Hosokawa Alpine Agitated Ball Mill - Principle of Operation Hosokawa Alpine Agitated Ball Mill AHM The AHM is an agitated ball mill designed for the continuous or batchwise wet ultrafine grinding of particles in solution. The grinding chamber of the mill is filled usually with ceramic grinding beads which are set into motion by a rotating agitator. The feed product is suspended in a fluid and is conveyed through the grinding chamber by means of a pump. Comminution is a result of the friction caused when the feed particles impact against the agitated grinding beads. In continuous operation, the suspension exits the mill after passing through the grinding zone, whereby a screening element serves to retain the grinding beads in the mill. The fineness is set by adjusting the rotor speed, the filling ratio of grinding beads in the mill and the suspension flow rate, as well as by selection of the grinding bead size.

LM1 PULVERISING MILL Vibratory motor driven mills for rapidly preparing up to 1.8kg of ore or mineral for ***ysis The LM1 is a reliable and robust adaptation of the traditional vibratory ring mill that incorporate an integral 3 phase vibratory duty electric motor drive. Hosokawa Alpine Classifier Mill - Principle of Operation Alpine Zirkoplex (r) Classifier Mill ZPS The ZPS is a mechanical impact mill with integrated classifier designed for dry fine grinding of soft to medium-hard materials with a steep particle size distribution. Comminution is performed by a high-speed rotating disc with grinding elements. The feed material is charged to the grinding chamber and is accelerated by means of the grinding rotor. Comminution is the result of the particles impacting against the grinding elements of the rotor and against the grinding track. The grinding air flows through the grinding gap between the rotor and grinding track from below, passes through a deflector vane ring and then flows through the classifying wheel located in the mill head. The classifying effect of the classifying wheel means that fine particles are able to exit the mill entrained in the air and are collected in a filter. Coarse particles fall back onto the rotor and are comminuted further until the desired fineness is reached. The fineness is set by adjusting the speeds of the grinding rotor and the classifying wheel as well as the air flow rate.

Hosokawa Alpine Fluidised Bed Opposed Jet Mill - Principle of Operation Hosokawa Alpine Fluidised Bed Opposed Jet Mill AFG The AFG is a fluidised bed opposed jet mill with integrated classifier designed for the low-contamination dry ultrafine grinding of soft to hard materials. The grinding energy in the form of highly accelerated air jets is introduced to the mill via several nozzles. The feed material is charged into the grinding chamber and is fluidised by the air jets. The material particles entering the jets are accelerated and collide with each other in the focal point where the jets of air intersect, and are comminuted by the effects of interparticle collision and by shear flows at the edges of the air jets. The grinding air then flows through a classifying wheel arranged on top of the mill. The fine particles exit the mill entrained in the air through the classifying wheel and are collected in a filter. Coarser particles fall back into the fluidised bed and are comminuted until such time as they have reached the desired fineness. The fineness can be set by adjusting the air flow rate, the grinding air pressure and the classifying wheel speed.

Hosokawa Alpine Spiral Jet Mill - Principle of Operation Hosokawa Alpine Aeroplex (r) Spiral Jet Mill AS The AS is a spiral jet mill designed for dry grinding soft to medium-hard materials. A number of air nozzles generate an air vortex that rotates at high speed. The feed material is fed to the discoid grinding chamber via an injector assembly. Comminution is the result of interparticle collision caused by the different velocity gradients in the air flow. The grinding air is extracted by means of a dip pipe located in the centre of the grinding chamber. Because of the free vortex, a classifying effect is generated, meaning that only fine particles can exit the mill through the dip pipe and be collected in a filter. Coarser particles remain in the grinding chamber until such time as they have reached the desired fineness. The mill settings can be adjusted by varying the grinding air flow rate, grinding air pressure and propellant air.

Hosokawa Alpine Pin Mill - Principle of Operation Hosokawa Alpine Contraplex (r) Wide-Chamber Pin Mill CW The CW is a dual-rotor contra-rotating impact mill designed for dry grinding and coating soft to medium-hard materials. The feed material is charged to the centre of two counter-rotating pin discs and is comminuted by impact against the grinding pins. The high shear velocity of the counter-rotating discs permits a particularly intensive stressing of the particles. After passing through the grinding zone, the product enters the mill housing and is discharged from the mill by gravity. The rotation generates an air flow from which the end product is extracted in a filter. The fineness is set by adjusting the speed of the two rotors and the feed rate.

As the abductory force continues to push the talus laterally the talus is driven into the tibio-fibular syndesmotic joint creating injury to BOTH the ANTERIOR & POSTERIOR-inferior TIBIO-FIBULAR ligaments creating a stage 2 injury. (Note: With the interosseus ligament still intact one cannot call this a true diastasis). In STAGE 3: The ABductory force has continued into the fibula creating a fracture at or above the ankle joint that is short and OBLIQUE on the AP view but appears transverse on a lateral x-ray. Since the talus is driven in an inferomedial to superiorlateral direction a LATERAL SPIKE of cortex from the fibula may be visualized on an AP x-ray. Lateral comminution is quite common. One must remember to take a Lateral x-ray of the ankle joint to adequately differentiate this fracture from the posterior spike of the fibula seen with supination external rotation injuries. This is important for fixation purposes. (Take home points) The SHORT OBLIQUE fracture of the lateral malleolus seen in stage 3 will appear oblique on an AP x-ray, but transverse on a Lateral x-ray. Hosokawa Alpine Fine Impact Mill - Principle of Operation Hosokawa Alpine Ultraplex (r) - Fine Impact Mill UPZ The UPZ is mechanical impact mill designed for dry grinding soft to medium-hard materials. The feed material is charged to the centre of the rotor equipped with grinding elements and is comminuted by impact against the rotor and stator elements. After passing through the grinding zone, the product enters the mill housing and is then discharged from the mill by gravity. The rotation generates an air flow from which the end product is extracted in a filter. Different grinding elements can be employed, eg a pin disc or a plate beater unit with profiled grinding track or a sieve grate. The fineness is set by adjusting the rotor speed and the feed rate.
