  • HTC Incredible S Hardware Review The HTC Incredible S is characterized by a buttonless design, that is, until you turn on the phone. The buttons can actually change orientation depending on how you're holding the phone. The device is pretty slim, and has a similar backing to the Verizon Droid Incredible. The screen, which uses Super LCD, has better contrast than even the Desire HD, which also uses a Super LCD panel. The 4" display is WVGA resolution, so that is 800x480 across. Overall the device feels a bit cheap since it has no metal, but it's also quite lightweight. Website: Facebook Twitter:

  • HANDS ON THE NEW IPOD SHUFFLE 4TH GEN -HD C-NETS FIRST HANDS ON VIDEO ON THE NEW SHUFFLE 4TH GEN The iPod Shuffle is back to the design that made it famous, only better and cheaper than ever. With five colors (silver, green, pink, orange, and blue), one capacity (2GB), all the features of last year's VoiceOver model, and one low price ($49), the fourth-generation iPod Shuffle seems to be the best model yet. There's very little new to report on the latest Shuffle. The navigation controls, clip, and power switch are taken right from the second-gen design, while the internal features, such as VoiceOver navigation of your playlists, music collection, audiobooks, podcasts, and so on, are all borrowed from the buttonless third-gen model. So what is new? Well, the design is a little smaller and more squarish than the second-gen model. You can sync Genius playlists now. Battery life is now 15 hours, up from 10. There's also a new button up on the top edge, which triggers the VoiceOver menu navigation. Previously, this VoiceOver button was located on the cable of the included earbuds. Now, with the remote button directly on the device, the Shuffle is back to shipping with standard earbuds. Stay tuned for a full review of the fourth-generation iPod Shuffle next week.
  • Apple MacBook Pro 2009 (2.66GHz, 17-inch) first look When the latest 13- and 15-inch MacBooks were announced in October 2008, a similar revamp of the larger 17-inch version of the MacBook Pro was conspicuously missing from the lineup. In January of 2009, Apple announced the 17-inch model would be getting the same "unibody" aluminum chassis, buttonless (or more accurately, all-button) touchpad, and edge-to-edge glass on the LED backlit display. It's actually taken until late February for the systems to start shipping, but finally big-screen fans can get all the latest and greatest Apple improvements in a desktop replacement form factor, starting at $2799. Internally, Apple has moved to an Nvidia chipset with improved integrated graphics, which is then paired with a dedicated Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT graphics card that can be turned off and on as needed to improve battery life or boost performance. The MacBook Pro, while expensive, remains a go-to for media professionals, and the new 17-inch version will be an especially welcome addition for photo and video types who have wanted the latest graphics, chassis, and touchpad upgrades in an HD-friendly 1920x1,200 package.

  • iPad 3: Will It be Buttonless? Given some of the new features present in the iPad 2, it would appear as if Apple is trying to reduce the usage of buttons as much as possible. I personally base this idea off the following two observations, which are demonstrated and elaborated on in the video: 1) The Smart Cover can sleep and wake the iPad 2 2) Developers can enable a hidden set of multitouch gestures that replace the need for the home button in a couple of areas. Therefore, I pose the following open question to the YouTube Community: Do you think the iPad 3 could be buttonless? iPad 4? Ever? Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments. If I believe you have a good point, I will reply to your comment. PS: For those who want the addition multiouch gestures, you will need either xCode 3 or 4 and a Mac. If you meet those requirements, do the following: 1) Open xCode on your Mac. 2) If the Welcome to xCode screen appears, close it. 3) Check to see if you have a window titled Organizer open. If not, press shift + command + O. 4) Plugin iPad to USB port. It should appear in Devices in the Organizer window. 5) Location and check the "Use this device for development" option. 6) If an Apple ID prompt appears, click cancel. 7) Click through any additional alerts by approving them. 8) Wait for Developer Mode to be enabled on your iPad. 9) Once enabled, close xCode (and iTunes if it opened or just eject your iPad from iTunes if you already had it open). 10) Disconnect iPad. 11) Enjoy! These gestures are Apple ...

  • Apple MacBook (Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M) first look There are two ways to look at Apple's newly reimagined MacBook laptops. They can be seen as more advanced, and in some ways more expensive, versions of the classic 13-inch MacBook, but we prefer to think of them as slightly stripped down, and less expensive, versions of the 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro line. Some Internet commentators have even referred to the new models as the "MacBook Pro Mini." Internally, the big news is an Nvidia chipset with improved integrated graphics, while the "unibody" aluminum chassis, the buttonless (or more accurately, all-button) touch pad, and edge-to-edge glass on the LED-backlit display are the major physical changes on the outside. While the base model keeps the same $1299 price (our review unit was the upgraded $1599 version with a faster processor, a bigger hard drive, and backlit keyboard), you lose the FireWire port in the transition. And the $1299 model gets you a 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo, rather than the 2.4GHz CPU. The higher-end model keeps the same 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, but also costs $100 more. Both new MacBook models operate on a faster front-side bus, (from 800MHz to 1066MHz) and move from DDR2 memory to DDR3

