March of 2007 was quite sad (if not difficult) for us since there has been a reshuffling of sections in our batch, disbanding the original group. Albite goes for a swim On a hot 4th of July, the only one who gets to swim is Albite the Boston Terrier.

Plagioclase.mp4 Plagioclase Cleavage Fragment Plagioclase is a mineral family name. This specimen is Albite. The plagioclase feldspars have cleavage in two directions. This video begins with one of those two cleavage directions facing the camera. The other cleavage set is the top and bottom of the fragment. Because of the two good directions of cleavage at nearly 90 degrees, Plagioclase produces very blocky cleavage fragements. The grid pattern below consists of one inch squares.

MOONSTONE & SAPPHIRE RING 001 This ring is unique! There are very few faceted moonstone rings and this one is absolutely mystical! Moonstone is in the feldspar family with albite and orthoclase intermingled in layers. When light shines into the gemstone, it will scatter in different directions off the layers of albite and orthoclase. This is called adularescence. It is a beautiful blue sheen that moves around as you move. And the sapphires are beautifully blue!! I love this ring 100%!
