  • Boomkin Tanks Yor A Balance Druid in Moonkin form tanks Yor, a summoned monster in the Heroic Mode version of Mana-Tombs. Shown from the healer perspective (a Paladin). DPS was done by a Priest who usually plays Holy, but went Shadow for the evening, a Druid who is usually a feral tank, but was Resto for Arenas, and a Warlock alt of a Mage we all raid with. Definitly an overpowered setup.

  • Boomkin Cataclysm Rotation PTR 12984 Me trying to build a functional back and forth Boom rotation in build 12984. Sunfire not working atm. This is on Argent Tourney dummy to avoid extra Starfall hits. Granted, it's lvl 80 dummy versus 83 dummy in cities. That aside, city dummy DPS is higher due to Starfall targetting. Commentary on add-ons and rotation decisions are included. What I'm struggling with is a three-state Lunar ~15 sec / Non-Eclipse ~8 sec / Solar ~15 second rotational spell school buff intermixed with Long duration dots and DFO / Phylactery procs interwoven as well (honestly, when they are active, the trinket procs have more of an upward effect on dps than the Eclipse cycles). Makes for a tough time knowing when and when not to clip. World of Logs report for this will also be here: At least for the next month or so -- after that, no one is probably interested anywho.

That said, this video came about after some theorycrafting discussions at Elitist Jerks prompted me to dig the Starfire glyph out of the deep dark hole it's been sitting in since Cataclysm launched. It is a follow-on to my prior Boomkin 4 pc T11 rotation video which can be found here: This is basically a revision of that video using Starfire glyph instead of Wrath glyph. The net value of this is moving my combined Moonfire/Sunfire uptime from ~75% to ~95% and buying me another ~750 dps out of the 4 pc rotation. Some commentary is included, though less than normal as I'm not feeling well. I think if you've seen the prior video, you'll quickly see that most of that same strategy remains in place, simply Sunfire/Moonfire remain up more consistently due to the glyph and are refreshed pretty much right before the last cast that will take you out of an Eclipse. Starfall was not used because it splashed to the nearby dummies causing Damage Meter to give an inaccurately high DMG report.   • Cataclysm Boomkin Rotation and Strategy My Balance PvE Guide can be found at The Moonkin Repository: This is a video to demonstrate Balance Druid single-target, multi-target, and aoe dps techniques in Cataclysm. It's my quick answer to all the "what's the boomkin rotation?, why is my dps so low?" questions I see on many forums. Watch the video and pay special attention to the cast bar, the eclipse bar, and to the dot and cooldown trackers. Once you understand what is happening, practice, practice, practice. Do this and you will very likely see a dps increase. As to my credentials and who I am to be putting forth a video like this, while I am in a US top 50, world top 200 guild, I do not claim to be the best balance druid out there by any stretch. I've been playing the spec only since the tail end of Heroic ICC in WotLK. That said, I'm a reasonably quick study and I have been consistently world top 50 balance spec damage in T11 Cataclysm content across all encounters. The strategies I'm showing on these target dummies are the strategies I employ in those raid encounters.
