Moments in television : Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Body Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a TV series created and directed by Joss Whedon, and aired from 1997 to 2003 in the US. This is an excerpt from "The Body", episode 16, season 5. Previous to this scene, Buffy's mother, Joyce, had been diagnosed with cancer, and the tumor was surgically removed. But just when everyone felt that the worse had passed, Buffy comes home and finds Joyce lying unconscious on the couch. This is the beginning of a downward spiral that will take a little (and sometimes a lot) from everyone's hearts. From there on, things only get darker. This scene is very different from the rest of the series : the slow pace, the silence, the cinematographic tone contrast with the other episodes, full of action, humorous sarcasm, playful banter and drama. The audience has to feel that something has been broken ; in a story full of violent deaths, Whedon wanted us to feel that this time, it was different, that this time, death actually mattered. Buffy opens the door, we can hear the children outside, the wind bell quietly singing in a sunny day. The impressionist influence is noteworthy. The image is poetic, like Kurosawa's "Rashomon". Indubitably the best of Whedon's work.

Whedon himself was asked who he thought would win if these two went mano y mano and the director picked Buffy to squeak out a win. Considering he is the one who created the character, he may be slightly biased, so let's take a look at the stats so you can decide for yourselves. Buffy debuted in 1992 in the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The campy horror comedy managed a measly $16.6 million. Black Widow, on the other hand first appeared on screen in 2010's Iron Man 2 which went on to gross $623 million worldwide. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - We Are Young. It's about damn time I did something fun. For a while, all of my recent projects had been a little angst-y. I haven't finished most of them yet. But I've been trying to make more humorous, lighter videos. This, I started a while ago, but never really continued it. Just as I was getting it almost finished, I saw that somebody else had made their own using this fandom and song. And they're a really good vidder, so that threw me off, and I didn't wanna post it. Buffy vs Edward: Twilight Remixed -- [original version] In this re-imagined narrative, Edward Cullen from the Twilight Series meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's an example of transformative storytelling serving as a pro-feminist visual critique of Edward's character and generally creepy behavior. Seen through Buffy's eyes, some of the more ***ist gender roles and patriarchal Hollywood themes embedded in the Twilight saga are exposed - in hilarious ways. Ultimately this remix is about more than a decisive showdown between the slayer and the sparkly vampire.
