  • 10 Gallon Freshwater Betta Tank This is my 10 gallon freshwater community tank. It's really a Betta tank with a suspected pair of Peppered Corydoras Catfish. Notice throughout the video I say "Betta" not "Beta". Betta is the correct way to pronounce it. It's one of my pet peeves. I messed up at the end because my battery was running low. Anyways, the tank and heater are older than I am, and I'm 16. Imagine that. As such, I do not know much about the heater, but the tank is from All-Glass. This tank is filtered by a Penguin 100 Bio-Wheel made by Marineland. I bought it at Petsmart for a little over 20 dollars. It's silent and effective. The lighting is somewhat subdued, so I might go out and buy a new one. Any suggestions on growing the Cabomba are appreciated a ton. From what I've heard and read, my lighting is fine. Those sources say that 1.5 watts per gallon is good enough for Cabomba, I have a 15 watt fluorescent strip light. Underneath the plants are "Peat Plates" they "provide aquarium extracts necessary for healthy plant growth." If anything I might make a DIY Carbon thingy with a bottle yeast and sugar. I'll get a better light when I can. Comment, Rate, and Subscribe if you wish. I would appreciate it if you did. • tank27.mov after 27 days the bacteria had set in. It was time to add new creatures, i added a cherry shrimp ( that is quite amusing to watch ) and a otto, he or she loves to chill out. The cabomba keeps on growing and i replanted some to the left side of the tank. the anubias have been sprouting. and I tied one much better to the wood. on the other hand i had 3 types of algae growing: blue-green, that i remove by hand, beard on the java fern leaves that are close to the light ( i scrubbed thouse with a tooth brush ) and some tiny bit of hair algae ( i read thats a good sign ) the 3 white clouds are active and like to play. feeding them every other day..except for weekends. the red colors on their fins have brighten.

  • Planted Riverscape: Sewell Park Underwater Sewell Park, situated at the top of the publicly-accessible area of the San Marcos River, is a great place to see quite a bit of "aquarium plants" and a diversity of other life. See if you can spot what I think I see: musk turtle, largemouth bass (including a baby!), several sunfish, Cabomba caroliniana, Hydrilla or Elodea (?), Hygrophila sp., "Hornwort", "Texas Wild Rice", and more! If you are feeling adventurous, head over to USGS and find their origins (search.usgs.gov ). Hope you enjoy, and feel free to ask any questions!

  • Betta Tank - Update 1 In this very first update after submitting the initial video, a lot has changed. There are now 6 fish in this tank. No more will be added. The Cabomba has now been doing semi well after adding some aluminum foil to the back of my light. It helps reflect more light in. It's very noticeable. No fin nipping at all and all the fish seem to get along well. I plan to change the aquascape by adding a medium sized piece of driftwood and removing the rocks already in place. In this video you can have a little sneak peak at my little fish dungeon. For the record, it's just a dungeon like room with my 55 gallon's wires and a lot of fish stuff. Comment and Rate please. Subscribing is appreciated.

  • San Marcos River Headwaters This is a video tour of the headwaters of the San Marcos River, just downstream of Spring Lake. Spring Lake is fed by Aquarena Springs, which provides extremely high quality water for the flora and fauna downstream of the lake. I think you folks at AquaticPlantCentral.com will get a kick out of this video ; ) Being under the water at this place was everything that I hoped it would be. It's like being a minnow swimming around in a beautifully planted 200G tank. Plants I'm fairly certain that I identified: - Valisnéria Gigantea - Cabomba Aquatica - Zizania texana (Texas Wild Rice) - Ludwigia repens (Red Ludwigia) - Hydrocotyle verticillata (Whorled Marsh Pennywort) - Cabomba Caroliniana (Carolina Fanwort) - Ceratophylum Demersum (Hornwort) ...but there are many others! Hope you like the video.
  • 55 Gallon Tank Replanted Possible Final Layout... Hi all... here is the possible final layout of my 55 gallon planted aquarium. The substrate was change to Caribsea Flormax Midnight. I original went out looking for a new piece of driftwood this morning, but couldn't find any to my liking so I used some of my existing pieces and turn them upside-down. All plants are trimmings or pieces of my existing plants except for the bunch behind the right side driftwood which I think is Lysimachia nummularia, but I could be wrong. I'm undecided if I am keeping it in the tank or will replace with another... I'll sleep on it. The aquarium still looks bare, given time the plants will soon grow in... esp the Sagittaria subulata. will add fish within the week (amazon / tetra) and update. Aquarium Plants: Java Fern / Moss, Anubias Nana, Corkscrew Vallisneria, Cryptocoryne wendtii, Echinodorus Red Flame, Sagittaria subulata and Cabomba carolina Substrate: CaribSea Flormax Midnight Filter: Aquaclear 70

  • Awesome 37 Gallon Planted Aquarium! This is my 37 gallon planted aquarium. I have an Emperor 400 filter which is more than enough to filter this tank. For the lighting I have a 24" compact fluorescent light strip which totals 130 watts. That equals out to about 3.5 watts per gallon. One white and one actinic light bulb. I also have a home made CO2 injection kit that works wonders for the plants. I find that adding some plant food with every water change helps the plants look their best as well. In the foreground I have Dwarf Hairgrass and Java Moss. Middle I have Java Ferns and some Rotala Macaras. Background is Cabomba. I also have some lily bulbs planted. They just started sprouting the other day. For my fish, I have five Tetras. They are a certain type which is partially transparent. I have two Otocinclus which help to control my algae. I am going to get some more of these guys soon because they do such a great job. They can be seen near the end of the video clinging to the powerhead cord. And I also have one Synodontis Lace Catfish. Feel free to comment or ask any questions!
