When the IL-8 target was present, a 'sandwich'-based assay attached magnetic beads with IL-8 capture antibody to streptavidin coupled fluorescent protein via the IL-8 target and a biotinylated IL-8 antibody. The magnetic beads are maneuvered into oscillatory motion by applying an alternating magnetic field gradient through two electromagnetic poles. The fluorescent proteins, which are attached to the magnetic beads are condensed into the detection area and their movement in and out of an orthogonal laser beam produces a periodic fluorescent signal that is demodulated using synchronous detection.   • Immunoblot Test Systems: Laboratory Assays for Diagnosing Autoimmune Diseases (Autoimmunity) Immunoblot test systems are an important component for antibody detection and autoimmune disorder diagnostics. Immunoblot test strips are used in serologically diagnosing rheumatic inflammatory diseases ("rheumatology diagnostics"), for ANCA detection (ANCA = antinuclear cytoplasmic antibodies) in suspected autoimmune vasculitis ("autoimmune vasculitis diagnostics") as well as in diagnosing gastrointestinal disorders such as celiac disease. Immunoblot assays for autoimmune disease diagnostics are easy to carry out and can be used to detect several (auto-)antibodies simultaneously. These laboratory test systems for the fields of autoimmunity are well suited for differentiating ***yses and differential diagnosis after a positive autoimmune screening test and provide a semi-quantitative test result. Every medical laboratory with standard basic equipment can easily and quickly carry out immunoblot assays for autoimmune diagnostics without complex preparation. Knowledge of special techniques and technically demanding instruments are not required. Various autoimmune test manufacturers offer test kits that contain all of the reagents and materials required to carry out the immunoblot test.

The clonogenic (or colony forming) assay has been established for more than 50 years; the original paper describing the technique was published in 19561. Apart from documenting the method, the initial landmark study generated the first radiation-dose response curve for X-ray irradiated mammalian (HeLa) cells in culture1. Basically, the clonogenic assay enables an assessment of the differences in reproductive viability (capacity of cells to produce progeny; ie a single cell to form a colony of 50 or more cells) between control untreated cells and cells that have undergone various treatments such as exposure to ionising radiation, various chemical compounds (eg cytotoxic agents) or in other cases genetic manipulation. The assay has become the most widely accepted technique in radiation biology and has been widely used for evaluating the radiation sensitivity of different cell lines. A total of 26 reverse circulation drill holes totaling 799 meters were completed and two new trenches were dug, sampled and drilled to the west of the original Discovery Trench area (where MAX sampled gossan mineralization in June that returned an assay of 104 g/t Au). Of the 26 holes drilled, seven holes (including RC 09-07) contained gold intercepts greater than 2 g/t over 1.5 meters and a further six drill holes returned values ranging from 0.5 g/t to 1.86 g/t Au over minimum 1.5 meter intervals.
