  • 079 : An ***at(Those Who Tear Out) - malay 79. Surah ***at (Those Who Tear Out) Name It is derived from the word wan-***`at with which the Surah opens. Period of Revelation According to Hadrat Abdullah bin Abbas, this Surah was sent down after Surah An-Naba. Its subject matter also testifies that it belongs to the earliest period at Makkah. Theme and Subject Matter Its theme is affirmation of Resurrection and the life hereafter; It also warns of the consequences of belying the Messenger of God. The Surah opens with oaths sworn by the angels who take the soul at deaths and those who hasten to carryout Allah's Commands, and those who conduct the affairs of the universe according to Divine Will, to assure that the Resurrection will certainly come to pass and the second life after death will certainly take place. For the angels who are employed to pluck out the soul today can also be employed to restore the soul tomorrow, and the angels who promptly execute Allah's Commands and conduct the affairs of the universe today can also upset the order of the universe tomorrow by orders of the same God and can also bring about a new order. After this the people have been told, so as to say: "This work which you regard as absolutely impossible, is not any difficult for Allah, for which He may have to make lengthy preparations. Just a single jolt will upset this system of the world and a second jolt will be enough to cause you to appear as living beings in the new world. • Prophet Zachariah نبي زكرية Zakariya (Zachariah), Peace Be Upon Him Before Prophet Jesus, peace be upon him, was born, Zakariya was a Prophet to the tribes of Israel. He called them to worship Allah. He also frightened them with the torture of Allah. This was at a time when people committed many major sins. The people responded to his call by belying and harassing him. Prophet Zakariya had reached an old age by this time. His wife was also at an old age and barren. Prophet Zakariya supplicated Allah to grant him a pious son who would also be made a prophet. Allah revealed to him the good news that he would have a son. Allah, ta^ala, said: يَا زَكَرِيَّا إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلامٍ اسْمُهُ يَحْيَى لَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُ مِن قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا Ayah 7 of Surat Maryam means: {O Zakariya, We [Allah] are giving you the good news that you will have a son, called Yahya, and he will be the first to have this name.} However, the Jews were insistent on killing Prophet Zakariya. They captures him, and killed him. The murderous Jews used a saw to cut Prophet Zakariya, peace be upon him.
  • Impeachment Hearings 07/25/08 - Vincent Bugliosi Today's hearing on the abuse of presidential powers before the House Committee on the Judiciary turned into a devastating political ambush by Chairman John Conyers (D-MI), committee Democrats, and the extraordinary panel of witnesses.. At least 12 Democratic Committee members were present plus the Chairman while only four Republicans bothered to show up. Belying their casual appearance in the committee chambers, the Democrats presented a well coordinated, hard hitting case against President George W. Bush. This led to a double climax in the form of surgically erudite testimony by conservative legal scholar Bruce Fein, a former Reagan administration official, and former Los Angeles District Attorney Vincent Bugliosi's stunning summary statement. The best the Republicans could offer was inappropriate humor by Rep. Don Lundgren (D-CA) and a request to clear the chambers when the audience cheered Mr. Bugliosi's remarks. The hearing resulted from the non stop campaign for the impeachment of President George W. Bush by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH). That effort received an overwhelming endorsement last week with the votes of a 238 majority in the US House of Representatives. The 229 Democrats and 9 Republicans voted to refer the single count impeachment bill to the House or Representatives Committee on the Judiciary chaired by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI). read the full text here:
