  • 02 Complete Enlightenment (Michell) 02 Complete Enlightenment (Michell) THE SUTRA OF COMPLETE ENLIGHTENMENT Translated from the Chinese of Buddhatrata by Ven. Guo-go Bhikshu. Bodhisattva Samantabhadra if these sentient beings come to understand illusion, then body and mind are also illusory. How can they then use illusion to remedy illusion? How could they be liberated from illusory conceptualization? you have asked about the expedient, gradual stages of the bodhisattvas practice of the samadhi in which all is seen to be like an illusion, and which frees sentient beings from illusion. all illusory projections of sentient beings arise from the wondrous mind of the Tathagatas Complete Enlightenment, just like flowers in the sky which come into existence from out of the sky. When the illusory flower vanishes, the nature of the sky is not marred. When all illusions are extinguished, the enlightened mind remains unmoved. the extinction of illusion is called the unmoving mind of enlightenment. to know illusion is to depart from it; there is no need to contrive expedient means! To depart from illusion is to be enlightened; there are no gradual steps! Samantabhadra, you should know that the beginningless illusory ignorance of all sentient beings is grounded on the Tathagatas mind of Complete Enlightenment. Like a flower in empty space, its appearance relies on the sky. When the illusory flower vanishes, the empty space remains in its original unmoving state. Illusion depends on enlightenment for ...
  • Rebirth : A Continuation of Consciousness With our human limitations, can we imagine eternity? Passing through beginningless and endless duration, we finally reach our present life and subsequent death, and then we exist once more in endless eternity. Our view of time, like that of space, depends on our vantage point. From the standpoint of eternal duration, the seemingly vast five-billion-year life of our solar system is an insignificant blip. Why, then, out of all eternity, are we at this one instant in what we call time? What do we do in the rest of eternity? Even granting that some believe we can escape the wheel of rebirth and attain the ultimate goal of nirvana, we are still left with eternity. A classical Greek saying runs: sleep and death are brothers. It's instructive to compare death with sleep. We go to sleep at night and enter a different state of consciousness, but we awake in the morning as a continuation of the same consciousness as that of the previous day. In much the same way, reincarnation is the continuation of consciousness after death. Reincarnation is similar to the concept of a resurrected body. Where does our body resurrect? It seems logical that the place where our human consciousness reimbodies itself is this earth, the natural home to which it is attracted. As expressed by Katherine Tingley: There is a deep instinct in the soul that this earth is its natural home and that happiness is its natural state. That is why those who have sought to describe heaven have never been able at the ...

  • Karma and Rebirth in Theravada Buddhism Part 2 of 8 No justice in this lifetime- karma has to push beyond this life, beginningless previous lives, no beginning to the universe, you before the big bang, samsara and five realms of existence, devas and asuras- the jealous gods, nirvana is beyond samsara, you're experiencing resultants from past life actions, three time periods to feel effects. This was recorded in class five of the Buddhist Philosophy and Meditation course in adult Ed. at the Vancouver School Board in BC, Canada in November, 2008. Brian Ruhe is a former Buddhist monk, author of the book, "Freeing the Buddha," published by Motilal Banarsidass Publishers, in India, and Brian has been teaching Buddhism for 12 years. • Follow-Up To "Does Counting Exist?" - Examining Beginningless Numbers Thanks to inquiries from VeritySeeker and tenchoosethree, I've been able to refine some ideas presented in a previous video of mine regarding the existence of counting. It's a good way to celebrate Halloween and forget about the upcoming midterm election and its results. Any criticism is welcome and hopefully will be addressed later. I've never studied ordinal numbers, so if you mention those in your criticism I will be lost. A lot of numbers in math are endless, but I like to think of some of the numbers I bring up in the video as beginningless. I'm grateful to mateo3470 for relating these to P-adic numbers. I had never heard of those before.

  • Complete Disproofs of God (2 of 4) This series is subtitled, "Atheism for Children." It is aimed at primary school age children (6 to 11 years). Complete disproofs of God are based on logic, not science. Number 2 video: "There never was a beginning" introduces cause and effect. Cause and effect is not really a linear, billiard-ball like process in time. It is about what makes things: their parts. This video proves logically that God does not exist as a first cause, because all causes have causes of their own.

