things that others have? The chance is there if you want it all that bad. So bad. Don't take your aggression out on me. My own man is all I'm meant to be. This common place is so lazy, old, and tired All your ideas are so ***ing uninspired. Takes more than one idea More than one person to fight the fight How many times have you taught and not conspired? Don't try and get me confused. Cause I do understand. And sometimes people need help. That they may need a hand When this ...
