Therefore, we rejoice in the individuality of each child and base our guidance on a child's personal needs and stage of development, rather than having one set standard of expectations for all children. Our program uses the High Scope Philosophy along with a Creative Curriculum. • Military Family Child Care If you're a military spouse, you can become a Family Child Care Provider. This means making your home a daycare and getting paid for providing care to other children of military members. Things I forgot to mention: When you become a childcare provider, you can only have 6 daycare children at one time. Two of those children can be infants under the age of two. If any of your own children are under the age of 8, they will count towards your 6 daycare children limit. The USDA reimbursement is only a partial refund which is about $1.80 for lunch, $0.60 cents for snacks and I think it's higher for supper but I don't remember the exact amount. Also, when buying food or furniture for your daycare, remember to pay it separately from what you buy for personal use for tax purposes. Anything you buy for your daycare children is tax deductible, including the purchase of birthday party items. The Family Child Care (FCC) class is free. The $730 I made from Subsidy is just the amount that the military covered for parents who qualified for a reduced fee under the Military's income standard. I also made money from parents who paid their portion of the fee, parents who did not meet the income standard, back-up care for other FCC providers, and temporary care for drop-ins and hourly care. For those of you wondering how much I made on a month to month basis, I racked in roughly $1500 to $3000 a month when you factor in that although I was required to be open 10 hours a day, I would sometimes ...

  • Benjamin Spock on Baby and Child Care October 1982 Watch the full interview: Benjamin McLane Spock (May 2, 1903 - March 15, 1998) was an American pediatrician whose book Baby and Child Care, published in 1946, is one of the biggest best-sellers of all time. Its revolutionary message to mothers was that "you know more than you think you do." Spock was the first pediatrician to study psycho***ysis to try to understand children's needs and family dynamics. His ideas about childcare influenced several generations of parents to be more flexible and affectionate with their children, and to treat them as individuals, whereas the previous conventional wisdom had been that child rearing should focus on building discipline, and that, eg, babies should not be "spoiled" by picking them up when they cried. In addition to his pediatric work, Spock also won an Olympic gold medal in rowing in 1924 while attending Yale university. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Spock was expected by his parents to help with the care of his five younger siblings. Spock's father, a Yale graduate and member of Wolf's Head Society, was a lawyer for a railroad company. Spock received his undergraduate education from Yale University, where he became a member of Scroll and Key and the Zeta Psi fraternity, and was a rower. As member of the American eight crew, he won a gold medal at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, rowing an all-Yale eight, along with James Stillman Rockefeller, also a member of Scroll ...

  • Family Child Care -Montessori Influenced Meal time changes over 6-9 months. I am finishing up my first year as a child care provider. I have never had so much fun except when my own children were this young! Just watch and enjoy. I don't stress out on things. I just try to simplify and create as much order as possible for the little ones. However, structure never takes place of Love and Logic. As I read, studied and observed the children they would show me when they were ready for more tasks. I would notice we needed new arrangements and made them. When the video starts out I did not have table and chairs. I mainly worked with the toddler, but soon the infants were soaking up everything I was teaching and modeling so the infants soon came on board with the toddler. *It is really great to have an older child be an example for the younger ones. -At first the focus was to stay seated at the table while eating as soon as they could sit. Also holding the utensil. If they got up during eating, I said, "Oh your done." And took the food out of the hands and washed them and let them go on their way. They didn't eat with utensils right away, but while holding them they formed muscle control. I figured they will use them when ready. I modeled everything daily so they knew what to do when ready. -Then everything has a place at the table (Tablecloth with placements drawn on it) -Then a glass was introduced with short sips of water at a time, increasing as ready. -Now we are getting into setting and serving the table after it ...