  • The Buttonless Concealed Toilet, Old Wall Hung Armitage Shanks, Lifestyle Fitness Centre, Skegness Back to Skegness we go! You're probably thinking this toilet has a handle from the title, wrong. It doesn't have a handle, or button, or sensor... Here we have a wall hung concealed Armitage Shanks toilet, old batch, with blue Bakasan seat and matching sink. Flush on this is brilliant, really long, sounds great and is really powerful. All due to the highish level concealed cistern with chain hanging out the side! I wasn't thinking of going in this one due to new rimlesses being in the gents toilets, but I only did as I needed to go on the way out and there was no access to the normal toilets. This was quite a shocker, I walked in, wondering where the handle or button was. Then I saw a chain and handle on the side of the concealing box, amazing! Never seen this before, really unique. Worth a visit, the outdoor heated pool is great too.
  • Dr. Cox - Buttonless "You couldn't push my buttons if you tried. In fact, I have no *buttons*. Please think of me as buttonless, all smooth like GI Joe's nether regions. And, by the by, this image is brought to you by my son, Jack, who has been yanking the pants off of his toy soldiers and leaving them in provocative positions on my nightstand. It is just disturbing enough so that, leaving the house, I'm cranky, unless able to suffer fools. Which brings me back to you: the fool. I'm done suffering you, so go now, go, go before you can write a book entitled, 'Help! A Large Doctor Is Beating My Ass, *colon*, The Lester Hedrick Story'."

  • Apple MacBook Pro (Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M w/ 512MB) first look Of Apple's MacBook Pro lineup, only the two 15-inch models received the complete workup today. By now, you're probably aware of the design changes, which include a new "unibody" chassis, new buttonless multitouch trackpad, the addition of a mini DisplayPort, and the subtraction of the FireWire 400 port. Let's take a closer look at the changes under the hood. Pricing remains the same, with $1999 and $2499 default configurations. The biggest change is the move away from Intel and to the Nvidia GeForce 9400M chipset and the introduction of a dual-graphics setup that lets you switch between integrated 9400M graphics and discrete GeForce 9600M GT graphics (either a 256MB or a 512MB card). The higher-end model now ships with 4GB of RAM by default, and doubling the RAM on the lower-end model is $50 cheaper, at $150. The CPUs remain largely unchanged, but now operate on a faster 1066MHz bus. The $2499 MacBook Pro lets you upgrade to a 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo for $300; previously, the fastest chip offered was a 2.6GHz processor. Larger 320GB hard drives are now offered, including a 7200rpm unit, as is a 128GB solid-state drive.
  • Apple Magic Mouse w/Multi-Touch Demo - World's First Multi-Touch Mouse Apple today has unveiled a whole new line of products, including the iMac, Mac Mini, and MacBook. Full details here: adf.ly "Weve built a better mouse. It began with iPhone. Then came iPod touch. Then MacBook Pro. Intuitive, smart, dynamic. Multi-Touch technology introduced a remarkably better way to interact with your portable devices — all using gestures. Now weve reached another milestone by bringing gestures to the desktop with a mouse thats unlike anything ever before. It's called Magic Mouse. It's the world's first Multi-Touch mouse. And while it comes standard with every new iMac, you can also add it to any Bluetooth-enabled Mac for a Multi-Touch makeover." "Seamless Multi-Touch Surface Magic Mouse — with its low-profile design and seamless top shell — is so sleek and dramatically different, it brings a whole new feel to the way you get around on your Mac. You cant help but marvel at its smooth, buttonless appearance. Then you touch it and instantly appreciate how good it feels in your hand. But its when you start using Magic Mouse that everything comes together. The Multi-Touch area covers the top surface of Magic Mouse, and the mouse itself is the button. Scroll in any direction with one finger, swipe through web pages and photos with two, and click and double-click anywhere. Inside Magic Mouse is a chip that tells it exactly what you want to do. Which means Magic Mouse wont confuse a scroll with a swipe. It even knows when youre just resting your hand on it ...
  • Portal 2 - Insane Cube Tricks (Part Two) Portal 2 - Insane Cube Tricks (Part Two) PLEASE READ Thanks for the overwhelming response to Part One, i had literally zero subscriptions before that video, so it means a lot. Extra special thanks to the people who sent the video to Joystiq and Kotaku and other gaming sites and those sites for posting it (Michael at Kotaku is a legend for picking it up so early and posting this one too!) OK, onto Part Two. Carrying on the tradition of attempting a cube trick in every room, i burned through the game quite quickly as there are a lot of backroom cube and buttonless segments in the middle section. I nailed some pretty epic tricks though, so i hope you enjoy them. The gels in particular were a lot of fun. Chapter 8 is chock full of cubes and buttons so part three will be pretty special, and co-op is going to be a lot of fun too. The 'Smooth Jazz' from Portal 2 is called 'Offering' by Larry Stephens. You can download it here; Please support his awesome music. The Chamber 10 tricks are based on the routes used in Tautudels and Transgenic86's speedruns. I have modified them for cube tricks rather than speed, so they are quite different. But credit to them for the inspiration. With Acer cutting away from its boring black matte finish on there typical monitors, it also allows them to integrate a new feature called the smart sensor touch. This makes the monitor 95% buttonless, makeing the power button the only true button on the whole monitor.