  • Lee Curtiss - I Can Hear You Arthur The Summer Track of 2010 !! 'I Can Hear You Arthur', a tribute to one of Lee's long-time music heroes, Arthur Russell, is an emotional escape. With Russell being a direct sound-inspiration for the release, we are treated to a longing for a far away love. With waves of sound that build and cascade, accompanied by pillow-talk whisperings, all creating eight minutes of rhythmic, warm grooves.. Arthur never sounded better. After the body-swaying vibes of the A, Side B brings the perspirec-electronic throb and hip-grinding action of Labor of Love. After yearning for Arthur, we are more than appeased with the beautifully sultry and ever so intimate vocals of Stephanie Selvaggio. With it's rhythmic guitar opening belying it's true intention, Labor of Love develops into a sensual dancefloor cut with Stephanie's vocals floating effortlessly with the acidic beats as she drives us ‚Crazy'.. • Grand Ole Opry - Live - (Part 2) : Larry and Lorrie Collins [ Collins Kids ] The Collins Kids When Larry and Lorrie Collins of the Collins Kids stepped onstage at Hemsby-On-Thames in May 1993 before some three thousand raving British rockabilly fans, the brother-sister duo were returning to rock and roll for the first time since they were quite literally children. But the legend of the Collins Kids only grew in their absence. Their '50's recordings were reissued with a startling regularity, culminated by a 1991 Bear Family boxed set from Germany, "Hop Skip & Jump." Bootleg tapes of their TV appearances circulated hotly on the video underground. As ***agers, the two siblings appeared regularly on "Town Hall Party," a weekly Los Angeles television show hosted by country star Tex Ritter, where the beautiful brunette Lorrie belted out the rock and roll with the authority and audacity of someone twice her age and her exposed nerve younger brother twanged and trilled the double-neck Mosrite guitar with a ferocity equally belying his own age. • AMERICAN CONSCIENCE A statement on how many Americans feel about the poor, the sick and the lame. The way that America stands in its rankings in comparison to other industrialized nations. Our fall has been rapid and is accelerating. This Spoken Word can be read at: It goes like this: AMERICAN CONSCIENCE He tottered along the pathway, weakening with every step. He glanced with disinterest at the corpses which littered his path. A babys body caused him to trip, and he nearly fell. Cursing, he kicked it from his path with a force belying his feeble appearance. Ignoring the pleas of a crippled mother holding her dying child, he continued to stumble along through the dead and dying, through the maimed, starving and homeless, with each footstep visibly weaker than the last. The sickly sweet odor of flesh, already rotting, though often living, assailed his nostrils. Impatiently he tried to brush the putrid smell from the air, but failed. A group of healthy, well fed individuals appeared in his field of vision. His pathway edged around an abyss and crossed a grassy knoll near the group. One of the group approached him and asked, Grandfather, may we help you? No, the old man replied. It is too late for me. But what is your problem, the concerned youth asked? I am past dying, the old man replied. I am already dead. The stark answer was greeted by absolute silence. After a pause, as ripe with puzzlement as the air was ripe with the odor of the dead and dying, the odor of despair and ...
  • The Pusher Trilogy Trailer The PUSHER Trilogy In select theatres 8/18 Writer and director Nicolas Winding Refn turned down a place at the prestigious National Danish Film School in order to make his 1996 feature film debut, PUSHER. This violent, edgy, yet moving cult classic established Refn as an uncompromising filmmaker of great talent and depth. Following his next two films, Bleeder (1999), and Fear X (2003), Refn returned to the Copenhagen underworld in 2004 with PUSHER II: WITH BLOOD ON MY HANDS, while 2005 saw the release of the 3rd instalment, PUSHER III: I'M THE ANGEL OF DEATH. All three PUSHER films display Refn effortlessly blending moody atmospherics and frenetic action, portraying his characters with a depth and confidence far belying his years. Though each film can be appreciated independently of the other three, Refn subtly interweaves these three tales so that a minor character in one film moves to the fore to become the central character of the next. The resulting trilogy stands as a masterful reinvention of international crime cinema, as poignantly human as it is brutally and viscerally realized.

