Guba Doce Pares at the SENI Expo 2010 London Excel Guba Doce Pares Eskrima-Kali-Arnis (Doce Pares Europe) took part in the two day SENI Expo 2010 (one of the worlds largest Martial Arts shows) at the Olympic venue, The London Excel. Doce Pares was showcased through centre stage displays; workshops and at the London International Open Eskrima Championships which was attended by many FMA styles and systems and two Grandmasters, (Danny Guba of Doce Pares and John Harvey of Kapatiran) both of whom charitably gave their own time and energy to the tournament and are owed much respect. IL-2 Sturmovik 1946: Wronski Feint, or "Why I Don't Usually Bother With Offline Combat" This is less about my flying and more about the AI's... flying, I guess you could charitably call it that. The only reason why this works is because of the Artificial Stupidity flying the computer-controlled planes. They are very, very confused by certain terrain features. Apparently, they trust their radar altimeter instead of their eyes (they probably only have "eyes" for aiming their guns rather than detecting terrain formations) and the very fast terrain height change just comes as a total surprise to them. On this quick mission I have eight RAF Spitfires, four USAAF P-51B's and four USAAF P-47 Thunderbolts (Razorback variants), flying against me in my Luftwaffe FW-190 A-6. All aircraft are from year 1943. The AI was set to Average for the this particular run, but the skill setting really only mostly changes their gunnery accuracy - their flying is just as bad. The video starts as I close in on the head-on approach, targeting the P-51's first since they're the fastest planes and can catch my FW-190. I missed the head-on, but managed to get one of them before I had to extend (pilot talk for running like hell) and utilize the terrain (and the AI's inept flying skills) to my advantage. I got exactly one kill in this mission - the P-51 that got dewinged by my horrible gunnery. Four*** of the AI planes crashed on the cliff and one flew past it, but the exploding planes below it caused catastrophic damage to airframe and it crashed on the hills behind the cliff. What's ...

The Pursuit of Happiness An excerpt from a video/performance piece. These piñatas was shot with shotguns. Shown are five of seven blown up at the Horst & McCann gun range in Bel Air, MD. Other piñatas were shot with pistols, revolvers, uzis, AK-47s, Thompson machine guns, and more. The Mexican piñata originally had a religious significance; traditionally they were seven-pointed stars, each representing one of the seven deadly sins. After being blindfolded to resist temptation, the batsman takes his stick, which represents faith and virtue, and strikes down the devil and the sins, releasing the treats as a sort of heavenly reward, which would be charitably shared among those in attendance. American culture has eaten the symbol of the piñata and turned it into what we need - a great game for hyperactive children, who swing wiffle ball bats wildly (often resulting in hilarious injuries) at an effigy of Spongebob Squarepants and then, when triumphant over the cardboard party favor, form small riots to grab as much candy as possible, no matter the human cost. In this performance, I hoped to connect both our childhood dreams and the American Dream. In retrospect, I've realized that those two concepts aren't that far apart after all.
