AMC Airlines MD-83 Nose Gear Up Landing at Karachi Airport A chartered flight of AMC Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-83 (registered in Egypt as SU-BOZ) with 72 passengers flying from Saudi city of Tabuk to Pakistani city of Quetta made nose gear up landing on Runway 25L at Jinnah International Air Port (JIAP), Karachi, Pakistan, on December 25, 2011. The aircraft on its landing approach to Quetta experienced problem with its nose gear and then flew to Karachi to make nose gear up landing at Karachi Airport. It was a safe emergency landing and all passengers and crew members remained safe. AMC Airlines is a charter airline based in Cairo, Egypt. December 25, 2011, Express News channel report

Alec Baldwin off Twitter after American Airlines feud www.nma.tv Alec Baldwin has mysteriously vanished from Twitter after using the social networking site to badmouth American Airlines. The 30 Rock star was fuming after he was ejected from a flight from Los Angeles to New York on Tuesday for using his cell phone on-board. He began to lay into the floundering airline in a series of tweets, one in which he likened American's flight attendants to famously-strict "Catholic school gym teachers from the 1950′s." However, by Wednesday, all of the disparaging posts had been deleted and Baldwin's name on his profile changed to the word "Deactivated." Many of his 600000-plus subscribers had "unfollowed" him as well. News of Baldwin's blowup swept the Internet in real time, as passengers on Baldwin's flight tweeted what they saw. Baldwin himself quickly took to Twitter to explain what happened, claiming he was playing a game of Words with Friends while the aircraft was parked at the gate, waiting to take off. In a later statement released via The Huffington Post, where Baldwin often writes guest commentary, the actor elaborated that he was rudely singled out, as other passengers were using their mobile devices without repercussion. He apologized to his fellow passengers for his actions, but not to American Airlines. AA recounted a very different version of the incident. Caribbean Airlines Crash Landed in Guyana July 30th 2011 The NTSB designated Bob Benzon as the US Accredited Representative. He will lead the US team, which includes seven NTSB staff with expertise in operations, meteorology, airworthiness, survival factors, and aircraft performance as well as representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration and Boeing. The team is scheduled to arrive in Guyana this evening. The Guyana CAA is leading the accident investigation. The accident aircraft recorders have been recovered and, at the request of the CAA, will be transported to NTSB headquarters in Washington, DC to be downloaded.

American Airlines files for bankruptcy nma.tv AMR Corporation, the parent company that owns American Airlines, has filed for bankruptcy protection. The announcement follows what can only be characterized as a disastrous stretch for the US carrier, posting yearly losses of $471 Million and taking a 79% hit on its stock price. A costly, on-going labor dispute between management and pilots is widely cited as the cause of American's woes. Stretching from 2006, talks recently broke down earlier in November when the Allied Pilots Association, the union representing American captains, refused to take a vote on a proposed contract. Thomas Horton, who is taking over the helm of AMR Corp. following CEO George Arpey's departure, claims American faces an $800 million cost disadavantage compared to other airlines when it comes to labor expenses. Also contributing to American's slide is its outdated squadron of planes, which gobble up expensive fuel. The carrier will proceed with a $38 billion aircraft upgrade, despite its Chapter 11 announcement. American has taken heat in recent years over its lucrative executive bonuses, a point that is bound to resurface as AMR struggles to restructure its finances. Top brass received $6.5 million in bonuses in 2009 alone, a year during which the company lost $375 million in its first quarter. Police Forcibly Removing Lady from Spirit Airlines Flight This is video of a lady being physically removed from Spirit Airlines flight #470 from Las Vegas to Dallas (July 6, 2011). The first part of the video is flight attendants repeatedly asking her to get off the plane. The second part is Vegas police removing her. Backstory ========== Short version: This crazy lady refused to get off the plane so Las Vegas police made her get off. Longer version: Something was obviously wrong with this particular individual from the second she got on the plane. I first saw her at the ticket counter endlessly arguing with the desk clerk about baggage fees. Then once on the plane, she was stumbling all around and needed help walking to (finding?) her seat. She then started yelling that it was the "Jesus Plane" among several other barely-coherent statements. She exhibited generally wacky behavior and everyone groaned at the possibility of having to fly with her.. When flight attendants began asking her to come talk to them off the plane she refused, citing "discrimination." After 10-15 minutes of different flight attendants pleading with her to exit the plane (and her flat-out ignoring them and refusing to move), Las Vegas PD boarded and once again asked her to leave voluntarily. When she refused, they forcibly removed her. You can tell by the crowd's reactions whose side we were on, as nobody wanted to spend a 2.5 hour flight with a loud, rambling, incoherent lady. AMC Airlines MD-83 Crash Landing AMC airlines MD-83 crash landed at Karachi International Airport on 25th December 2011 0950Hrs. Nose landing gear was unable to extend and hence aircraft had to perform nose gear up landing. It was a charter flight from Tabuk(KSA) to Quetta(Pakistan).