Uncharted 2 will include 'Deathmatch', whic is capped at 5 players per side with maps customized from single player levels. Hundreds of thousands of parasol-waving fans braced blistering heat in the capital's storied Revolution Square, with merriment belying the political undertones that the concert has produced. Miami's Cuban exile community has criticized the performance, saying it will legitimize the island's communist regime, and Colombian-born singer Juanes received death threats ahead of the "Peace without Borders" concert. Many of those present appeared focused on the need for Cubans everywhere to unite. "We have to unite Cubans that are inside and those outside. Everyone has family there. It does not matter why they left. We have to leave hate behind," said Yordanis Padron, a 34-year-old electrician. Clutching a umbrella, bottle of water and a snack, 73-year-old Lidia said she hoped the concert would "serve as a message to the imperialists that we want peace and help to reconcile those here with those from over there." Earlier, Obama welcomed plans for the massive but controversial concert, telling US Spanish-language network Univision the performance could help improve ties with Cuba. Obama's Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met the Colombian singer before he left for the island, a trip which has prompted some of Miami's million-strong Cuban exile community to smash ...

  • A glimpse of the Lublianka http The Lubianka building dominates part of the centre of Moscow and is located very close to the Kremlin and Red Square. The Lubyanka was originally built in 1898 as the Neo-Baroque headquarters of the All-Russia Insurance Company, noted for its beautiful parquet floors and pale green walls. Belying its massiveness, the edifice avoids an impression of heroic scale: isolated Palladian and Baroque details, such as the minute pediments over the corner bays and the central loggia, are lost in an endlessly-repeating classicizing palace facade, where three bands of cornices emphasize the horizontal lines. A clock is centered in the uppermost band of the facade. Following the Bolshevik Revolution, the structure was seized by the government for the headquarters of the secret police, then called the Cheka. In Soviet Russian jokes it was referred to as the tallest building in Moscow, since Siberia could be seen from its basement. Another joke referred to the building as "Adult's World" as compared to "Children's World," the name of the popular toy store across the street. During the Great Purge, the offices became increasingly cramped due to staff numbers. In 1940 Aleksey Shchusev was commissioned to double its size by adding another storey and engulfing backstreet buildings. Shchusev's design accentuated Neo-Renaissance detailing, but only the left part of the facade was reconstructed under his direction in the 1940s, due to the war and other ...

The style used to make this video is taken from the Word for Word Quran Compiled by : Dr. Shehnaz Shaikh & Ms. Kausar Khatri It can be found and uploaded at the following website: May Allah bless them for compiling this Quran and making it easy for people to listen and understand it in English. Please visit and support their website, MashAllah there are many other excellent tools for learning & understanding the language of the Quran. Its theme is affirmation of Resurrection and the life hereafter; It also warns of the consequences of belying the Messenger of God.

  • Tiny Tim - "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" (1968) Tribute (1932-1996) Herbert Khaury (April 12, 1932 November 30, 1996), better known by the stage name Tiny Tim, was an American singer, ukulele player, and musical archivist. He was most famous for his rendition of "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" sung in a distinctive high falsetto/vibrato voice (though his normal singing voice was in a standard male range). He was generally regarded as a novelty act, though his records indicate his wide knowledge of American songs. He had no official middle name, though some web sites report it to be "Butros", his father's first name, while during his televised wedding his middle name was given as "Buckingham". His headstone reads "Khaury/Herbert B/Tiny Tim/1932-1996". Throughout the 1950s and early 1960s, Tiny Tim developed something of a cult following. In the 1960s he was seen regularly near the Harvard University campus as a street performer, singing old Tin Pan Alley tunes. His choice of repertoire and his encyclopedic knowledge of vintage popular music impressed many of the spectators. One admirer, Norman Kay, recalled that Tiny Tim's outrageous public persona was a false front belying a quiet, studious personality: "Herb Khaury was the greatest put-on artist in the world. Here he was with the long hair and the cheap suit and the high voice, but when you spoke to him he talked like a college professor. He knew everything about the old songs. Between 1962 and 1966 Tiny Tim recorded a number of songs at small (almost microscopic) recording companies, with ...
  • China Against Libya's Air Strikes Follow us on TWITTER: Like us on FACEBOOK: As the UN coalition continues its air strikes in Libya, dictator Gadhafi publicly vowed to fight to the end. The Chinese government criticizes strongly the UN coalition air strikes against the Libyan ruler. China didn't veto Libya's air strikes resolution at the UN Security Council Why is the Chinese government belying itself? In the morning of March 23, in Libya's capital Tripoli, were heard sounds of explosions and artilleries. Several hours earlier, at his residence in Tripoli, Gadhafi appeared before its supporters to say that Libya would not bow to the West, and preparations for war have been made. This is Gadhafi's 1st public appearance since March 15. Leaders of US, France and UK reached a consensus that NATO should play a key role in the military actions. Currently, Gadhafi's forces and Libyan rebels are having fierce battles in several cities in Libya. Chinese regime continues its overwhelming criticism of the coalition and the air strikes. On March 23, Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s Newspaper, Global Times, published the editorial: "Do not make own political goals international". It criticized discussions posted on a well-known Chinese site about the topic "human rights are above sovereignty", and accusing them in playing "own goals" in international politics. CCP's People's Daily attacked the French President Nicola Sarkozy, who played a critical role in approving UN Resolution 1973. The ...

