- The Anthropic Principle: Scientists Admit Evidence of Design To see these world-class scientists, most of them not Christians or necessarily even theists, acknowledge that something or someone seems to have designed the universe and the laws of nature is priceless. ...an essential tool in the apologist's library." Eric Holmberg, The Apologetics Group Since Copernicus' revolution, science has tended to grant less and less significance to both the earth and human life when weighed against the age and immensity of the cosmos. Not only doesn't the sun revolve around us, it turns out that our world is merely a speck floating in a dark backwater of one galaxy among one hundred billion others. And man, Darwin and his followers tell us, is a cosmic accident; the result of matter plus time plus chance. But a new revolution has been quietly taking place. Science is discovering more and more evidence for design and intentionality in the universe. And among the most fascinating of these discoveries is what has been called The Anthropic Principle: the idea that the universe appears to have been carefully engineered in order to produce carbon-based life forms and, yes, even man. In this fascinating documentary produced by the BBC, eight world-renowned scientists grapple with the science and implications of this principle and conclude that Shakespeare may well have been right: There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in our philosophy. This 50 minute program features: Dr. Paul Davies, Professor of ...

- The anthropic principle revisited In previous videos, I discussed the evidence that the universe has been fine-tuned to an incredible degree so as to support life. I also discussed the anthropic cosmological principle, which is an attempt used by some to dismiss the appearance of design. This approach fails, for reasons discussed in a previous vid. In this new video, I discuss a recent development with regard to the anthropic principle. I also address some of the more reckless approaches that people sometimes give in order to defend the anthropic principle or to dismiss the notion of design.

- Anthropic Principle Anthropic Principle. Randall Niles looks at the Fine-Tuning inherent in our Universe. Whenever I present the Anthropic Principle, I'm often told that I'm oversimplifying things. When it comes to the evolutionary complexity and improbability of human beings, the Anthropic Principle simply states, "We're here, so it must have happened." I'm often told that I just dont understand the beautiful simplicity of Darwinian Evolution. Since Im not a scientist, Ill never understand how simple code and structures could naturally evolve into simple cells and systems. Simple? Whos kidding who? Yes, at the moment of conception, a fertilized human egg looks like a simple, single-celled blip no bigger than a pinhead. However, we now know that amorphous blip contains information equivalent to 6 billion chemical letters -- enough complex code to fill 1000 books, 500 pages thick with print so small that it would take a microscope to read it. Through the marvel of DNA, every single human trait is established at the moment of conception. Within hours, that single cell starts reproducing and grows a cilia propulsion system to move the fertilized egg towards the uterus. Within six days, the original cell (now called an embryo) has reproduced its library of information over 100 times. Ultimately, that original blip of life will divide into the 30+ trillion cells that make up the human body. Wow! Thats at the cellular level. If the simple cell is that complex, what about the simple systems made up ...
- Richard Dawkins --- The Anthropic principle Richard Dawkins weighs the possibilities of the anthropic principle as it applies to physics. He also presents the theory that universes are bound to Darwinian selection, passing on traits to daughter universes birthed from black holes.
- The Anthropic Principle This is a song I composed in 2 days; I had a lot of fun writing it, until "unAbleton" rendered the task of adding to it completely impossible. I used a 6 string fretless bass, a 6 string bass, and an electric guitar. As always, every noise and sound was achieved with these instruments (except the percussion, which I created as a sample). It has a very "soundtracky" feel to it, which I like; eventually, I'll try to add to it. Meanwhile I hope you enjoy what I've done so far!!
- Vatche Sahakian Lecture: Fish in a Pond: From Cosmology to the Anthropic Principle String theory purports to provide a unifying fundamental framework of all the physical laws. In recent years however, we have realized that the theory provides for many solutions to the same all-encompassing equations. Each of these solutions is a universe on its own. This picture is now popularly referred to as the Multiverse. It quickly leads to a serious crisis that some have tried to address by evoking the anthropic principle. In this talk, I will talk about the latest cosmological observations, as well as the implications of the multiverse scenario.

- The Anthropic Cosmological Principles(Fine tuning for life) Grand design. It is not just the universe that bears evidence for design. The earth itself reveals such evidence. Frank Drake, Carl Sagan, and Iosef Shklovsky were among the first astronomers to concede this point when they attempted to estimate the number planets in the universe with environments favorable for the support of life. In the early 1960's they recognized that only a certain kind of star with a planet just the right distance from that star would provide the necessary conditions for life.12On this basis they made some rather optimistic estimates for the probability of finding life elsewhere in the universe. Shklovsky and Sagan, for example, claimed that 0.001 percent of all stars could have a planet upon which advanced life resides.13 While their ***ysis was a step in the right direction, it overestimated the range of permissible star types and the range of permissible planetary distances. It also ignored many other significant factors. A sample of parameters sensitive for the support of life on a planet are listed in Table 1. Table 1: Evidence for the design of the sun-earth-moon system14 - 31 The following parameters cannot exceed certain limits without disturbing the earth's capacity to support life. Some of these parameters are more narrowly confining than others. For example, the first parameter would eliminate only half the stars from candidacy for life-supporting Systems, whereas parameters five, seven, and eight would each eliminate more than ninety-nine in a ...
- The Anthropic Principle - Edgar Cayce's Cosmology Edgar Cayce's Cosmology 7g: The Anthropic Principle -- We live in a lawful universe with narrowly-defined characteristics that are ideal (some say essential) for the creation and sustained existence of human life. The idea that the universe has been conspicuously "fine-tuned" for human existence is called the anthropic principle. Based on the Edgar Cayce readings one might assume that the universe is also calibrated to accommodate soul expression during planetary sojourns on the multidimensional heavenly bodies of this solar system and beyond. To coin a term, Cayce's version of the guiding precept underlying the formation of a soul-friendly universe could be called the soulthropic principle.

He was formerly Professor for Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University. He was voted Britain's leading public intellectual by readers of Prospect magazine and was named one of Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People" for 2007. Dawkins came to prominence with his 1976 book "The Selfish Gene", which popularised the gene-centred view of evolution and introduced the term "meme". He is a prominent critic of creationism and intelligent design. In his 1986 book "The Blind Watchmaker", he argued against the watchmaker ***ogy, an argument for the existence of a supernatural creator based upon the complexity of living organisms. Instead, he described evolutionary processes as ***ogous to a blind watchmaker. He has since written several popular science books, and makes regular television and radio appearances, predominantly discussing these topics. Dawkins is an atheist, secular humanist, sceptic, scientific rationalist, and supporter of the Brights movement. In his 2006 book "The God Delusion", he contends ...