  • Fire Offering Part 1 This offering for wandering souls trapped within this Samsara that are unable to take rebirth. It was said the reason these souls that are trapped is mainly due to strong attachment of their previous life prior death. The foods are blessed through a series of auspicious prayers chanted with pure motivation and intention to benefit. The tempting smell of smoke attracts these souls, and thus satisfied their desires and the medicinal pills/herbs tuned their mind so that they realize that they are already dead and thus make their way to another rebirth. Depending on the aspiration and wish of the participants during the ritual , it can also be a practice to repay karmic debts accumulated since beginning less time.Family members of the deceased normally engage monks to perform the Smoke Puja for duration of 49 days.In between sessions, they recite the Chenrezig and Guru Rinponche mantras. All participants are welcome to bring along family and friends and are advise to bring own food offerings which will be combined with offerings by others.Food such as medicinal herbs, honey, yogurt, biscuits and other edible snacks are recommended. Some say the Lingam is a phallic symbol, though this explanation is disputed and most Hindus do not relate the Lingam to the phallus... Lingam (also, Linga, Shiva linga, Tamil லிங்கம், Sanskrit लिङ्गं liṅgaṃ, meaning "mark" or "sign") is an aniconic representation of the Hindu deity Shiva used for worship in temples.[1] Although most Hindu sculpted images (murtis) are anthropomorphic, the aniconic Shiva Linga is an important exception.[2] The Lingam is often represented with the Yoni, the aniconic symbol of the goddess. The union represents the "indivisible two-in-oneness of male and female, the passive space and active time from which all life originates".[3] The origins and interpretations of the Lingam are a subject of intense debate. According to one tradition, the Lingam represents the beginning-less and end-less Stambha pillar, suggesting the superiority and power of Shiva.[4][5] Another theory suggests that the Lingam is a phallic symbol, though this explanation is disputed and most Hindus do not relate the Lingam to the phallus... • 01 Complete Enlightenment (Michell) 01 Complete Enlightenment (Michell) THE SUTRA OF COMPLETE ENLIGHTENMENT Translated from the Chinese of Buddhatrata by Ven. Guo-go Bhikshu. Bodhisattva Manjusri Please expound to the multitude who have come to this assembly the Tathagatas Dharma practice of the original-arising purity of the causal ground. Please also expound to us how bodhisattvas may initiate this state of pure mind within the Mahayana and leave all illness. w ill not fall into erroneous views. how they can attain correct abiding and not fall into erroneous views. The original-arising purity of the causal ground of theTathagatas relies on the complete illumination of intrinsic enlightenment, which is pure in essence and permanently free from ignorance. What is ignorance? Virtuous man, since beginningless time, all sentient beings have had all sorts of delusions, like a disoriented person who has lost his sense of direction. They mistake the four great elements as the attributes of their bodies, and the conditioned impressions of the six sense objects as the attributes of their minds. They are like a man with an illness of the eyes who sees an illusory flower in the sky, or a second moon. Because of this false existence to which he clings, he remains in the turning wheel of birth and death. Hence this is called ignorance. this ignorance has no real substance. It is like a person in a dream. Though the person exists in the dream, when the dreamer awakens, there is nothing that can be ...

Therefore, an uncaused, personal Creator of the universe exists, who sans the universe is beginningless, changless, immaterial, timeless, spaceless, and enormously powerful. In our Indian tradition, all the Four Vedas are beginning less and the origin of them is totally forgotten. In Hindu Desam it is believed that the Vedas were arranged by Veda Vyasa, who lived in the closing years of the Divapara Yuga, come to an end on the 18th februar 3012 BC In the beginning of the Kaliyuga, the Vedas and other allied literature must have been composed long before 3102 BC Further taking into consideration, the dynasty of the Kings mentioned in the puranas, the date of the Rig Vedic civilization goes back to 3000B.C. Worshipping Ram-Sethu is a faith of Hindus. Some people asking, whether Ram-Sethu is a place of worship? There is no doubt in this. Rameswaram and the temple deity Lord Ramanatha swami exist for the last thousands of years. Rama worshipped Siva at Rameswaram Temple is a known fact from the ancient Puranas. The Ramanatha Swamy Temple is still standing as Historical evidence. We must have belief in everything. The Tamil Nadu Government is purposely hiding the facts of available records about Ramar-Sethu Bridge. About the existence of the Bridge, Ram-Sethu Bridge protection committee has now brought it to the notice of all people. In the Department of land-survey records of Ramanathapuram district, in the Survey record books, it is shown in page 287, that 12 Acres and 91 Ars were the upland boundaries of Ram-Sethu island. • Chundi Bodhisattva Healing Mantra Chundi Bodhisattva Healing Mantra This is a very powerful and Holy Buddhist Mantra that is used for Exorcism, Healing, Spiritual protection, etc If any bhiksu and bhisuni, upasaka and upasika upholds and recites this dharani 800000 times, all his or her deadly karmic transgressions created since beginningless time shall be eliminated. The individual shall earn the opportunity to meet all buddhas and bodhisattvas wherever he or she is born, and shall be endowed with all accumulations of merit as the individual wishes. The individual shall gain the opportunity to renounce worldly existence in every lifetime, maintaining all the precepts and vows of a bodhisattva. If one should complete a recitation of this mantra 100000 times, one shall dream of the buddhas, bodhisattvas, pratyekabuddhas and sravakas, and see a black substance being vomited out of one's mouth. Should an individual commit a heavy karmic transgression, upon reciting the mantra 200000 times he or she shall dream of the buddhas and bodhisattvas and will also, in his or her dreams, vomit a black substance. • Tristram Shandy Paradox I have not seen a discussion of this paradox here on Youtube, and in light of my last video I thought it appropriate to to talk about the Tristram Shady paradox. "suppose Tristram Shandy has been writing from eterrnity past at the rate of 1 day per year. Should not Tristram Shandy new be infintly far behind? For if he has lived for an infinite nember of years, Tristram Shandy has recorded an equeally infinite number of past days. Given the thoroughness of his autobiography, these days are all consecutive days. At any point in the past or present, therefore, Tristram Shandy has recorded a beginningless, infinite seies of consecutive days. But now the question arises: which days are these? Where in the temporal series of events are the days recorded by Tristram Shandy at any given point? The answer can only be that they are infinitely distant from the present." -William Lane Craig, Blackwell Companion to Natural Theology pg 121
  • 0063 Section 3, Chapter 9 Yoga Vasistha Rama wants to see things as Vasistha does. Liberation is not a state. Perhaps it could be described as a stateless state. Everything we know is only notional. Liberation is about not getting caught up in states, in notions. It is objectivity. We are not getting caught up in categories. "Beginningless ignorance" = the cognitive process. It can be overcome by inquiry. Perception arises as a result of the cognitive process. There is actually no such thing. The cognitive process is intrinsic to being. It is sometimes described as a vibration in the infinite. The infinite is not subject to cognisance. When we struggle to understand the Yoga Vasistha it is our cognitive process that is struggling. The solution is to bypass the cognitive process.