It's an astonishingly mature example of his genius, its brevity belying its sophistication, with the setting of the heart-rending words of this poem by Eichendorff telling of a man's love long buried in the mountains, where he wishes to die, worthy of a composer 4 times his age. This song was not published until 2006.

  • Prophet Muhammad's Miracles Israa and Miraj part two The night Journey. Allah sent the prophets as a mercy to the slaves and supported them with miracles to indicate the truthfulness of their message. Of all the prophets, our Prophet, Muhammad, was blessed with the most miracles. Al-Isra' and al-Mi^raj are among the many miracles of Prophet Muhammad. The miracle of al-Isra' is confirmed in the Qur'an. In Surat al-Isra', Ayah 1, Allah said: which means: [Praise be to Allah Who enabled His slave, Muhammad, to make the journey at night from Masjid al-Haram in Makkah to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem, which is surrounded a blessed land.] This journey is also confirmed in the sahih hadith. As such, there is scholarly consensus (ijma^) Prophet Muhammad journeyed in body and soul the night of al-Isra' from Masjid al-Haram in Makkah to Masjid al-Aqsain Jerusalem. Moreover, these scholars indicated the person who denies al-Isra' is a blasphemer for belying the explicit text of the Qur'an. Before the Prophet took this night journey, the ceiling of the house in which he was staying was opened, and Jibril descended. He cut open the chest of Prophet Muhammad and washed that open area with Zamzam water. Then he emptied something from a container into the chest of the Prophet to increase his wisdom as well as the strength of his belief. This was done to prepare the Messenger of Allah for that which he had yet to see in the upper world from among the wonders of the creation of Allah. Al-Isra' After the Prophet performed the Evening Prayer ...
  • Deastro - "Light Powered" Culled from the best of Randolph Chabot's home-recorded output over the last decade, Keepers is a loose best-of a tour through the many worlds of Deastro. All of his genre-hopping — shy synth-pop to instrumental robot-rock, whisper-soft ballads to sky-high anthems — would be nothing if not for his deliriously fizzy production and soft-focus melodies. Keepers is a strange amalgamation of an artist's various obsessions, disjointed but held together by sheer force of will, coming from humble origins but belying grand ambitions of beauty, positivity, and imagination.

Mark Mothersbaugh's distinctive high register vocal aerobics were matched by energetic and effortless instrumentation belying the band's advancing years. Sonic caught up with them at Brighton's Dome Theatre where they discussed Sonar Festival, Brian Eno, their musical influences, The Mini Moog, their broken Arp Odyssey, Mark's stolen laptop and what it's like to be back in Europe after 15 years.

  • Save the Uranium-233, Explore Space, Save Lives Google Tech Talk January 13, 2011 Presented by Kirk Sorensen. ABSTRACT Uranium-233 does not exist naturally, but about a ton of the stuff was transmuted from Thorium-232 at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the 1960's. Some people would have us blend this exceedingly rare element with natural uranium for disposal. However, Uranium-233 can be used in an advanced nuclear reactor with interesting properties. Uranium-233 is the cleanest burning fissile material. Employed as an initial fuel load for a Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactor, this small supply of Uranium-233 can be the match to ignite a process that produces a huge supply of electricity along with small quantities of useful fission products. In particular, the LFTR produces small amounts of Plutonium-238, essential for NASA's deep space missions; Technetium-99m, exceedingly valuable for medical imaging; and other specialized isotopes used in cancer treatments. Nuclear power reactors can be engineered to produce many valuable materials through transmutation belying the term "nuclear waste". Kirk Sorensen is chief nuclear technologist at Teledyne Brown Engineering in Huntsville, Alabama. He has been researching the nuclear fuel cycle for many years in connection with a strong interest in thorium as a planetary energy source. He is also a PhD student in nuclear engineering at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville under Dr. Laurence Miller. He runs a blog called "" and is active in the Thorium ...
