Fly My Falcon) The Kanklės (pronounced [ˈkʌŋkles]) is a Lithuanian plucked string musical instrument (chordophone), related to the zither. It is roughly in the shape of a trapezium (British) or trapezoid (American). The instrument is fitted with several wire or gut strings under tension which produce tones when plucked. It is usually rested on the player's lap and played with the fingers or a pick made of bone or quill. The instrument is similar in construction and origin to the Latvian kokle, Russian gusli, Estonian kannel and Finnish kantele. Within Lithuania, there are three basic regional types of kanklės, although there are variations within each type and some overlap of areas. Each type has its own playing technique.

Based on the stone carvings found in Shoosh(Susa) and Choga Zanbil, Dotar almost dates to four thousand years ago at least. Dotar had been the major instrument at Sasani's era. Also the "Barbad" had been the famous prayer and singer in the Sasani's palace. The first hand scripts found about it was written in 950 by AlPharabius (Farabi), the great Persian philosopher and musician who is called Second Master. He ***yzed every thing about DoTar in his book "AI-Musiqi Al-Kabir", (great music).

Kazakh National Instrument- Kobyz The Kobyz (Kazakh: қобыз) or kyl-kobyz is an ancient Kazakh string instrument (chordophone) of the type known as a bowed lyre. It has two strings made of horsehair. The resonating cavity is usually covered with goat leather. Traditionally kobyzes were sacred instruments, owned by shamans and bakses (traditional spiritual medics). In the 1930s, when the first folk instrument orchestras were established in the Soviet republic of Kazakhstan, a new kind of kobyz came into existence. It now had four metallic strings and thus became closer to a violin. Such a modernized kobyz can be used to play both Kazakh music and the most complicated works of violin literature. One of the few western musicians to use the kobyz is Trefor Goronwy. Performed by Janar Abenova.

Nyckelharpa at Jerusalem's Fair A nyckelharpa (literally "key harp", plural nyckelharpor or sometimes keyed fiddle) is a traditional Swedish musical instrument. It is a string instrument or chordophone. Its keys are attached to tangents which, when a key is depressed, serve as frets to change the pitch of the string. The nyckelharpa is similar in appearance to a fiddle or the bowed Byzantine lira. Live SoundScaping Project, ambient session in Photohub_Manometr (Medvedev, Balashov, Emelyanov).mp4 This is a small part of 3 hour improvisational performance by "Live Soundscaping" project that took place in Photohub_Manometr, Moscow on August 18th, 2012. Lineup: Mikhail Medvedev -- guitar, Yuri Balashov -- chordophone, Sergey Emelyanov -- flutes. The performance was backed up by "Major Studio" recording label.

"Farsh Instrument" has been created by Mr. Seifollah Shokri (Iranian instrument builder and music researcher)."Farsh" has unique abilities. It is the first instrument that can support more than 300 notes and 10 people can play it together at the same time. It is the first instrument that can be played in different ways: chordophone, percussion, by archet and fingers. The shape of Farsh is inspirited from the carpet frame. The strings are installed in both sides of the instrument and it can be played in vertical and horizontal situations. The film of Farsh which we have uploaded here shows the small sample of this new instrument.

MAGISOUND: USING YOUR PHONE AS A VIRTUAL INSTRUMENT In this project, we have investigated the application of our magnetic interaction framework to music playing. Here we have implemented an application on an iPhone that enables the user to play an instrument of his choice (eg, chordophones, percussions or guitar) by imitating a music playing gestures around the phone. Again the interaction between the user and the instrument (phone) is attained trough tracking the movement of the magnet in the player's hand by the phone via its magnetic sensor. This can allow for a natural, comfortable and flexible interaction for such an application that requires a high degree of interaction as well as a fast feedback on user's actions.
