How to Solve a 6x6x6 V-Cube 6 - Part 2 - Finishing Centers This video explains how to position and orient the remaining 4 centers. The first 2 centers I place are the Red and Blue centers, which must be oriented properly. Red/Black/Blue must have a clockwise orientation. Link to PART 3: Next I go on to place the last 2 centers. If you decide to SKIP TO THIS PART, you can fast forward to around 5:15. I explain how to: 1) Try to keep on forming 1x4 blocks and join them together 2) If you cannot create any more 1x4 blocks, you can "kick out" pieces (1x4 blocks) in order to get as many center pieces onto their proper side. 3) Use the center switching algorithm. Because the center pieces can be on different layers, I find that memorizing the algorithm as a sentence is easier. Sentence: Down Over Down Over Up Over Up Over We must position the IDENTICAL pieces we want to switch in the same RELATIVE POSITION. I generally prefer to place them in the upper left of the 4x4 center.

The last 2 centers are the trickiest to place, and I have included two main situations which occur when placing them. You will start to notice that the remaining centers will begin to pretty much solve themselves as you organize more and more pieces together. The last two centers are the hardest to work with, not because of how they are difficult patterns themselves, but because you have no other open centers where you can group things easily. Even so, there are ways to organize the pieces to make them a little easier to figure out. This walnut low entertainment center was built using three primary tools: a circular saw, a router, and a drill. But that doesnt mean I skimped on quality and design. The unit has sliding doors, good ventilation, a little shelf in the back for a surge protector, and all of the trim is beveled at an angle for a more interesting visual effect (even the trim on the shelves features this bevel). Facebook's new energy efficient data center Cloud technologies power some of Internet's most well-known sites—Picasa, Gmail, Facebook and Zynga, just to name a few—and cloud companies are striving to make the computer processing behind these sites as energy efficient as possible. With that in mind, Facebook, Dell, HP, Rackspace, Skype, Zynga and others have teamed together to form the Open Compute Project to share best practices for making more energy efficient and economical data centers. To kick-start the project, Facebook unveiled its innovative new data center and contributed the specifications and designs to Open Compute. "Cloud companies are working hard to become more and more energy efficient...[and] this is a big step forward today in having computing be more and more green," explains Graham Weston, Chairman of Rackspace. A small team of Facebook engineers has been working on the project for two years. They custom designed the software, servers and data center from the ground up. One of the most significant features of the facility was that Facebook eliminated the centralized UPS system found in most data centers. "In a typical data center, you're taking utility voltage, you're transforming it, you're bringing it into the data center and you're distributing it to your servers," explains Tom Furlong, Director of Site Operations at Facebook.
